I like that morganite is technically an archetype now, would be nice to end up with a few more of them, the cards so far are stupid but an archetype designed around them that can really take advantage of them in an interesting way could be cool
I just started testing them out and theyre pretty good with a lot of potential options like d link, fiend spam whatever, and other options. So far I built it by using it with fiendsmith, super poly (no mater what they summon its a target) unchained, and light darkness dragon engines (only need 3 cards for it so why not). Can get some pretty neat boards, but god I really wish i could run draw cards.
Gonna copypaste my own rant on Morganite from a discord convo: it has all the same problems as the other morganite card the problem isnt that it shuts off handtraps (and also incidentally prevents you from playing any number of decks that need to activate in hand), its that you have to build your deck with 0 hand traps in it or else they become bricks when you *do* activate it, which then means you are at a *massive* disadvantage in games you dont find it, not even getting into the actual debate on if its worth it to play without handtraps, especially in the current state of the game where nonengine is just everything in order for this to see play outside of janky stun decks that dont care about stuff like that because they just draw into 5 floodgates, they need to print a link 1 that adds it to hand so you can guarantee you see it every game. I dont even think a 3rd maindeck card would be enough, 9 copies is a lot but if you're building your whole deck around it to this extent you *need* to see it every game. Not to mention the myriad decks in which this is just straight up unplayable because their playmakers activate from the hand. Horus, Bystials, Tearlament, etc etc
I really like the morganite cards. I think the biggest problem is that they don't work for a lot of decks, but I don't think that makes them bad. The main downsides are that they turn off hand monster effects, and while it's a heavy restriction, I think it's a little overblown and throwing off peoples' perception of the cards. For example, if you're going first using Morganite, it doesn't have a ton of restrictions, because you can hold it until you need the second normal summon, or after you've used necessary hand effects. You can still respond with a lot of defensive options like TTT, Called By, Crossout. Going second it works even better because you can still use your handtraps against the first player. Plus, you can still use cards like Imperm. This makes it a lot more valuable in decks that can use cards like imperm, or that new "ash blossom but trap" they made. For Morganite, then, the REAL downside is that it takes a long time to work, so you need a deck that can benefit from that and there aren't a lot of decks that can do that without being floodgates. I run Morganite in a more casual traptrix deck. It turns off parallel exceed, but that's mostly a problem if you draw into it on later turns. It turns off arachnocampa, so I replaced it with Nephentes which now can generate a good amount of advantage and some interruptions. And the deck is slow enough that it can potentially get benefit from it. I think the cards are fine, but will just require the right (non floodgate) deck to take advantage of the effects.
New union guy means we can stop using both toys and galaxy soldier to get CDI.. Or the other new union stuff but I don't know much about them. Main problem being that the best way to summon it in ABC is soldier discarding 2 pieces and the others don't really do the pieces in anyway that isn't just you already having the pieces and just doing the normal.
End exalting morganite would be pretty good in a version of Tenpai that plays board breakers instead of hand traps. It let's you pull off the otk while playing through multiple interruptions.
The new Morganite might see play in OTK centric blind 2nd lists that don't care about hand effects on their turns. And since you don't have to activate it at the START of your main phase since it's a battle phase centric card, I can see this being used in Scareclaws or maybe other big hitters that don't use hand effects during the battle phase
Dream Absorber reads like a card designed specifically to make Prog Playoffs more annoying . You've got attack to keep track of with counters, you've got an effect which activates from the GY every turn for people to forget about, you've got a gimmicky big bungus that will be hard to get around if you have no removal.
That's what I was thinking. He's talking about all the aspects too, like lore and novelty. This vid was much more enjoyable than the usual dismissiveness. If you read these please continue MBT.
