Increase the blade life substantially if you pull back on the work thus cutting from fresh wood to dirty bark, cutting running onto the work makes the blade have to cut through the gravel instead of flicking it off
Thank you for your comment. I tend to run the opposite way to prevent bark buildup ahead of the cut, but I can see where your suggestion would work very well. I find the blades that come with the Log Wizard are great quality steel. I've only had to sharpen once after several seasons of using it. Thanks for watching.
Yes can be used with electric saw, no not good for stripping just bark, it will dig fast and leaves a very uneven surface, hard to control the depth.A power hand plane would work much better.A debarker on your bandsaw would work much better for keeping rocks and dirt out of the band blade. Also I prefer a very small saw so it's light and easy to move, it doesn't take much power to turn it.
That's definitely a good option for small harvests. I use a logging winch on my tractor and regularly yard 12-20 logs at a time. An arch wouldn't be my best choice.
@@ERLong-ww7yn Yup, your time well spent pulling 12-20. I pull 1 or 2 with a log arch and it takes time!! If I could I'd rather pull 12 like you then debark as you do. It all depends on the initial tools you have: huge tractor and winch vs small ATV and log arch. All sorts of situations, neverending possibilities.
I don’t debark the whole log with my HUD-SON Debarker. I just clear a line along the log where my blade will enter it. Takes me about 30 seconds to do an 8’ log.
Will this take the sticky cambium layer off? I don’t have a mill I’m trying to make my own fence posts but using a drawknife is proving to be quite a task. Thanks.

awesome.
make yourself a small log arch to bring your logs out, doesn't tear up the woods, and keeps the logs clean.

I tend to do the whole log as I'm always encountering gravel as I turn it to take the slab on three sides.

Yes it will
How many linier feet can can you debark until you gotta recsharpen or replace the blades
I used it sporadically for four years before sharpening. Mind you, I don't debark every log i saw, only the ones that pick up a lot of gravel.
My next purchase!
very cool man
Thank You.
