    On the topic of Mind Castlin - I don't think people really know how to evaluate a card like this. Synchros have been divorced from the concept of a utility toolbox for a long time in favor of being 15 combo pieces chilling out in the ED.
    While yes, Mind Castlin absolutely is a combo piece, It's also an absolutely incredible toolbox piece with a type of effect that has never ever been generic before. If I told you Konami was about to release 'A generic ED monster that optionally creature swaps your opponent up to 2 times', I think everybody's response would be that that card would be insane. But because the card's a synchro and not a link, the community has shrugged its shoulders at it.

    I think giving dinos a backup plan in the form of a board nuke is really good since most of their main end boards going 1st is really weak to board breakers like DRNM, Droplet, Raigeki. Opponent has to play around it while dealing with your board at the same time, and since the board nukes can be done any time, you can save it for later in the game, which would make it strong in simplified game states.

    • @qwertystop
      @qwertystop Месяц назад +2

      Doesn't have to be a backup - the Jurrac plan-A can now be triple Meteor. Just like most decks can't deal with three towers from Raidraptor, three board-wipes from Jurrac (the first one is one-sided, and all of them give you one tuner to at least start the followup) probably shuts down most things.

      Guaiba specifically gets really nasty with lost world - played jurrac evolzars back when the new dino stuff came out c. 2017. The idea was lost world - ns any dino (ideally ovi, but anything would do), summon token, crash into token, trigger lost world for baby, baby summons guaiba, guaiba either kills the token or whatever the opponent has on field, guaiba then summons from deck, either itself or another jurrac (velo, dino, etc), and you've gone +2 off of a normally +1 play, that can immediately be turned into Dolkka/Laggia. Plus the jurrac tuners gave easy access to black rose. In the formats right after MR4, when the game slowed down significantly, that stuff was nasty. Now, do I think that could work today? Not nearly as well, no. But the new stuff allows you extension past the normal summon, something Dinos have historically struggled with, and the lines that Megalo specifically has with oviraptor are actually kind of nasty.

  • @dp101
    @dp101 Месяц назад +8

    Went and looked at every Jurrac card in the game after seeing what he said about the archetype's current distance to playability... what? They have 1 entire maindeck monster that doesn't purely relate to the battle phase, and all it can do is summon the other ones, which are basically war rocks in terms of the focus of their effects. I get that if you count generic support the deck could look good, except again there's just not a single jurrac card where putting it into dinos doesn't just make dinos strictly worse! All that playing it would do for you currently is let you trade a level 1 tuner in for a generic level 4 or lower dino that might as well be a vanilla. I'm just.. what?? I feel like he's biased because of observing the deck in nonstandard formats, it looks crazy in sealed for example, but I have no idea how someone with baseline competent yugioh knowledge would make a claim like this with such confidence.
    Honestly I don't even think the new cards are bad or anything, that's an entirely separate point, it's the bit about the deck being close that baffles me. And I have no idea what he wanted from the fabled boss if non-hopt mass non-targeting negation that also steals is considered not good enough of a boss... I know he's definitely a better player than I am on many levels, I'd be less confused by his opinions here if I *was* a hater.

  • @thunderhogTH
    @thunderhogTH Месяц назад +9

    I've been trying to vouch for it, but all you have to run for stigo to be good is 2-3 Aeolo and the 3 new tuners. Have Stigo send Misc, summon 2 of each, Aeolo reborns stigo, makes the jurrac level 5, Second Aeolo reborns stigo, you have 1+4+5 for Level 10. If you draw an Aeolo you just pitch it for Megalo to draw 2. The problem is as MBT says, it requires you to not focus on Dino combo and all in on triple board nukes and a summon negate being enough.