I suddenly want to experiment with Purrely Morganites. Just replace all the monster hand traps (Ash, Nib, etc) with more Imperms and both Morganites. Draw 2 per turn is great because Purrely wants cards in hand to pitch to Memories, Normal twice is good because you might draw a Purrely and a Purrelyly so you won't even have to discard to a Memory to summon from deck, and an extra attack per monster as well as doubled battle damage really help the EHappy OTK on turn 2 (going second) or turn 3 (going first).
Dream Absorber does have a use case, but it's definitely weird. Use it on your turn to punish their first hand trap and scare them away from using more hand traps. If you keep it on the field, it builds up power as your opponent counters you, giving you a chance to punch over something big; otherwise, it's a free body to Link climb or XYZ into a Rank 2. It can also summon itself from grave, so it's a free summon whenever your opponent tries to respond with a monster.
Union Pilot can be used, but it's hard to do before the important stuff, and the Galaxy Soldier package is more consistent and versatile (though it takes one more ED slot, but not really because to make the combo work with pilot you need th shitty starry rank 4 or whatever its name is)
dream absorber might be a good going second option. i think the intent might be hey you can block my combo all you want but your going to have to deal with this 4k+ beatstick
Was debating Moraganite for Gem-Knights just because it sounded funny and I can always use more draw power in that deck, Now with this... I wanna make Battle Phase Gem-Knights even stronger than they were before the release of Brilliant Fusion.
New Morganite is weird. They made it so that the benefits only work if you are battling monsters, not direct attacking, otherwise every OTK deck would want it in order double/quadruple their damage output, and OTK decks that neutralize their opponents board instead of clearing still might, that and Crusadia-Kaiju but I don't think that really needs the help. And stun decks really don't need the effect, especially when it is telegraphed and the opponent can play around by just not playing monsters until they can play through existing disruptions to kill you. At the moment I can only really see it being a FBG target in said stun decks to search Time-Tearing
The Morganite looks like it'll open up more decks to Going Second OTK strategies. Burn your hand traps on your opponent's turn or before you activate it, then its a free double damage which could be enough to push for game even through disruptions. Will at least be a funny buff in Chaos MAX decks if the double damage effect is separate from the double piercing damage (not sure what the ruling is there).
I kind of want to use both Morganites in Magical Muskets. They can benefit a lot from both cards (especially since they're a Deck that doesn't really like drawing into the traditional handtraps unless Going Second)
The new morganite is funny because you could just use three of them on 1 turn due to the searching effect and no once per turn (would the double battle damage stack?)
Seems like any deck that already has a 5+ Fiend or Dragon could run a minimal engine of 2 Metalmorph, 2 Metal monster. You can just swap the monster for the trap, so there's no reason to go 3:1 and you might resolve 2 Metalmorphs. From there if you want it to be more consistent you can then add the ROTA spell. For decks that don't have a 5+ Fiend or Dragon they'd then need Metal Copycat so their minimal engine would probably be 3 of the ROTA, 1 Copycat, 1 Metalmorph, 1 Metal monster.
enhanced metalmorph is a normal trap too, so we can use metalzoa x in lab. I dont know why you would, but you can :) and yeah, bandit kieth uses time machine to revive metalzoa after joey kills it, then later joey uses graverobber to steal his time machine and bring back red eyes to metalize it, which is what the artwork is referencing
I really hope the perfomapal sky magician girl will actually bridge performapal and magician girl. Not because it would be good, but because it would be hilarious.
You can use Dream mirror as an easier to summon facilitator of the flare metal FTK right? Not imagining that, if you gave dream mirror to your opponent, that is how that interaction would play out?
Hmm, if it wasn't restricted to attacks/damage on monsters I might like that other Morganite a LITTLE better. Could be funny in OTK Helmet decks that can just ram into a full board after setting up, and you can wait until your setup is done if you still want to "lead" with hand traps or similar monster effect tools like Misc before using the thing in a ballsy all-or nothing maneuver.
