you have no idea how much i wanted this video
Enjoy it. It's for you.
😂
Hi, Kaylen. I'm not a metal player, but it's always great to meet a fellow Stratocaster-lover. I find your videos extremely enjoyable and insightful, and you're actually making me seriously consider making videos myself again. 😁 RUclips has certainly come a long way from the mono-aural and low-res content that I made in the beginning.
“I’ve been playing for four years”
Ah, there it is; my daily dose of RUclips demotivation
:p
Years don't matter, hours do!
Cool video man, thanks for this!! Cracking malmsteen tones with those strats..They sound awesome!
😎😎
That Splattercaster sounds so damn good. Looking forward to your next collection vid!
Me too! Can't wait to see what'll be in the collection by next summer 😁
Dude!! Love the video and the wind blowing through those glorious locks of hair, sweet riffs and super rad guitars guitars!!! EPIC!! Love the “pea soup” guitar. Great Jake e Lee riff with the Squire too!
Starting with the Splatocaster was a genius move, love the design of the one you have, looks awesome. 🤘 Granted, I was mostly interested in a revisit to the Kramer guitar, pure beaut. All in all, love the collection of guitars and basses, I'm envious of quite a few of them. 😆
My Splattercaster has the only good design out of the entire run tbh
@@sixstringtv1 I haven't seen many of them, but I imagine each one is gonna be unique. Unless it's a decal they slap ontop of the body. :)
@@sixstringtv1 Hey hey hey, don't sell that Blue Flower strat short! That thing looks fantastic!
8:20 Was not expecting to hear you play this song, really caught me by surprise, pleasant surprise of course.
Everytime you play Trespass on a strat it blows my mind, in a good way! Keep up the good work 🤘
Great riff 😎
Your collection is just awesome man.
Thanks 😁😁
I have a heel adjusted strat, I loosen the strings and put a capo on the first fret, take the neck off adjust the neck and reassemble. If you are careful, the strings survive. Very cool guitars.
Fun fact: a Les Paul tune-o-matic will fit the already drilled post holes for a floyd. I ended up putting a stoptail on one of my Strats that had a junk Floyd clone on it.
Oh? 😳
Hey there, luthier here. Really love your Japanese vintage Strats. I own an 88 Japanese as well. I also own a Plek Station. You’ll be happy to know that the Japanese Fenders are the closest to perfection with their fingerboard planing than any other company. Only a couple others come close.
Excellent taste my good sir. Love your videos.
Just found your awesome channel and have been binging your videos while practicing malmsteen licks - when u burst out some of them i found out why i like you - btw your english is so good i could not figure out if you are a brit or german - greetings from near the ruhrpott
Four years! That's wicked progress in such a short time! Lazily playing for over a decade does not get you anywhere far, believe me 😅😅 Not a fan of stock factory guitars myself. That 80s flower strat is awesome. Soon I plan on doing something that flamboyant with graffiti paint on a harley benton fusion
that 2002 antigua strat looks and sounds sick- also wanted to mention I also used a black ibanez shortscale for my first electric guitar lol, pretty good instrument
Cool stuff. Especially the Washburn.
I love those cheap Ali Express fret wraps you also use, I've bought so damn many of those, just as good as the brand name ones.
100%, I was expecting them to disintegrate within a week forcing me to buy the original after all, but they're actually pretty good
That N2 is definitely my favorite guitar that you own (although I may just be bias because I’m a huge Nuno fan). I have the N4, and it sounds and feels incredible.
I'll have that N4 someday...
Damn your strat collection is alot better than I thought alot of Japanese strats... idk now I've seen his oldest guitar the black strat and I know it's a common color but honestly if he put some love and lofty work into it I imagine it'd be probably his best guitar.
7:46 I have that strat but in black with the aluminum pickguard! I bought it because I wanted something cheap that I could mod and take on the road without worries. I gave it a hot wheels theme with duct tape racing stripes, and I swapped out the stock knobs for Fender amp ones and a black switchtip. I'm hoping to eventually transfer the Player pickups into it from my Fender which I want to upgrade with Texas Specials eventually. It's lightweight body and baseball-bat thick neck made it an awesome travel guitar! I bought it in San Antonio, live with it in Houston, and I took it on a roadtrip from Austin to Denver and back! Other than making creaky noises up in the Rockies, it was a great travel instrument!
