Implication is she was pretending to have an iPhone to suggest that she is wealthier and more successful than she is.
The phone she had was not a smart phone, let alone an iPhone. It was a lie she told to feel more important. They also showed her sending an email from her laptop and typing out 'sent from iPhone'
I found this insanely disturbing - clearly she didn't have an iphone which HE KNEW. The fact that she would think to write that anyways and to what end? What did she aim to gain by it? I don't know why but it really disturbed me. I suppose it's just a strange unsettling detail but really encapsulates her
I wonder if they were burner phones since they all looked pretty cheap.
I felt like it went along with her obvious disconnect with reality and how people perceive her. The moment that she handed him her phone to try and get his number, I realized that the “sent from my iPhone” was something she was adding to her email signature on purpose, not really having any regard for the fact that someone can obviously see that she does not have an iPhone. It was like her not being able to afford a cup of tea, but insisting that she has a high-powered job and a ton of important clients. She tells obvious lies but thinks she’s fooling people.
I found it so annoying when she said she couldn’t afford anything, she could always just get a green tea or something, she might’ve been poor but she wasn’t THAT broke. Then when he offered to pay she got like 4 things 🤦🏻♀
But I wonder why she had a dresser full of cell phones, but no iPhone then would type it being from an iPhone. Does it just go along with her image of high status - like “all her homes” (when she lives in a tiny, dirty flat).
What?
This made me giggle.
Also seafish not "selfish"
-sent from ipphone
They were cheap flip phones. Remember when he take her back to her flat when she was about to freeze to death and he goes to the kitchen to make her a tea and he looks in the drawer with about 20 old flip phones? All burners I assume. She just had to keep up with her lies/delusion that she is the big top notch lawyer (even if she can’t afford a tea or glass of Diet Coke). 😅
Androids are better lmao
I laughed so hard at that one
The real Martha had an iphone. If you look at pictures of her online they show her taking selfish with an iphone. I think Netflix people realized this when doing research for the show and that's why they included the scene where he finds several different phones in her drawer. They knew people would find out she had an iphone the entire time and needed an explanation for it.
The show was written and the principal actor was the real victim of this (Gad). He explains what he went through. No Netflix did research for nothing
She probably has an Android
