The singer in yellow is the great Clydie King (1943-2019). The drummer is Gary Mallaber (Steve Miller Band, Eddie Money, Greg Kihn Band and many other credits). Lou and the whole group are fantastic here.
backup singers Clydie King, Marva Holliday, Sherlie Mathews..Garry Malllaber on drums but the real question is does Lou really need a fiddle player. This song has been posted 3 times now (twice solo and once from the complete show)
Camera men/Producers were so lame back then. During the guitar solo, let's concentrate on the drummer and while we're at it, let's concentrate on the backup singers instead of the lead singer/guest!
I wonder if he hadn't sung for a while. He left show biz and worked on an oil rig for a time. If you look for other live performances, he truly is Mr. Personality.
His voice and this song are reminiscent of the 50's and early 60's -a time when Italian singers from Jersey, Philly, New York, etc. and ballads were popular. He is singing at a faster tempo than when he first released the record/album. And he could have used some backup singers that understood how this type of song should be performed. I'm not trying to change your mind. Just pointing out some stylistic features. P.S. Yes, I like the song and so did my mom and her mom.
@@marthawelch4289 I appreciate the info and I don’t mean to offend but it’s just this particular ditty isn’t my cup of tea. I also can understand and value the passing down of musical tastes from generations. Cheers to you and yours friend!
No auto tune here! Lou is still alive at 81 years old.
What a falsetto!!
He really had a nice voice.
Happy Thursday... thank you for sharing! 💖
What a chorus…chilling…and the backing vocals. Tight.
I really liked this song! Don't remember seeing Lou C. On Midnight Special. How cool!

Was Clydie the one that sometimes sang with Linda Ronstadt? Hypnotic.
Yes, she did sing on Linda Ronstadt's albums "Don't Cry Now" and "Heart Like A Wheel."
@@goldfieldfireworks7352 Thanks!
Gray Mallaber also was Paul Williams drummer for a bit. I believe he has an album credit on one of his albums, and was part of his tour concerts band
Don't forget Gary had some time with Van Morrison under his belt at the time this was taped.
I remember hearing this in one of the old K-tel collection ads.😅
Great!
great modulation at the chorus!
Fantastic!
what a voice
Great performance. Apart from this tune and I'm Gonna Make You Mine, I don't know much about Lou Christie over this side of the pond in the UK.
Check out "Two Faces Have I." Great tune.
love this❤❤❤
Thank you. 👍🏻👏🏻
I have heard this song before but didn't know the artist's name. Wonderful live performances. 👍❤
Holy crap!!!! My favorite sing as a kid!!!
Some songs are all about the chorus. This is one of those songs.
The ordinary calmness of his verses sets it up.
Hell, Yeah!

Thank you. I was wondering who the backup singers were.
It’s the fiddle that sells it. 😂

Bravo🥁🎺🎸🎶
💗
Clydie King! ❤️
Been years
❤❤❤
I thought Frankie Valli sang this. I remember Midnight Special with Wolfman Jack. That's a whole lifetime ago!
Who does that guitar solo ?
Vinnie Bell 🕯🎸
@@brötzmannsax So who is the hidden keyboard player???
The violin was there to provide "lighting" sounds. Too bad we couldn't hear it
He had a Frankie Valli level vocal range.
Valli's fallsetto is more of a screech. Christie's is pure.
That drummer is getting quite a workout.
He's doing his old hit - from before he went all hippy.
*hippie
Idiot. 🤣
I never know there were verses to this song because you only ever hear the chorus. And now i know why - the verses are gawdawful!!

and they're still lame today
Background vocal sounded like Abba before there was an Abba.
GONG!!!
I didn't know Rick Moranis could sing like that!
😂
A great song, but the guy's got all the stage presence of an ironing board.
I wonder if he hadn't sung for a while. He left show biz and worked on an oil rig for a time. If you look for other live performances, he truly is Mr. Personality.
Everyone needs a gimmick I guess. His was a weird singing voice. lol.
This song is awful.

Nah, you’re awful. The song is just fine.
