Anyone else go to thrift stores or antique malls and see bizarrely weird stuff and think, "Jocelyn would totally buy that"
The tidbit is actually a bon bon dish. Bon bon literally translates from the French as good good. Bon bons are candies such as chocolate covered cherries, truffles and ganashes. They would have a particular slant shaped tongs for serving.
The waffle cones are for sundaes. There was a time that you couldn't get an ice cream cone on a Sunday because it was considered rude to be licking it on a Sunday.
The art was at least inspired by the New York artist Keith Hering. Because his work was basically graffiti, there's not a lot of it to be had. New York recently acknowledged him as a true artist because of the impact he had in a modern genre. Hering died in the 80s of AIDS.
Thank you for adding so much background information!😊
The vintage owl cannister is everything! I have a large owl planter which is home to a healthy spider plant - so the owl rocks BIG green hair 😅 It's a statement piece🦉🪴😂
Yes I think a good buy and seems more practical as a planter because it looks pretty heavy to me for a canister
I am glad you picked up the owl canister. Those of us out there who make-do-and-mend are very happy to restore something. For ceramic and glass it is just a bit of careful sanding with 80-3000 grit sandpaper will erase chips and smooth pout jagged ceramic. Have a wonderful thrifty week!
Thank you for the sandpaper tip! I may try that on pyrex lids 🙂
I do the same now if I can find a way to replace glass beaks! lol
Didn't she have an umbrella stand with the exact owl on it a while back? I think it was from Pier One😊
Exactly, I would repair the heck out of it.. there are ways around every detail.
Yup :) That is me as well :) Have a lovely day!@@yeatmans5acrehomesteading291
Keith Haring is the 80s artist who painted those bright colored figures.
My mom always said, “Two can live as cheaply as one, if one doesn’t eat”. 💜
😄
I have a friend that picks up single S & P shakers. She collects hat pins and uses the singles to display the pins.
I also collect hat pins but I found the original hat pin holders about ten 0f them.
Cool idea.
I believe Keith Haring is the 80's/90's artist you were trying to think of 16:43
Joslyn, my daughter worked at Homegoods, don’t dismiss an item because it came from there, they get a lot of high end items from corporate that buy last items left in inventory from high end distributors, that’s why sometimes they only have 1 or 2 of something. I have flipped many homegoods pieces and scored good money🥰🥰🥰 high end glass and pottery 😉
Big Lots used to be that way when they first started. They would buy out high end stores I still have a few pieces from the 90's that would sell for good money now. They also had a sister store call Odd Lots for groceries, mostly non perishable a lot of them were name brand items.😊
The clear and frosted tray with trees is Kosta Boda! Flipped it before.
She got it for a steal too. Ebay has them for around $45. Bargain!
Love that piece too!!
i think it is walther glas from germany, my mother had a small plate. it was very common in germany in the 80 ies. there are various decors and sizes.
I thought it looked special as well
I am so excited to see this on this episode. I picked one up a few years ago at Goodwill for a few dollars and now I finally know what it is!
Use a big stand up plate holder to put Mr. Bormolli on so it could be vertical in your booth and take less space 😊
Some Home Goods items are great to pick up. They are liquidators after all. That Fish plate was adorable.
The gnomes are from Idaho, notice the state shape. 208 is our area code, which gets used a lot on advertising.
The blue swirl bowl, why wouldnt you grab that one for the booth, too? Just curious as to your thought process for leaving that one behind but then getting the big, clear glass tree tray/plate... Thanks! ❤
The owl cookie jar can be used for utensils.
That glass platter with trees is outstanding!❤
i received that as a wedding gift in 1987
I used to live near this goodwill, and I couldn't watch the videos of it for fear of missing cool stuff, but now that I moved I can watch again!
Ha ha this is so very true!!!
The flower plate is a Dartington Glass Daisy plate for cake or cheese
Yes! Good spot. Part of their 1970's Daisy Collection by Frank Thrower. I live near the Dartington Crystal factory and you can go in and watch their master makers at work, from glass blowing - to packing. A great manufacturing survivor ✨
That owl canster is so cute .it would make a cute vase for a plant 🪴. ❤
I thought the owl was really cool! I hope you kept him! I also thought the red trivet was cool. For starting slow, you sure ended up with the full cart. Thanks for sharing! 💕👍
80's painter, Keith Haring.
