Gene Harris had the unique ability of combining traditional jazz piano with the Blues and creating an absolutely unique style that is recognizable from all other pianists. I love watching these videos and seeing him immerse himself in his music. And yes the man had chops when he wanted to use them. One of the great things about Gene is he knew when and when not to use them. Definitely one of my favorite jazz pianists.
Can you imagine getting paid to have this much fun? Ron Eschete is one of the best there is, too bad he hasn't enjoyed the success of Herb Elis, Joe Pass ect.