Great Video👍that second Bass looked awesome, wonder if it is still avaible
It usually is, rarely ever sold out but when it is it's usually back in stock within a few weeks
Thx for sharing!
😁😁
Great video, I love rig rundowns. You have only been playing guitar for 4 years? Did you sleep during this time? You play very well.
That ending picture looks really, really Malmsteen. Love it!
Thanks homie 😎😎
Not only a great guitar collection but a great demo of metal on single coils!
Thanks! 😎
Single coils are superior
@@sixstringtv1 Can I still get crushing tone with a bridge single coil?
Hell yeah. I made an entire video about using single coils for metal!
Not much of a strat guy as i said i play moded les pauls ..or my untouched 2011 LP prophecy GX but honestly i love that black strat .hooe u fix that thing..that blue one is nice too man .again love the channel as i just sub about 3 days ago
I agree with you 100% on the old/modded guitar thing, very few of my guitars are stock and many of them are vintage, I like buying vintage stuff that's already modded because its usually way cheaper and they're still great instruments (don't care about collectability) unfortunately this also means a bunch of my instruments dont work 100% of the time.
Oh yeah, my black Strat proved once again that owning old instruments is a struggle
i have a fretless 5 string jazz copy and its also huge my preference bass wise was always the jazz style until i recently got into 6 string multiscales
every jazz style ive had has felt huge might be because im 5ft2 but my other basses dont seem as big lol
nice collection btw 🙂
Great vid man really appreciate all the effort you put in. Is you’re Marshall that loud it blows you’re hair or does it just move like that.
I like how 30% of my comments relate to the hair fan nowadays 😂😂
I too love strats! And I modify almost every one of my guitars. Great collection! I like your flavor sir. Great job on the Kramer too.
I recently dressed up a mikro grg and hand built a custom case for my 8yr son as he's beginning to play.
Have you ever played any esp or the ltd line?
I ask because I bought a ltd h-100 at a yard sale for under 50$.
I've played for 30 yrs and have always been too poor for esp and scared of
Ltd. but for the price I dove in. 😆 and I actually like it a lot.
Maybe a review video idea for the future?
Man after my own heart, I don't own a single guitar that hasn't been modded in some way, even beyond the point of logic or reason like my Epiphone LP. There's something special about putting in the work to make something that's entirely unique and your own.
Exactly, unique gear is the coolest!
nice collection!
Thanks!
U can loosen the strings, put a capo at the first fret then loosen the neck bolts. You can adjust the strat without taking the strings off. Still pain the ass but is easier and faster.
I like how you have your hair blowing heroically, but only while you're playing. I have a Squire Paranormal series baritone and that guitar is epic.
I couldn't do that while talking cauze the fan is loud as fuck so my mic would pick it up. Also why would I do that 😂
@@sixstringtv1 You might do it to be ironic. Or to take a subtle poke at shredders who DO have fans blowing their hair back in videos.
Anyway, you do sound great, hair blowing in the breeze, or not.
Love the splatter and flower strats tone and look.. I’m mainly a guy that likes humbucker pickups and I’ve always owned SGs or LP. Both excellent guitars but when I record thank you picking up a strat like if you plug in a Les Paul Street Anthony M no pedals no nothing play some chords and sing with it then do the same thing with a strat the fenders just have a much more musical sound to them that good “chimney” clean sound
Fun video - thanks for sharing. As a Strat player myself, I thoroughly enjoyed your collection. Now off to amps and effects???
I've made a full video about my pedalboard 😁
@@sixstringtv1 that’s right -
Sorry dude. I’ve seen it too 😆. I have the memory of a goldfish. Amp though (although I know you’ve talked about the marshalls already).
Great collection! I love fenders too. Have you ever tried an 80s HM strat?
I've tried the reissue, I have yet to try one of the originals with Kahlers, but I want one desperately!!
@@sixstringtv1 I got the chance to play one about a month ago, because I was doing some work on it. I can't explain with words how amazing it played.
i've WAITING for this one man. great collection.
any ESPs/LTDs you have in mind? i recently got an Eclipse 87 NT and it's literally one of the best guitars ive ever played.