LOVE the owl as a vase! It is always great to see something cool repurposed instead of discarded. I hope you kept it! Also love the kitchy girl!
So glad you kept the owl jar/vase, he would also make a wonderful lamp! It was so cool!
Absolutely 😊
OMG! I love that owl cookie jar. Even if the lid is cracked or chipped. I collect Cookie Jars,
The clear glass platter with the etched tree is my favorite, the owl canister was a close second.
Beside the sunflower trivet is a mustsrd colored dish. Maybe a haeger sunflower ashtray? The edge is the same.
Your Jenga stack of breakable items in your cart almost gives me a heart attack. I'm so impressed at how good you are at stacking your cart without breaking anything. Super impressive! 😂
Well, I recognize that sunflower trivet I had those for wedding gifts in the 1970s in England that came in a set of three different sizes. Oddly sloped and slippery and things always fell off them, so I finally got rid but they’re very pretty
Dartington glass, I have one I found in a charity shop in Glasgow x
Ha! ha! a chuckle for the "sloppy angel", loved your choices today.
Saw the waffle cone cup at a local GW tonight but in a clear aqua color. I ended up getting cute stuffed snowman stocking holders for Christmas. Score!!
Hi Jocelyn. Glad you kept the owl jar. It can be used as a cookie jar,(we did before ours broke), or as a planter. It's beautiful. Really good finds today for Goodwill. You do get lucky that way sometimes. God bless.❤️🙂
You picked up beautiful stuff. Many thanks.❤
That was fun a full cart day! Good eye❤
The clay house she picked up is very similar to a set of clayhouses. I picked up in Germany. They usually have a base and you can put a tea light in them.
Always amazes me how you get all that fragile stuff home without breakage!Youve most likely have a system.
FRUIT SALAD…YUMMY YUMMY.
That was in my head too! I know all their songs because my girls loved The Wiggles when they were younger!
One day I will meet you. I went through the gnomes and bought the Saint Patrick day one. Looked at a few of the same items as you, but I am not a reseller. But I learn a lot watching the channel.
That owl works be an awesome utensil container
Pretty good trip. Really like the purple Italian dish. Unique
Jocelyn, your sweet spirit shines bright! You are helping get me through the winter! If you ever run into a Kintsugi small vase ( a knock off), I will take it...
Those sunglasses are massive on you !!!!!
For scuffing on frosted glass and other wipeable surfaces, use a wet magic eraser. It works wonders!
Lmaooooooo is she picking her nose hair? ….I literally spit my coffee out🤣🤣🤣
Glad you saved the owl! He’s been there for a bit!
Wow…great shopping….full cart…very enjoyable! A lot of good stuff for $105.00.
The THT might stand for Tender Heart Treasures which is a part of the Oriental Trading Company and would be worth very little.
Love " the sloppy angel" LOL!! I could listen to your comments all day!!😂
Always pick up those turkey platters😮.i do😊
The glass with the trees is gorgeous!
Hi Jocelyn❤️ The tree plate, wow!!
The green jar w lid is from Teavana. Just a thermos to keep your tea.
interested in the glass plate with the trees on it..will keep my eye out for the listing on your site
Damaged owl container would make a great planter
Pretty sure the glass plate with daisy is English Dartington , if no label or wording on their items they sometimes just put the letter D
THe owl would be cool for umbrellas
The green vase with blue applied lines might be Blenko
I would have picked up the fish plate
You could use silk flowers to display the owl as a vase
I love the red trimmed candy dish that you found! I thrifted a decanter, crystal ice bucket and four bowls in that same design a few weeks ago. It's gorgeous. I've never seen a crystal ice bucket before. Not sure how effective it will be n storing ice but it sure is pretty. 😂😂
Love the interior of your vehicle❤
I am glad you kept the awesome owl!