Chat not knowing World Legacy lore basics has me sideways with disappointment. Yes, Albaz lore is better, but World Legacy story ran so that Albaz story could _Fusion_ _Summon_ _using_ _1_ _face-up_ _monster_ _your_ _opponent_ _controls._
whoever suggested union carrier would work with pilot is a donkey. it locks you fron summoning the equipped name for the rest of the turn so if you equip pilot you can't recycle driver. Also it's another garnet, I was really hoping Pilot was just a direct upgrade that isn't a garnet something like: [Standard union text] except you can also equip from hand. Return this card on the field to hand to equip a union from deck. it's functionally driver + a free body or use it as a discard if you don't need the body. If you hard draw it, it's an extender that lets you play through X Head eating an imperm.
Why is MBT so tunneled on the new Morganite being used alongside the other one? I think it could be good in some kind of OTK strategy. although. I'm not sure which one, since every OTK strat has some way to attack multiple times anyway.

I dont know why you would, but you can :)
and yeah, bandit kieth uses time machine to revive metalzoa after joey kills it, then later joey uses graverobber to steal his time machine and bring back red eyes to metalize it, which is what the artwork is referencing
Keith use the Time Machine for Revolver Dragon, not for Metalzoa
@@CyberTwinDragon9999 fair, I knew it was one of them.
If inherent special summon from deck ever sees widespread use outside of charmers, I will be so sad. It's like the weirdest part of my pet deck.
I really hope the perfomapal sky magician girl will actually bridge performapal and magician girl.
Not because it would be good, but because it would be hilarious.
Enhanced metalmorph is both as metalmorph does have a different art that is the normal creature thing
You can use Dream mirror as an easier to summon facilitator of the flare metal FTK right? Not imagining that, if you gave dream mirror to your opponent, that is how that interaction would play out?
the morganite card will go in mikanko right away
YET THERES STILL NO HEAVY METAL RAIDERS SUPPORT!!!
If Turu-Purupurun was quick HEROs could meme super hard with Ab Zero too so sad that it isn’t quick lmao
If Illusion archetype could get better cards Morganite would see a tone of play.
So correct me if im wrong, but dream absorber is just a recursive body that specials from grave but doesn't banish when it leaves the field?
Chat not knowing World Legacy lore basics has me sideways with disappointment.
Yes, Albaz lore is better, but World Legacy story ran so that Albaz story could _Fusion_ _Summon_ _using_ _1_ _face-up_ _monster_ _your_ _opponent_ _controls._
Obviously the new Morganite is going to be played in the new tier 1 toon OTK deck
You know Edward Elric is going to sue until he realizes who he's suing-
Joey: I got Konami on my side! And a lot of luck and metal!
if the type change was a quick it would work with despian lulu
whoever suggested union carrier would work with pilot is a donkey.
it locks you fron summoning the equipped name for the rest of the turn so if you equip pilot you can't recycle driver.
Also it's another garnet, I was really hoping Pilot was just a direct upgrade that isn't a garnet something like:
[Standard union text] except you can also equip from hand.
Return this card on the field to hand to equip a union from deck.
it's functionally driver + a free body or use it as a discard if you don't need the body. If you hard draw it, it's an extender that lets you play through X Head eating an imperm.
No king of heavy metal?
shame.
The new Morganite would be good with Vampires. Which is how i used the old one.
Where's the metal barrell dragon?!
Of course The Guy that has the most intimidating finger point in all of anime.....
👹👹👹👹
Okay, but when are we getting tier 1 harpie support?
Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning is a Level5+ Archfiend
So Red-Eyes can play Metalzoa X
Dream absorber+yajiro loop incoming?
I do fw this. Red eye black metal was a my favourite card 😂
Hm... how many of the beatdown decks care about monster effects in the hand?
Why is MBT so tunneled on the new Morganite being used alongside the other one? I think it could be good in some kind of OTK strategy. although. I'm not sure which one, since every OTK strat has some way to attack multiple times anyway.
