In this video I show you guys how to install the Boomba short shifter and shifter solid base bushings... Авто/Мото
you're braver than i, i think i would have broken half the clips and scratched half my plastic panels up doing this. i want some shorter throws and possibly the shifter base bushings for some firmer shifts but this seems like a lot of intricate work. the steeda shifter install instructions include modifying the plastic pieces in the console and shifter area... this one is way different, great video, maybe i will brave this in the future, your video will make this a lot easier thx
Thanks For Watching!!!
Thanks for the work you put into making this video, Jason. Will definitely use as a guide when I give the shorty a go.
Thanks For Watching!!!
Hey I don't know if you ran into this at all or not but I just did the install using your video (thank you very much!) I used the white lithium grease like you said and the shifter ended up sticking and making all kinds of squeaking noises. I just ripped everything back apart and coated it with wheel bearing grease and now it works smooth as butter.
have not noticed this problem... is it hot where you live to where the grease could run out?
Jason Georgievski Nope not hot at all, I live in Missouri the weather has been in the 70's.I wonder if it was just machined a touch too big to cause rubbing. Oh well its fixed now.
ST3 4 ME kool
Great Video Jason!!!!!!
thanks!!! please like and share.
thanks
Good video.. as for the shifter looks like you get what ya pay for. Checkout the cobb short shift plate for a shorter shift and a lot less work.
Thanks For Watching!!!
I came here cuz I drive a ST
I subscribed for the cussing tho
You are an OG sir!!!
Nice job
thanks
Started work on my Boomba lever and some steps were a pain. Busted the prongs off the dowel pin area. Now im just gonna epoxy it back in place. I also just sanded down the stock ball since it wont get used again. All car projects can be a pain. Da struggle! Only easy part was the aluminum shifter bushing install
Thanks For Watching!!!
very kool...
Hope this video helped you!
Hope this video helped you!
do you know if there are any big changes from yours to the 2017. from what I've seen the cobb shifting plate all looks to be the same and the bomb blow off valve fits just as they say for 16's and older. but i haven't dug into this one much other than that
Robert Koehler i am pretty sure 99% is the same. call cobb and verify for what parts u want
What is the main reason why you went with this style short shifter and the plate (like the cobb)?
I do not have the plate. but I do have the bushings. look for that video tonight! anyways I wanted a good priced shifter that would lessen the throw of the stick. I did a time attack day and it shifted GREAT all day long.
Have you done the shifter plate yet Jason?
No I am not planning on it. the shifting is perfect with just the shifter.
Ooo to
huh?
How did you fix the reverse on the JBR knob?? i just installed this and i cant used the JBR, it wont wont into reverse, using stock knob now :(
you have to make sure you use the new connector they gave you for the reverse lock out!! it is much much shorter. you can not use the stock connector.
Yes i used that. When i thread the first nut on top of the spring it goes all the way down so it wont move but then the reverse wont work, its too short
you screwed down the first nut way too far then. please send pics to me. jasongeorgievski@gmail
How did you end up getting that shifter base ball out, a ton of pulling and wiggling? lol. I saw a video where a guy sanded it down some
Stewart Rolen do not sand!!! lube it up and start wiggling
Didn't you say you nearly broke the bracket trying to get the stock one out?
Stewart Rolen it felt like it. But seems to be strong plastic.
Jason Georgievski Ok, so I did the install today. Everything went pretty good, lol'ed at your comments about the shitty pin removal instructions. I ended up using a pick like you did and it came out pretty easy. One thing, do you notice yours sits back a little bit? Like instead of being in the middle of the leather boot, the shifter sits back more now. Neutral looks like where 4th used to be and 6th is very close to the edge of that shift "ring" trim panel
Why did you decide to get a ford focus?
best turbo hatchback on the market right now. I needed something somewhat sensible