Great video my friend!! Love going to the thrift stores with you!! They have cool stuff!! Love you and your channel my friend!! God bless you!! 🥰🥰💙💙🙏🙏🌺🌺💖💖💜💜❤️❤️🦋🦋🌹🌹💕💕💕
the glass plate with the sunflower is Dartington
I can’t believe they’re not blasting music in the background. Our Goodwill is always blasting music. I like the clear glass canister that you got. 10:39
Thank you for the fun video … as always , enjoy shopping with you
Glass platter is studio nova (looks like Iittala but isn’t)
Great haul, happy for you 😊
I love Goodwill
My grandmother is a owl person she would’ve picked that owl put a flower in it and people would be asking where did you get that 😂
The vase you picked up @14:55 reminds me of a Blenko one I have. Mine is blue with an applied yellow swirl.
I had to put down my dog Thursday he was 16,I held him until the end 😢. I cannot comprehend that he is not here 😢. Last night I watched your paperweight sale, and thank you for creating good wholesome content. For a little while my sadness disapated, you and Andrew are a great team.
Sorry for your loss.
Loved the sunflower plate & the glass platter with the trees! Glad your trip there was not a bust ! 2024 is starting off well ❤ xox
Cracks me up she didnt want the bowl because it was too big and immediately picks up the plate the same size or bigger....lol
It is her choices,
You can always go somewhere else,,,
❤
Platter is easier to ship
Wow @@mickeymarkman8232
Didnt say it was easier to ship I was just commenting on the sizes. Everyone loses their minds.
@@amycarroll7751 I know what you mean. She says she got too much art already, buys a piece of art. Says she has enough lamps, buys a lamp anyway. I get you. 😂 it’s an endearing trait of hers.
Keith Haring is the artist
His art sales for a lot of money.
Love this Goodwill, I just wish I lived closer to it.
Gnomes are a big thing now days. Between my 3 daughters and myself we love them.
I think the crystal serving platter you picked up with the trees may be Studio Nova. I have several pieces for year round decorations.
The dove with all the holes may be for baking soda to put in the refrigerator.
208 Gnomes are out of Boise, Idaho. So cool they made it all the way over to the east coast!
I THINK THT is Tender Heart Treasures. It used to be a catalog you could order from.
Hope you kept that giant owl ! i will look for him in your booth!
I just found your swirl bowl on Ebay. Some are saying it's a punch bowl...others show it with salad bowls. I would keep it...but you are an entrepreneur...you decide!
Love your videos
💙✨💙 I agree on the B R, way too big for shipping cost, but awesome deal for a collector like myself
Cart mayhem....
Man, That GW can be dangerous! I have found some amazing stuff in there
Loved the video ❤😊
I like watching because I can't afford to go thrifting right now. Also here in SW Missouri the Goodwill stores are only 4-5 shelves of non clothing and those shelves are sparse. Amazing to find others in other places cramned full
I live in sw Mo and I agree. We do have some antique and flea markets that are often reasonable. I have also found things at smaller thrift stores.
Same here! Fixed income limits preclude spending right now but soooo much fun watching...and LEARNING! 👍🥰
It seems like its been months since weve seen your booths.
Keith Haring is the artist you're thinking of...
I love your show. Can’t wait for the next one. You explain a lot about different things. Learn something new everyday. Happy shopping.
Great finds. 😊
Looks like this one made the trip worthwhile after the bust at the previous one!
I thought for sure you would have at least looked at the stacking peacock mugs at 5:45.
I thought they were cool but I probably wouldn't be very good at reselling either.😊
The artist's name is Keith Haring
Has anyone else ever seen an item that Jocelyn walks by and decides they have to have it? Peacock mugs at 8:40 or at least similar to should be headed my way thanks to a shop on eBay.
208 gnomes is the trade mark of who makes them in Boise ID
Love the art so colorful. And te Owl Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day
the top of that owl could be used as a base
I would love some assistance from this CLL community regarding black lights. What is the difference between a UV black light and an all spectrum black light and which one do you (does Jocelyn) use for detecting the glowy aspects of glassware?
