I'm pretty sure the appraiser was trying to help Rick with the Hendrix guitar by setting up a lowball playing field since that is an item that could easily go for double what was being asked. An authentic guitar regularly used by one of the greatest and most influential rock guitarists to ever live and you open with a 450k offer. The seller was very kind to not close the case and walk out without a word right then and there.

That dude with the Hendrix guitar, VERY smart business sense. He knew even with auction fees and what not, that some famous person whos a Hendrix fan would 100% pay a million dollars, and he would walk away with likely 900k minimum from an auction.
