That Sonic game was like no other in the 16-bit era. Even Sonic 3 & Knuckles had this on the run of the money. Never played it, yet, but it is one of the best. Famous for introducing Amy Rose and the infamous METAL SONIC.
it was piece of shit system no one supported it either just like the 32x. even plain old genesis versions of games were better and didnt have long load times. it just had a few games that were good the rest were trash.

For me, Sonic CD is a better game than Sonic 2, even if Sonic 2 has much better level design. Sonic CD has a much greater emphasis on exploration, while Sonic 2 greatly focuses on speed instead. To really, really thrive as a platformer series, Sonic should get back to the emphasis on platforming and exploration that were the central focus of Sonic 1 and Sonic CD. Look at Mario : Mario has never lessened its emphasis on exploration. This gave birth to absolute masterpieces like Mario Bros 3, Mario 64, and recently Mario Odyssey. Sonic has forgotten that speed is not everything.
I would say both Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Mania & CD are a heck of alot better than 2 in my opinion. 2 would've been at the top if the enemy placement wasn't cheap & if the zone's level designs at the 2nd half ( with the exception of Mystic Cave Zone ) wasn't frustrated or repetitive at it's time.

Sonic saves animals. I loved that theme. Better than some fat plumber killing odd animals and making the TMNT mad when they attack a Koopa, Buzzy, Lakitu or Hammer Bros Koopa.
Metal Sonic is the third robot copy of sonic created by eggman, even he fails at destroying sonic, eggman always bring him back to the fight, so he is 1 of eggman's 2 favorite robots.
Because it was recorded as audio in the game CD, same as any other music CD. The CD reader had to follow track until the end and then physically go back to the start to play it again. That´s also why it had such an amazing quality for the time. Looped music in older Sonic games is possible because it´s "rendered" in real time, in memory.
Then you realize there is no point at all in hitting the Future checkpoints because all the stuff you need to do is in the past, so you just have to get to the past at the beginning of the stage and make sure you avoid or burn off all the Future drives.
I knew it didn't sound right hearing all the sounds and music in the Genesis version - it sounds like a watered down port for the MasterSystem or something in comparison to the Megadrive version. :D
NEver had anything but the og Genesiss, so I didnt get to play this. Oddly enough, though I am sure iam wrong, the colors of the backgrounds and environment look flatter than the first Sonic game. BUt again, I am sure I am just imagining it.
