Had to drive 20 miles to see this and it was SO WORTH IT! Adored it so much. My sister and I left the theater teary-eyed and giggling. What an absolute special film. I know I will rewatch it often in the future years. 💖🐚✨
Just watched it yesterday night and I can’t stop thinking about it. I can’t even talk about the movie without crying or giggling. You can really feel the heart in this movie. Such a beautiful movie that I’ll cherish forever. ❤️
Best Picture Best Animated Feature Best Actress (Slate) Best Supporting Actress (Rossellini) Best Cinematography Best Screenplay (not sure if this would be original or adapted since it is based on a series of short films) Those are my picks for Oscars this wonderful little film deserves to be nominated for next year!
There's no way they're nominating voice over performances, which is sad. They should. Rossellini in particular gave an extremely moving and affecting performance. She's the reason I cried tears of joy and sorrow. And Slate is ALWAYS wonderful. She gives Marcel such depth and range here and the contrast between her and Rossellini is wonderful
Was Jenny Slate responsible for the rock universe in _Everything Everywhere All At Once?_ She was in it and the rocks seemed so much like Marcel the Shell.
This would be a much better win for A24 than Amy for Best Documentary Feature. If it gets nominated for Best Animated Feature it should win, either this or Turning Red should win. If they don't get noticed by the Oscars. I hope an animated documentary if there is one made wins an Oscar
@@tatehildyard5332 Flee deserved to win at least one of those. Although the ones that did win are great. Maybe soon an animated documentary will win. I hope i live to see that
My opinion: Marcel The Shell should win this. I liked Turning Red, and I thought that it had some very sweet scenes with very interesting characters (Jin is the best Disney dad since Mufasa), but the plot feels super cliche at times, and I really didn’t like how the writers handled the friend fallout (even though it lasted for a bit). Marcel, on the other hand, feels a lot more genuine, and the heavier topics are handled with beauty and grace without needing to sacrifice the story’s quality.
I fell in love with Marcel a long time ago when your very first showed him to the world I’m so thrilled now that he has a movie and a nomination I should say multiple nominations and wins
if I were a billionaire I would immediately make Jenny Slate the creative director and star of a children's show... entirely of her own design and 100% with her hand-selected team. I'm not a billionaire but if I were that's what I would do...
people often are animated in front of camera...I would expect Marcel, was a bit animated, but it was great to share a slice of his life...I know I'll never pack in a huff after seeing how it disrupted someone's family
6:05 This project reminds me of 'Alice' (Alice in Wonderland) directed by Jan Švankmajer. 7:15 I believe 'Big Man Japan ' does a good job of doing this.
_Marcel The Shell With Shoes On_ is a hybrid movie, *not* an animated movie. If you consider it an animated movie, than so is every Marvel movie, Avatar, Star Wars, Sonic The Hedgehog, and every movie that uses CGI characters, effects and backgrounds. By nominating this movie in an animated category, you are blurring the line of what is, and what isn't animation. A movie should be at least 100% animated to be nominated.

@@looney1023 they should have a category for voice acting.
I’ve been so obsessed with the work of Kristen Lepore! Love her artistry! To see all that she’s done so far? I’m in awe of her 💛
The most heartfelt film I've seen in such a long time.

I believe Kirsten Lepore, the animation director from Marcel, is responsible for the rocks
Daniel Kwan (EEAAO: Director) & Kirsten Lepore (Marcel the Shell: Animation Director) are a couple/have kids together
This movie looks absolutely beautiful

Animated documentaries do in fact exist. One of which came out last year called Flee which did receive a few Oscar nominations

60 Minutes appears in this movie. never thought 60 Minutes would appear in anything Oscar worthy

Beautiful movie I was bawling my eyes out by the end
MONKEYBONE WAS REFERENCED! That’s a movie I haven’t heard about in like a decade lol!
Love Jenny!
Beautiful ❤
I wonder if will it get Best Animated Feature or not because it has a live action setting and uses live action footage
According to rules 75% of the movie must contain animation in order to qualify as nominee for Animated Picture. So it could probably pass
Denis So any Marvel movie could qualify?
@@Denis-89 Definitely more than 75% of the movie frames are stop motion so should def be good.
