I saw him everytime he came starting then...and finally Oak Mountain Amphitheatre last time there. Remember they had to make a human chain around the stage???? .
Watched this on PBS when it originally aired. You can't see it so much here, but he had them dancing in the aisles and he got the only standing ovation that night amongst the other great talent featured that evening.
I also watched this show DOO WOP 50 when it first aired on PBS. In fact, I also own a copy on DVD. As I recall Little Anthony and the Imperials also got a standing ovation. Great show 😊
OMG his songs brought me back to a much simpler life. I have a big smile on face right now. Eyes are a bit misty. Thank you for posting this video he sounded amazing.
I was so excited when I meet him in person. I was walking thru the casino in Reno. He headed towards my way and I started screaming ( oh my God it's him). He signed my purse and gave me his autograph on a picture I took of both of us. I will never forget that day in Reno.
@@LisaHowell-l1t I believe it was 2003. I remember that it was when they had Hot August Nights. They had old cars going thru downtown Reno. It was so much fun back then.
I was unaware that Lou Christie lost his only child, a son to a motorcycle accident Very sad to hear. He must have taken it very bad. I see he has turned 80 but with a voice untarnished with time. I feel very saddened at his loss.
Just saw Jay and the Americans at the Happy Together tour 2024 and tho the lead singer isn't Jay Black, he was really good, did a great job singing Cara Mia
A valid question but doesn't his throat get hurt by singing those stratospheric phrases. I sense that here he's bracing himself to go higher. In that bit, as a younger man it would be a walk in the park but getting older makes the voice inflexible. I commend for braving that storm and succeeding. Read there was a big tragedy in his family and went through HELL and despite all that, he's maintained his boyish handsomest. His face is glowing and beaming. Because of studio lighting, he probably has to apply pancake makeup and yes, men in show biz do that as well.
I notice that his voice got tired where he launched into the 3rd chorus when his singing into the falsetto. It's a somewhat vigorous song that can lead to exhaustion.
Mel Torme? He and Christie look quite different from each other. Don't know if he's using makeup as males also use cosmetics before taking center stage. He is really quite handsome with smooth skin on his face. His eyes are very beautiful and his features are lovely. His face has not been tempered by time. He still maintains his boyish qualities seamlessly.
I could tell you were joking. Mel Torme was talented, both as singer and musician. Sadly, he let himself go by morphing into a Rolly-Polly. He had serious health issues. I think he died by a stroke.
I'm 68 now when I was 16 lou came to birmingham. I sang with him on stag. Love him to bits.
I saw him everytime he came starting then...and finally Oak Mountain Amphitheatre last time there. Remember they had to make a human chain around the stage???? .
Thanks for the memories. I am 66 years old. Well almost 67. Thanks for the great music.
..."just comes outta nowhere" and I'm back hearing it for the 1st time on my older ("cool") Cousins car radio....69 soon & still loving it!
Song is fire. Wish I was alive back then. Life was normal

LIGHTNING STRIKING AGAIN - LOU CHRISTIE (1966) .
In the six at an all black school, telling my schoolmate how much I love this song and she agreed. I'm 70 now and still live it!
Still got it.
Lightning Strikes sure did hit a pile of gold
Lightening sure did make a great big hit ❤🎉😂🎉🎉❤❤❤❤

Recorded live in Pittsburgh in May 2001.

I’m usually not a fan of live performances of certain songs but this one is awesome 😎.
He emotes his songs with expressions bold, yet nuanced.
I love, love, love this song and the artist who is singing it ❤🎉🌈🎵🎶💦🇺🇲💯🙏🏻👍🏻😍🥰⚡🌠💙💫💝💜🌜🥳💔❣️♥️💕🇺🇸
Love him❤️
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST ! LOU CHRISTIE
1970年頃「She sold me magic」が日本で大ヒットし大好きでした。映像のファンの青春時代がバックコーラスの女性とオーバーラップして見えました。感動しました!
A song that my girl and I loved back then, 72 years old now and still love it!
That's for the memories Lou. Enjoyed all of your concerts thru the years! 🎉
Hes fine...still. ❤
I was a kid of 6 or 7 singing this out loud back then😊
Love this song
I Love Miss Cutie in the middle backup singers
I just made a comment about how 'hot' they are, lol
DEFINITELY ! THE ONE IN THE MIDDLE !
They’re all super hot.
Still a great voice and song😊
Yeah! I dig it!
Happy he can still hit those "helium notes."
So well done

I do as well, the worst thing that could happen to a parent is to lose their child. Try to stay strong and I love your music Debra Bader.❤️
I'm sure he misses his son terribly. Christopher wasn't his only child. He also has a beautiful daughter named Bianca.
He has a daughter named Bianca she is my niece
I'm 44 I love this song
That's the only music I listen to it so southing
Classic
This was a hometown crowd for him, he's from Moon Township, Pa.
Great saw him at meadowlands yrs ago awsome 😅

It’s 9/10/24 in Austin, Tx! Great song and singer! Seniors were great in ‘68! I’m 75 and still rockin to the ‘60s today🥳🎶
If only the thoughts going through those gentlemen's minds at 01:35 could be shown on video .....
when where was this

Lou is not as comfortable on stage, when they separate his girl singers, away from him. He likes them so close by. Izod center, so good!

He looks a little like Mel Torme, but better

She has to live by HIS rules? Who does he think he is? In love with himself? A narcissistic smart-ass?
Better words here "our rules"?
It’s just a song south heights
And glenwillard
No he is asking her to wait. If she doesn’t want to she is free to go….he isn’t a smart ass he is one of the great musical artists of that time
You obviously don’t understand those times where some of us grew up and loved him, and his songs and his voice
A good song but not that good
Four seasons ripoff. Total scumbag
