In the Championship you don't have to have a good season. It's enough to finish at 6th if your team is running hot during the Playoffs you get promoted to the Premier League. Which seems a bit odd to me. In the 2. Bundesliga on the other hand the team has to finish 3rd. Then they'll get the chance to get promoted. And it does happen... best example Union Berlin. The kicked Stuttgart out off the Bundesliga. So there is a chance... you have to make the best out of it. I think over all the quality in the Bundesligas is more equal due to the fewer clubs. Which is quite obvious. 36 teams are naturally closer together than 44. And what's that thing about the old saying... "All killer, no filler" ;)
In my opinion it's more exciting to have a semifinal stage in the playoffs. It's not like 6th place is mid table which would reward mediocrity which happens in the Netherlands (NAC Breda turned into peak Brazil in the playoffs despite being very poor) and Italy where there's a quarterfinal round.
Hi Ry, stumbled over your vlog. Very interesting to get an outside view on our Bundesliga system and the Football enthusiasm in Germany! Well, I think that it is sufficient to only having 18 clubs in each league, Just for the reason not to overload the season for both parties, players and fans. The big sponsors, of course, would like to drive their " horses " far more often to the pitch, only to make money and revenue on their " investments ". People are treated like gladiators, liked and cheered at as long as they perform, but quickly written off and cast in front of the lions ( not the English heraldic ones ). We German fans are very sensitive regarding modern slavery. To my opinion there is an advantage that still almost 80% of the players in the 2nd league are Germans. This provides an enormous potential for national resources. Even, if later they may look for their chances abroad, they will come back with a lot of knowledge and practice to enrich the 1st league. Thus, the Bundestrainer can profit from a talent pool lateron. The best teamplayers often come from less successful clubs, because they can win only as a good team. Unfortunately, many good players get spoiled and feel they deserve the first violin all the time, but forget to listen to the cue of just the drummer. I have been Dortmund fan ever since. 🐝🐝🐝👍

The difference between Bundesliga 2 and the Championship is the Championship is more physical and teams play more long balls. Bundesliga 2 is more tactical and the passing is better. Look at the German forward Robert Glatzel. He has scored 65 goals in 100 games for Hamburger SV, yet only managed 10 goals in 57 games for Championship Cardiff City. He is a player who likes the ball at his feet, whereas in the Championship having a brute up front to cause problems to defenders with their strength and presense, and who enjoy a battle has been the way many teams go. The same is true for certain midfielders as well. Players like Glatzel, who are good with the ball at their feet and possess a catalogue of skills, often struggle with the physical aspect of games in the Championship. I was looking forward to Tim Walters interesting risk and reward attacking style of football in the Championship this year, but 3 games in it's still work in progress. Tim Walter is finding out first hand It's hard to break down Championship teams that allow you to have possession, whilst they are playing a high-intensity press in midfield, and engage in high physicality. In fairness, the players at his disposal at Hamburger SV had more technical ability than most of the players he currently has in his squad and were all coached to his playing philosophy over a period of 2-3 years. It is goals that win games. Boasting high possession means nothing in the Championship when your team gets bullied in midfield and lacks efficeicny and conviction going forward. I beleive the latter two were also a problem when he managed Hamburger SV.

I think both second divisions have their pros and cons. I believe that the absolute top end of the championship is capable of playing better football - we've seen a group of friendlies being played by Leeds this season, they did really well against the 2. Bundesliga teams. However, I think that the 2. Bundesliga is closer together thanks to less teams and stuff - I think the championship ends up having a lot of dead games, those that don't matter at all any longer. 2. Bundesliga fan support is absolutely unbeatable, though. I do agree that promotion playoffs are a way better system than relegation playoffs as they are in germany.
I'd pick the German promotion/relegation over the English promotion. As a fan its different for me to see an 2nd tier club fighting other 2nd tier clubs for promotion, which they do all season long in England. But to have seen Union Berlin sercuring their first promotion to the Bundesliga by beatig Bundesliga giants VfB Stuttgart in a promotion/relegation battle feels quite like a more massive achievement and therefor give me more goosebumps.

