I love how Richards laugh at 3:48 is the first bit you hear that sounds close to Gaston's voice. You can tell by the audience's reaction they heard it too. It's so different to his normal voice!
He actually did it on purpose, waiting exactly for audience's reaction & sending them a message. He's a very interesting person and an excellent artist!
This reminds of that one House of Mouse episode where Gaston claims to be better at everything. And then in the end says: "No one breaks a leg like Gaston" and he actually goes off and breaks his legs on purpose. So funny. And of course, Richard White was once again asked to do the voice.
"Promises you don't intend to keep"...that line always got me, and years later learning the story behind it...still kills me! Best line in the movie by a long shot!
Don't forget David Ogden Stiers was also the narrator. An awesome one too. He was my childhood as Cogsworth and Jumba in the "Lilo and Stitch" Franchise. He's a man who is dedicated to his characters. I wish Disney still had him doing voice work in their animated movies today.
You haven't seen Hunchback? He was Archdeacon and in Pocahontas he was Radcliffe and then in Atlantis: The Lost Empire he was Mr Harcourt and then we have Gryzlikoff from Darkwing Duck and Mr Jolly from Teachers Pet among other works from Disney. He has been around in several Disney films/series, his voice is a little more legendary in Disney films to fans then his role in M*A*S*H even though he is loved by Disney fans also for that role but it is peoples childhoods he was in when those who know him from M*A*S*H were not born so they don't have that affinity with him even if they have seen reruns.
Jodee Rebecca Davey Ahh then you have some watching to do when you have time, he is awesome as Radcliffe in Pocahontas and the Archdeacon in Hunchback, he has songs in those two that show off his singing voice s bit more than he could show off as Cogsworth. Besides, Pocahontas and Hunchback of Notre Dame are just great films in general...their sequels, not so much.
Isaiah Williams he's my favorite actor ever. I am very very blessed to know him, and NO he isn't my favorite because I know him. Yes watch every movie or tv show on his IMDB. They are all amazing
It amazes me how different Richard White's real voice is compared to Gaston's. Richard is usually a very private person, so you never see him do interviews, so this is the first video interview that he did since playing Gaston.
Actually, Richard White DID do, at least, one interview when he was performing in the production of "Phantom: An American Musical". That is up on RUclips, if you go and look for it.
Give me a week to think about it and I will not come up with a more underrated actor than David Ogden Stiers. The man was immensely talented. Not near as known or as beloved, but every bit as gifted as the likes of Tom Hanks, Dustin Hoffman, ect.
I LOVE Richard White. If any of you have seen him in Yeston & Kopit's "Phantom", you'll know he plays a heartbreaking protagonist as well as a menacing villain! If you haven't yet, the full show is on youtube, albeit in poor quality. It's on Spotify too!
Mr Richard White did not miss once to give credits to Mr Ashman and Mr Menken, that is what true artists & professionals always do. He is such a gentleman and a sophisticated artist with a great sense of humour!!
@@noahdonnell9374 I know, I was talking about Carlos Petrel, he was the voice of Lumiere in Latin Spanish. My point was that I can understand how it feels to lose the original voice actor.
It's not the same w/o Jerry Orbach. He passed 12yrs ago. But, he'll always be my fave Lumiere & I still adore "Be Our Guest" I also thought Henri Lubatti playing him on ABCs OUAT S3E15. Lubatti's perf. was brief, but had an interesting CGI portrayal. However, I can't wait to see how Ob-Ewan voices him. xD Well, in the recent&new trailer he sounds absolutely&shockingly great.
Until he did the character laugh for kicks & giggles, you would never have been able to tell that Richard White was the voice of Gaston. I mean, you can kind of hear a tinge of Gaston in his natural voice, but in general Richard is so soft spoken & seems like a really nice guy. Threw me for a bit of a loop lol
Unfortunately in today's society we still have a lot of entertainment which promotes the idea that someone who's a nice person but ugly or less attractive is the villain and the horrible beauty is the hero.
How Andreas said about gastons different designs at first, with big jaw and and mustache, and Gaston just looks really handsome with no mustache, (facial hair) no ugly face and about the story we’re trying to tell here, about beast and Gaston. I like that statement
@@speedracer2008Yup. And Gaston is similar to Hans in a way. Except Hans wasn’t being a jerk while being a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Both are so hot but they’re ugly and evil on the inside.
All that we saw of Gaston in KH was that paper copy in KHux 🤨 His missing boss fight that should have been in KH2 was one of the series' weakest points.......
Sadly we didn’t get to see him in KH3. At least we get to see him in KH Union X. Only problem is that they didn’t have voice acting with the speech bubbles. I wish they did and we could’ve heard Richard White reprising his role as Gaston in a KH game. Also wish we had more interaction with Gaston in the game. And a proper and epic boss fight.
I love how Richards laugh at 3:48 is the first bit you hear that sounds close to Gaston's voice. You can tell by the audience's reaction they heard it too. It's so different to his normal voice!
he looked so stunned too when they laughed. He was like "what?" lol

RIP David Ogden Stiers. He was part of such a magical cast (many magical casts, given the many iconic animated live action pieces that he starred in).

He did an interview after making the movie [early 90s] that appeared on the special edition dvd.

hearing david’s normal voice is jarring compared to the high, nasally thing he does for cogs. rip man, thanks for creating my childhood.
Richard White did a version of Phantom of the Opera and his singing voice is Gaston.
REST IN PEACE: DAVID OGDEN STIERS
R.I.P. Howard Ashman
R.I.P. Jerry Orbach
R.I.P. David Ogden Stiers and Tony Jay
What about Hal Smith, Mary Kay Bergman and Rex Everhart? They passed on as well.
Yeah, Gaston was more villain-like than Beast. A la Prince Hans, Gaston's heart was more frozen than Beast's was.
Unfortunately in today's society we still have a lot of entertainment which promotes the idea that someone who's a nice person but ugly or less attractive is the villain and the horrible beauty is the hero.

That means when we meet the Beast, he is horribale looking, he is scarying looking but we found out through of the story that he has a heart of gold
Exactly. The opposite goes for Gaston. He starts out handsome and funny (in a very jerkish way), but as he develops, you see how horrible he is.
