I did almost nothing to my Toyota battery that came with my 2010 GX460and it lasted until the summer of 2022. I'm sure if I had actually kept a closer eye on it, 15 years would have been easily possible. The power of preventative maintenance.
I use a CTEK battery charger in my GX460. Used it also on my Porsche, Subarus, Nissan, etc. I have an MXS 5.0 and Multi US 7002. I connect them a few times a month, overnight, and it's great peace of mind.
WARNING! Those caps will vent the liquid acid if the cells are overfilled with water! Whatever you do, DO NOT OVERFILL THE CELLS WITH WATER! I stupidly overfilled mine thinking nothing of it and it puked out the excess acid out those plugs and to my horror I learned the hard way that the acid is extremely corrosive! It etched the paint under the battery tray, it ate up a rubber grommet on a nearby bracket and some small plastic clips. I had to pull the battery out, wash the entire area with a water and baking soda solution to neutralize the acid and blow dry everything. BE VERY CAREFUL you don't get that acid on anything!!!

I wonder how does batteries do when it's freezing outside and you put distilled water. My guess is the battery needs to be fully charged before adding distilled water

I have to disagree on the quality of GX460 battery. Only had my car for 3 years and the battery already dead once. Noticed a few had issue on clublexus forum. Maybe the number is not alarming consider how many GX out there but Lexus should went with AGM or at least larger group size.
@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD It is Panasonic but I never check the water level until swapped for a larger group 27 AGM. My suspicion is Enform and courtesy lights running after engine shut off drained the battery to a level unable to crank the v8. BTW, I love my GX and your channel!
I got 11 years from my Lexus OEM battery in an Rx350 2012 to 01/24. It’s a black Lexus branded battery. My GS450H a Panasonic only lasted 7-8 years, don’t remember if it’s clear or not will have to get in trunk to check. I think it’s all of the computers that need the power then you crank V8 or high compression V6(450H requires premium not recommended but required) the stop/start is so smooth one really doesn’t notice it. GS hybrid 🎉is a performance luxury car. Researched it and does the 1/4 mile faster than my first car a SS350 Camaro 1967. GS has a sweet spot at 80-90 and that’s a problem in real world. The guys with pointy hats and blue lights (KY) would like to see me do that. Thanks for everyone’s help.

There is a SST but it's hard to find.. use your fingers or go carefully with some pliers. ACID is inside so please always wear your safety spex 🙏

Under normal conditions electrolyte freezes at something like -90f. If drivien frequently the electrolyte should be liquid even during the winter.

My GS Hybrid has a Panasonic but black and sealed with big stickers on top. It lasted 7 years and dealer had best price for 450 CCA battery.
