Great job with all those babies!! And thanks for sharing. We lost an avic avic 6 days after bringing her home. She was our first T. I beat myself up for quite some time, even though things just happen sometimes, even to the most experienced among us. This would have made me feel better at the time, so its truly awesome you made this video.
Thank you. We all go through it. Avics are tricky. They’re docile and cute but they can be tricky to keep. I’m glad the video gave you some comfort. Sometimes life does happen and sometimes you may not ever know what went wrong.
Hi Alex, great to see you back, glad you had a great time away, sorry the hunting was a no show though. Regrets about the P cambridgei and also the other losses, I do know how that feels, I lost 60 T's thanks to a nasty flat mate, long story. Great news about the Lp babies though, every cloud and all that. Keep well my friend 👍🏻
Man, that would be crushing to lose that many. I think I would have been done at that point. Hopefully I’ll get to do more tarantula hunting in the future. Definitely something I want to try again. 🤓👍🏼
@@TarantulaHaven Yeah I was pretty devastated tbh, lost some really, to me, important T's, but I'm bouncing back. Fingers crossed you get that chance, and, don't beat yourself up too much, some things are unfortunately out of our control, your Ac, temps, we can only do the best we can with what we have. We all know, you know yourself, it wasn't intentional 👍🏻
I wish you lots of strength! Sorry for your losses 😢 I feel with you, it's always hard. I love you and your channel, no matter how many videos you upload a week ❤
So awesome to get a new video from my favourite tarantula youtuber even if it is a sad one. I can relate with you to a lesser degree. My work started picking up lately and as such I have been away from home for extended periods of time and on top of that I also moved into a new place so things were a bit hectic and unfortunately my tarantulas got a bit neglected as of late which is no excuse but it does prove that sometimes life just gets a bit much all at once. Long story short I lost my E campustratus which was probably my rarest and friendliest t and it makes a person feel like a bad caregiver even if the circumstances were out of your complete control. But life is hard and sometimes we feel down but there are always positives to balance out the negatives.
Thank you. Yes. That is exactly how it feels. I know I probably could have done more but in the hustle and bustle of things I really didn’t have the time or the presence of mind to do it. I regret it but I really couldn’t have done things differently. I’ll recover and replace what I have lost but I feel bad that it cost those little ones their life. 😔
I'm so sorry this happened to you. I can't imagine how bad you felt, esp since half the sac wasn't yours. It's just a run of bad luck, who could've predicted you'd a broken AC at the same time as the worst/hottest summer on record?! Then the trip too! It's just one of those things.
Thank you. Yes, I’m using this as a new starting point and hoping for more positive experiences from this point forward. It can’t rain all the time. 😉👍🏼
So happy to hear from you, I'm sorry that you're on a down stretch with the tarantulas but you know that "up" is just around the corner. Love your videos keep up the hard work.
So sorry for all of your losses Alex 😭. The lp sac was phenomenal though 😊. Glad you had a good time with family. Best wishes for your new breeding projects. Tyfs God bless you
It's amazing that that tiny spithering in the eggshell grows into a big spider. But how do you maintain the feed price in the kennels? Spiders cost less to feed than reptiles, so that's comfortable.
I'm the same age as you are and I gotta give you credit for at least trying to find tarantulas but after all the unfortunate events there was triumph in the end. Beautiful babies ❤
LOL! It was difficult. Maybe I need to find an easier location to find them. 😂 Yes, I’m happy the egg sac turned out perfect and I’m at least able to send them something.
@@TarantulaHaven Its a very good note to make. Seems like its a general rule when it happens cross country/globe and with spiders not related, even though its the same species. we need a list of all species and the time for sacks to be ready. Iv never seen such a list. Its bit strange no one ever put one together.
I am still hesitant to breed LPs. i love the species, but the amount of slings inside is really worrying. But this experience will propably happen... sooner or later.
I was in the same boat. I wouldn’t have done it if I didn’t already have a vendor willing to take them all. That’s just too much volume for me to deal with. 🤓👍🏼
I forget if it was Rus, or Peter from Bugs in Cyberspace, but one of them once cited some stat that 80% (or some ridiculous number) of the biological mass in those SW desert areas is darkling beetles.
YOUR WIFE IS MY ELA TEACHER I DIDNT KNOW YOU ARE TARANTULA HAVEN??????? THATS SO COOL!!! (im in mrs. gastelums 6th period class you may know a cam/camden)
T's in the wild are not the same attack response as captive bred, they are a lot more timid, Alex when diddling (fishing) for tarantulas in their Burrows a more Gentle..approach is needed.. a cat's whisker taped to the end of a bit of grass touching the web Ever Ever so gently still won't guarantee a showing. Smashing on its door with a tree branch won't get you nowhere.. Very sorry for your losses but sadly also part of the hobby especially here in Australia.. with such insane temperature changes from one day to the next.. that's pretty much the hobby hear... just trying to keep our T's alive..
Thank you. Yeah, I pretty much knew there weren’t any T’s in most of those burrows but I was still trying. I know that Wilderness Nate floods the burrows to bring the T’s out but I truly didn’t think that any of those were T burrows. We brought water and if I had thought that we found a burrow that I thought was a legit burrow I would have flooded it. It was still fun trying. 😅
Thank you. I try not to but it’s tough. If I lose one it hurts but having so many at one time was a big blow. I think what makes it worse is that some of them were expensive gifts and I can’t help but feel a sense of responsibility to ensure that that animal thrives so I don’t disappoint the person who gave it to me. I know they didn’t give it with strings attached but I still feel guilt for it dying in my care. I’ll be ok. I just have to mull it over and deal with it and think about how I can prevent something like that from happening in the future.
Sheer neglect has caused them Ts too die there in a room that 85 degrees they've died through dehydration that's why they've gotten stuck in there molts and all the slings dried out lack off moisture dehydration is what's caused the death off all those Ts unfortunately something that could off been avoided next time you plan on going away please make sure you've got some body too look after your Ts for you make sure they've all got water they can go months without food but in that kind off heat dehydration kills them very quickly especially slings sorry for your losses 😭
What you've never made a mistake...? My mum used to say if you've got nothing nice to say don't say nothing at all.. obviously you're mum wasn't gracious enough 2 bestow such graciousness in you..Thanks for stating the obvious and rubbing the pain in even more..
@salliewells3549 just cause he's a RUclipsr doesn't mean that he gets the right too go on holiday without leaving some 1 too care for his Ts and as a result of that he's lost loads off them 1 including a T seladonia which most of us in the hobby would love too own but he got given 2 and 1s died due too neglect you wouldn't go on holiday and leave a dog for ages what's the difference with Ts

The beetle carrying the matchstick, lol, made me laugh so much, that it reminded me of an old song. Come on light on baby light my fire lol.
They were so cool. They’re a type of stink bug which is why they raise their butts up in the air when disturbed. It was neat just observing them.

Hello great video I live in the southern California area and tarantulas will come outside at about 830pm hours Alex

I breed superworms and the beetle form is a type of darkling beetle they are pretty cool and they are prolific breeders
Don't be hard on yourself, Alex. Sometimes, things don't work out, and the things that happened were out of your control.
Thank you. I know but it still hurts. Miserable end to a wonderful vacation. 😔
Do you have holes in the first cup you put inside the larger? Or how does the moisture get up through the container
Sadly holidays are out of the question in my line of keeping pets
2 months is EXACTLY what my LP sacks took to be ready. I dont recall the temp. But it was in my living room. So most likely around 22-23 Celsius.
Cool. Mine were kept at 24° C.