I had an LTD EC-100 or some shit here for a few months, absolute nightmare. Never touching ESP/LTD again, I just really dislike their specs
@@sixstringtv1 Try an ESP Snapper or Navigator N-ST
seeing all these strat make me believe youre the biggest iron maiden fan , you just dont know it yet!
Hey man, nice rack of Strats! You fly fast on them. I've always liked the way Strats look and offer a different sound usually but the longer scale length defeats me a little on reachy scales and chords down at the bottom end of the neck. Although I have a Schecter Tele-style PT Saturn with Fender scale length, and I love it, I only use it for certain things now since my older hands are not so agile or flexible. These days I play better all-around on a Gibson length shorter scale. So anyway it's nice to have options. But I wish Strats and Teles could be had with an optional shorter scale. I do have a Squier Mustang with a 24" scale and it solves this whole problem for me. Fun and easy. If Strats had this option I'd own one now. Probably one reason you play so well on a long neck is your hand span and bone structure let you take advantage of it. Cool to see you like bass enough to own a couple, that blue HB looks fantastic. Also appears to have a shorter scale length than a P or J style like the giant-looking first HB bass you showed. Is that true? Because if I buy a bass I'm looking for one with a shorter scale. Luna makes an interesting one with like a 28 or 30" scale, way shorter than a Fender type. Oh well, love your show, Cheers from Dallas!
I've got rather big hands so the scale length on Strats doesn't bother me. I did once briefly own that LTD EC-100 though and the shorter scale pissed me off.
Thanks for watching! 😁😁
Paolo Del Gilbert is missing an "o" - Gilberto 🤘😆 I've never been able to play with a soft enough hand to keep those 70's strat necks in tune, the micro-tilt & i don't get along.
that blue flower strat is one of my favorites, subbed because of it
😎😎🙏
I love the reverse stock washburn!
Great collection, you probably already know this but a little heads up on the squier bullet, the body on some of those is not as thick as a standard stratocaster so you may find most aftermarket trem blocks may not fit. You may have some research ahead. Good luck...
I know that, I'm fine with leaving the lid on the back off if a trem block is too long tbh
Youve only been playing for four years? Man I need to practice more. :)
That Washburn sounds great!
I’m a big fan of 80’s MIJ’s to mate . But it’s not just fender! , MIJ squires are just as good ! I’ve got a MIJ 86 squire and it’s better than my custom shop strats
good desk/guitar chair? i get encumbered by the arm rests a lot and also enjoy back support too much for a stool. thanks for all of your content by the way.
No idea, I have a guitar stool cause I couldn't be bothered to buy a chair with removable arm rests
Lol I just upgraded from a 2013 squire bullet black metal flake body greystone metall flake pickguard dark rosewood board all black hardware .
Score a fender 2010 player deluxe/superstrat MIM with pickup button for 1-3 or 123 pickup select.
525 with fender brand velvet hardcase.
Crimson red with reddish turtle shell guard and maple neck and dark rosewood board. from a pawn shop almost new. Still has plastic under some screws neck shows little to no wear shiny shine 2 scratches and real faint . Sounds like night and day from my bullet or my squire aff starcaster.
So clear so crazy good.
I basically robbed the guy but he tried to con me and it's been in the display for months on end like legit all summer.
It's mine now .
Lovely family
😁😁😁
Dont stop collecting until the walls are full! Killer collection bro.
You are the man!!!!! :)
You!!!
Kaylen, I would love to see you work your magic on a 70s era Ibanez Destroyer. I've played many, many guitars over the years but nothing could replicate that specific feel and sound. I don't think many people realize that EVH played a lot of their first album on a Destroyer. BTW, I'm a Strat guy like you, but if you get a crack @ getting one of these I think you'd be in love.
I've been trying to find one!!! I gotta look harder 🤣
Apparently there were some good 80s versions, it's just hit or miss as to whether you score a good one.
6:52 I lost it. 😂
I'm a Strat fan, too! I have one. I also have these:
ESP M-II
Charvel San Dimas
Jackson Dinky
PRS Custom 24
Ovation acoustic
And two cheap guitars, my first which is a Hondo (Strat rip-off) and a Squire.
