  • I've been a user of OWC products for many many years. They reached out to me to let me know about their new Atlas Ultra CFexpress 4.0 Type B cards that are designed for up to 8K RAW capture with today's mirrorless and digital cinema cameras. These are futureproof cards as the conform to the new 4.0 spec which I’m sure we will see products (read cameras), support in the future.
    I love their stuff (I have bought thousands and thousands of dollars worth over the years), so I said sure, send them over and I'll talk about them. No money changed hands and the opinions and experiences are my own. The Envoy Pro is from a previous purchase of a batch of them for a project.

    Huge OWC fan. Have used their docks since their first TB2 version. Have a USB-C dock in our audio studio. A 5-port Thunderbolt Hub that I use when travelling and I need to edit for clients. And a number of Travel docks for lighter trips with my MBPro and my partner's iPad Pro. I have moved to the 8 port CalDigit TB 4 Element hub for my edit station. Also own multiple OWC drives include two use-your-own drives Envoy Express.

    I’ve been using the OWC 1.0TB Envoy Pro FX Thunderbolt 3 for extra space on my Mac Studio. ABSOLUTELY love it. Lighting fast transfer speeds, I can edit in premier files from the drive without a hitch. Big fan!

    Jem, do LTO tapes for storage still around?

    • @theC47
      @theC47  11 месяцев назад +1

      They are Memo but mainly used in enterprise environments. LTO-9 is pretty fast and LTO tapes have a 15-30 year lifespan. It's an archiving solution but even with the Cloud it is used a lot for that purpose.

    Can you check if these cards are compatible with old Type B Card reader from different brands. I am currently using Lexar card reader with Sandisk Card.

      Unfortunately I don't have a way to do that. My guess is that it would work but I would reach out to OWC. They have great customer & tech support. That said, one advantage to using their reader is that it supports their Innergize workflow.