what you might not know is that football championships were also played in Germany before 1963 ... so if you do it with England, you also could do it with Germany. Thats also the times where clubs like Schalke, Kaiserslautern, Köln or Nürnberg DOMINATED german football
Ry you forgot the East german first divison called "Oberliga"! The 1. If you count champions from the 1920's, you should also regard the champions from the 2nd Bundesliga before 1963. For example Schalke was 7 times champion between 1934 and 1958, Nürnberg 9 times (1 time in Bundesliga), Hertha 2 times, even Fürth won at least 2 titles...
I think that Bundesliga must have 20 football teams and not only 18. Germany is a big country with many big cities. There are a lot of teams like HSV, Schalke, Koeln, Nuernberg with big fanbase . Bundesliga must have 20 teams.
Since German football fans care about fan / club culture and the history of the sport actually 99% I guess don’t support any type of relegation/ playoff system. 3 teams should go up and 3 down. Those extra matches are only for money reasons and they aren’t needed or fair. A full season should decide on which league you play and not 2 games or even a penalty shootout
16:00 no, we don’t prefer ANY relegation playoff system. We don’t need relegation playoffs. Nobody ever asked for relegation playoffs, it’s just a marketing stunt. When you finish 16th you should be relegated and not be able to save your ass against the 3rd place of the 2nd Bundesliga

Tbf, I think the fact Germany has a larger population than England and has less professional football clubs than England has helps with the attendance.
@Justin-ii6xh if you acctually bothered to do some research before making a silly comment, you would know only the top 3 divisions in Germany are classed as professional consisting of 56 teams, where the English League system has 4 leagues that are classes as professional consisting of 92 teams 🤦♂️🙄

Those extra matches are only for money reasons and they aren’t needed or fair. A full season should decide on which league you play and not 2 games or even a penalty shootout
@@20DAVID09 I agree but the promotion playoffs are good fun here 🤩
Eintracht Braunschweig 1967 German 1.Bundesliga Champion and 1.FC Nürnberg 1968 1.Bundesliga Champion .
You have to go to a home game of HSV, you will be 100% convinced
Could I just turn up at an english stadium Saturday lunchtime and buy a ticket ...? I think no, but I can in Hamburg, no problem...
Can you though in Hamburg?
Watch a Game in Kaiserslautern from the Club 1.FC Kaiserslautern The Red Devils from Betzenberg!
fantastic club and look forward to seeing a game
Best trikot my friend 💙🤍💯
I really love the appreciation of our football.
But yall repeat the same mistake here as back home. Overhype freaking everything. Its a great league, thats it.
One more thing:!
More "bloo*y" Games, artificial Non-meaning Cups, work Vice versa!
2.Bundesliga ; mich more Passion, Soul and Heart!
Fan Culture yes, Player Quality no
I personally think that the 2. Bundesliga is better because of the fallen giants
You were called billie eilish 😂
Well, Bundesliga two will have more average attendance than championship League
fortuna düsseldorf are doing free tickets again this season.
Hertha Berlin, fc schalke, Hannover, Hamburg, köln and fc kaiserslautern to name a few.😊
Fc nürnberg won German league a few times too.
Some people like Bundesliga relegation promotion play off.😮
English football league championship play off system is good for a team such a sixth place team can go up to League above.
Tbf, I think the fact Germany has a larger population than England and has less professional football clubs than England has helps with the attendance.
Attendance is better in Germany because they have a larger population than England and have less professional football clubs than England
Fair shout that mate!
"Less professional football clubs" that´s complete nonsense but keep making excuses for the Championship.
@@LeedsAwaybut you can’t deny German fans are by far more passionate than english fans. And there are a lot of teams in lower divisions which aren’t professional with a huge attendance to their games, more than some premier league teams
@@LeedsAway what's the definition of professional here anyways? Because also in the 4th tier and mainly in the 5th tier, the players are football players full-time.
Tinpot foreign league compared with the utterly bonkers Champ
Championship League is better than Bundesliga 😄
What is the fucking
tching high class football without never bring to eben play the Body Entrance,!
Im really sorry mate im not quite sure what you’re trying to say 😅
You are obsessed with German football right now lol When are going to give the Scots some love?
@@seanlocke2228 I am 🤩 Scottish football isn’t really my forte mate 😁 just sticking to the English & German leagues mostly for now 👍🏾
It is more exciting than the oil money Premier League
Sorry, but one more super important fact!
THE 1.Bundesliga and the second are effortable, for everyone, for Christs-Sake!
du meinst affordable oder?
No, but neither is the Bundesliga. Harry Kane wouldn't score 36 goals in a championship season.
Hahahahahaha
Controversial 👀
What about Erling Haaland? Or Kevin de Bruyne? Or Ilkay Gündogan? Just a few examples it works the other way around…