Big fan of the Charvel San Dimas
I have wayyyyyy to many guitars. My favorite was MIJ Jackson’s but I’ve been experimenting and building my own.
10:34 that flipped headstock looks cursed.
Also, maybe try a yamaha sometime? :>
Mimi Sounds likes Strats, the upper bout provides more support, and helps with back pain.
As Darth Vader once said, "I find your lack of telecasters disturbing". At least I think that's what he said but I could be wrong. Either way it's still a good point.
Maybe someday. Maybe...
Oh man I can't believe reaper died during the Seinfeld baseline... Which ironically enough was not played on a base guitar
3:09 that's a sick riff. What song is it from? Ps. I feel like i love each riff you Play, really Hope you give your spotify playlist sometime
Trespass by The Haunted 😎
Here's the Spotify
open.spotify.com/user/21dnpb37nzmkvy5uuqkodr4hq?si=FjEe7WH2R46mXRRJb4d6Cw
Idk why but I really enjoy looking at people's guitars
Me too tbh. I love these videos, I was just hesitant about making one of my own
what do you think of Strandberg's? or just headless guitars in general?
Damn. And here i thought Fender and Squier had more subdued finishes, those look sick. Of course they sound pretty bitchin too.
On the black-and-white Guitar you should turn into a baritone.
Which should I buy Contemporary Strat single coil or HH FR? I like lead, solos, shred.
I have a Schecter Demon 6 and the humbuckers are too full, warm and thick sound. I want to be able to play cleans
STRAT! The contemp. Strats come with FR too
Yeah the Japanese strats how awesome too idk the pea soup strat actually matches the splatter caster really well... I mean if you was doing a show it'd look awesome to play em back to back. I'm more of a super strat guy myself now but I played an Olympic white American standard strat for along time and yeah I'd be happy with any of his strats... well the functioning ones ha
I bought a Splattercaster for my 29th birthday (2009). I played many shows with that thing. I took out the pickups, because I played hard rock music, and I had the same experience as you! Those pickups sounded amazing. I sold it to a friend that was down on his luck and needed a guitar. I had moved on, and I was with Ibanez by then. I regret that. It was a cool guitar.
EDIT: That blue Squier is gorgeous in person. Too bad the camera doesn't really pick up the detail. I reviewed it, and I absolutely loved it. You don't like the slightly chunkier neck? I kinda dig it for solos. I honestly thought about keeping it.
I did keep the Squier and I regret it now, cause that neck profile really doesn't agree with me 😂
@@sixstringtv1 Well, you have a pretty body to work with now! Just need to find the right neck! Because let's be real, that color is outstanding.
Very dope gear ! And a question : what type of rgb led are you useing for your background light ?
I got some multicolor wall LED off Amazon for 13€ and put it on my floor. It's done a really good job
I had a Blue Flower Telecaster and sold it. Wish I had kept that one.
Anyone know what pickups are in that 2003 “splattercaster”? Are they just plain old MIM pickups? Cause damn, that bridge pickups sounded great.
They are, but they sound sick so I never replaced them
I'm not a metal guy but god damn do strats sound amazing for metal. Also isn't that nuno bettencourt made of that Agatha's wood you hate?
Nahhhh, expensive woods only pre-1993
What is the first riff you played on the Squier guitar?
8:21 was that Long Distance Runaround by Yes?
.... Yes 🤣
hats best sounding strat think i ever heard the splatter one
Very cool
😁🤩
6:19 I've got a 27 fret Ibanez Xiphos that sounds like that. Extremely noisy pots, I'm not sure if the bridge pickup is dying or if the pickup selector is broken. But it's a bummer
The struggle of playing old guitars
yeah i got rid of all my strats that had the awful truss rod access, if it's a heel access truss rod it has to have a spoke wheel or i dont want it
also with the antigua burst, i feel like it really depends on how it was done. my old antigua fender had a darker burst to it and it looked a lot better to me
also also, based Baby Metal hoodie
I got such a good deal on my black Strat that i didn't care much, but in retrospect it does annoy me and I have no clue why anybody would opt for that on a guitar.
