as a dark souls fanboy and especially dark souls 3, i love seeing new players join especially newcomers that are getting good reception, remember there is no wrong way to play as long as you are enjoying it, have a good game man and enjoy the world of lothric.
So last episode you asked about what Bonfire Levels was and how you increase your amount of healing from your Estus. Both of those are linked to Undead Bone Shards. Burning them at Firelinks bonfire increases your Bonfire level as well as how much your Estus Flasks heal. As for the symbol next to your HP bar it shows what covenant you're a part of. If it has fire on it that helps show that you're Embered. If it's just the symbol then you're not embered, and if there's no symbol there then you're not in any Covenant. In DS3 you can freely be a part of any covenant as long as you have their emblem equipped. Ultimately it's only useful for PVP, but for some it's fun to Roleplay being a part of a faction. I personally enjoy helping other players and like the lore of my DS3 covenant as well so I vibe as a Blade of the Darkmoon. Which is a covenant you'll possibly discover later. Currently you're with the Blue Sentinels covenant.
13:31 Bro this spot right here used to drive me crazy on my first playthrough. Especially when all three of the thralls pop out the door on the left and you just get bombarded by every enemy at once... of course followed by the souls run straight to the big ass door 😂
a new ds3 video from ajae after I got home from working all day. can't get any better. nier automata soundtrack? oh fuck yes! spoiler free tip: to follow along with yoels storyline (the draw out true strenght guy), get 5 free levels before fighting the boss at the end of swamp area. otherwise you'll be locked out of it. I'm guessing you'll go to that area next.
@ajxeee tbf, it's impossible to know about it going in blind. same as with anri and horance's quest line (the two you meet at the beginning of road of sacrifices).
You were so busy avoiding fights (not very dark souls of you) that you didn’t get a proper explore done in the Cathedral. You missed TWO shortcuts back to the bonfire (that’s why you had such long run backs), a vendor, an NPC quest line, actually, 3 NPC quest lines (Seigward, Greirat, and Patches), a covenant, and the stat re-allocation NPC. Some of that is multiplayer related and maybe not a big deal for you, but it does illustrate the importance of level clearing.
@ I get it. My point is that if you are trying to “get past” the enemies instead of killing them, the mob that is chasing you will not give you any time to explore. Im having fun watching you, don’t get me wrong, and I completely agree irythill is one of the most badass locations in all of fromsoft. Cheers!
The giant on the tower won’t shoot at you anymore, just the people around you. He’s really a chill bro if you get to know him.

I do try and explore as best I can, but I'm probably not gonna find everything on my first playthrough

Your healthbar grows if you get embered this can happen when you kill a boss or use an ember but if you die it goes back to normal🫴🏻