And yeah I unironically really enjoy Babymetal.
@@sixstringtv1 Babymetal unironically bangs, mad respect
I like the contemporary squire guitar but I want that pink one myself lol... I was at my mom's today for her birthday and had to help her with moving some stuff and I found my first electric guitar that I owned it's a harmony electric guitar it's pretty old idk I lost track of it shit I honestly thought it found its self in the trash. My step-dad who recently passed away had his brothers 70 something Tesco del ray which he died as a teenager by drowning 😢 I was trying to get that one of my mom just so I could fix it up but she wouldn't give me it... evh started on a del ray. They aren't great guitars but the body shape is unique and the neck is actually pretty good ... I would of sanded that vs lacquer off it lol
I like the one with the flowers
it's great isn't it
Yes it seems kinda psychedelic very cool
10:08 I now just realized that riff was “Drowning in the sound” by Trivium
Fantastic riff
@@sixstringtv1 yes
Those guitars are cool and all but, the big question is where you got that shirt?. In other news, there's a fender player model available in neon green with an ebony board. Do you think it's worth it?.
Some outlet store probably. And yeah those Fender Player Strats are sick!
Hello from Florida, US. Love Seinfeld! Just purchased a 2019 Fender Player in Candy Red Burst. Yes I know its a Guitar Center exclusive color. But buying it used shouldn't support GC any.
Sounds sick!
Love the Baby Metal shirt lmao
Babymetal rules
@@sixstringtv1 Oh wait, it's a jumper... lol my bad
My guitar collection has just devolved into Jackson/Charvel Dinkys, Kellys, Stars and Rhoads.
It could be called an evolution though, since I got rid of all my B.C. Riches and Epiphones.
Getting rid of Epiphones, my man!
Please reveal the parental mind-control techniques you used to acquire so much gear at 16 years old. I need guidance (and more gear).
I work for my money. It's that easy
The Washburn is cool
Right?!
The problem I have with Strats is that the position of the volume knob means that my hand comes into contact with it when I'm palm muting. As a result, I often find that I'm inadvertently turning the volume down on the guitar, which is obviously sub-optimal. That aside, they're fine. Ive swapped out the stock bridge pickup on mine for a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails pickup and it screams like a rock beast.🤘
I hear this a lot and I've never understood it. I have never once touched the pickup switch or the volume knob while playing
@@sixstringtv1 Must be a question of technique. Unfortunately, my palm muting style is pretty much set in stone at this point. Anyway, I only have one Strat among my other nine guitars, so I only use it sparingly.
15:23 uncommon bass player W
You ever get a chance to play an early 80’s Laney ProTube 100w (pre AOR)?
I found a half stack in England and had it shipped to America last year and it sounds like a jcm800 but almost half price
I haven't, but I'd love to. Also I got my JCM800 for basically half price 😎
I feel like the Antigua would look better with maybe a cream pick guard.
What do you think about Charvel superstrats and the Jackson Adrian Smith signature? :)
Played a few of both, very very good.
If it makes you feel any better 4:40 the switch matches the fretboard inlays at least :P
True 😌
That Kosmo is spongeworthy
💯💯
I love what's gotta be the cheapest guitar in your collection the one you moded the Kramer Kramer lol but of course if I had the choice to pick one idk how you could pass up the splatter caster... I mean shit I construe why it's his number one... what unique colors on it. Omg he had a cheaper guitar lol teaches me to comment before watching the whole video. Yeah dudes collection is a vaste quantity but I can tell he shops more for quality.
Maybe I really should give strats and tele a try, never have been interested but everyone around me said they are awesome
Strats are sick, Teles are too but they're not really my thing. I'm not a fan of the shape at all, I'd just buy a Strat with Tele components if I was ever in the mood for that sound
I don't know if having a fan blowing ones hair helps guitar playing but it sure makes you look cooler 😎
And kinda helps playing, in that it keeps my hair out of my face and off my strings 😂
All your missing is a Hello Kitty Strat.
The Nuno with its Bill Lawrence humbucker sounds sooo much better than your strats, maybe a bridge stacked HB would be worth trying?
My Strats sound amazing don't you dare