      Guaiba was also super important in Dino Rabbit in 2012, even better than flamvell firedog and Shura because it triggers if it crashes into a 1700 monster. Rekindling is also an honorary jurrac card since it reborns 3 aeolo that tag into any other jurrac in grave.
      Velo is probably the best mystic tomato since it summons Guaiba and Aeolo.
      He might have been over exaggerating when they said that they were really close, but people saying that Jurrac have only ever had Aeolo shows how few people have played earlier formats since Dino Rabbit has an entire format named after it, and was one of the 3 best decks in Inzektor, Wind-up, Rabbit format.
      Are most of the cards bad by today's standards? Sure, they were printed 13/14 years ago. But they were by no means terrible cards when they were printed. Velo was not even consistently played in Dino Rabbit. There was also a brief stint where Jurrac Titano was a sideboard card against Burning Abyss in the mirror. I'm aware of the brief competitive history of a few cards in the archetype.
      Almost every single other card in the archetype was completely terrible and saw no play, even when they were printed. Dino, Monoloph, Protops, Stauriko, Spinos, Tyrannos, Velphito, Giganoto, Meteor, Gallim, Brachios. I could keep going if you want. There is, on the surface, a borderline playable deck with just Velo and Guaiba and maybe Aeolo/Dino, but it's entirely off the back of Guaiba being an OK version of Firedog.

    • @tmscribble5889
      @tmscribble5889 Месяц назад

      @@lamiaprincess6371 I think you're vastly underrating Guaiba as a card, it's a superior Firedog in most aspects except for it's attack stat which was mitigated by Lance and Shrink both being in the format by the time it saw relevance and was the only card you wanted to see in your hand in Dino Rabbit outside of Rescue Rabbit itself.
      It's superiority to Firedog or even Shura comes from the fact that it doesn't need to survive combat with a monster it kills (For example, Lance + Guaiba kills any 2500 body and gives you a Guaiba, otherwise it runs over both Dolkka and Laggia with Lance), it can crash into things and still summon another copy of itself leading to you having advantage not to mention it also gave access to the Rank 4 Dino XYZ engine which Firedog could only dream of, Guaiba become far more relevant than Firedog ever did.
      Even if Firedog is a Rekindling target, Aeolo is a Rekindling target which fetches Guaiba and to top it all off, it's searchable with Fossil Dig.
      Dino is a solid card hurt by the fact that it's 1700 and is otherwise a solid Tuner with a draw effect in a time where leaving your board open wasn't deadly
      Stauriko summoning 2 Tokens when destroyed by battle makes it an objectively worse Dandy, but that's still OK in a time where battle was still the main way of removing monsters.
      Herra is also another decent 1 of that works with cards like the aforementioned Stauriko or your set Aeolo giving you a 2300 body
      Velphito is an excellent, if situational level 5 Synchro that immediately kills flip monsters which while not particularly relevant by the time 2012/2013 came along, Ryko and Snowman Eater were still relevant in the format at the time.
      Giganoto has the ability to OTK and stacking multiple Giganoto together creates a critical mass of damage that makes all your Jurracs massive and removes the fact they're all slightly below the desired 1800/1900 body that you'd want them to be not an incredible level 7 synchro, but people were also playing Scrap Archfiend at that time because it was 2700 and there weren't many other good options, despite the fact it was a vanilla.
      The rest of them admittedly weren't very good, Meteor while being a better Black Rose, is resource intensive and is too difficult for the deck to make, Gallim is a weird level and your opponent being able to negate effect sucks and then the rest well... They only get much, much worse.
      That is still a farcry from Aeolo being the only good Jurrac ever and only being decent for it's level, let alone Jurrac not having a single good card in the archetype.
      Guaiba, Velo, Aeolo and maybe Dino are good maindeck options which is still 12/15 monsters and can absolutely be built around, Velphito is an infinitely superior choice to Magical Android and works well with Catastor and Giganoto is an above average level 7 in a time where there was only 1 good level 7 in Black Rose (And sometimes Ancient Fairy Dragon too, I suppose)
      It did far more than most Duel Terminal archetypes did purely for the fact that a single card saw any type of relevance in the meta at all, whether inside the deck or not
      Even if Guaiba was only there for being a Dino that summoned another Dino and it's a worse Rescue Rabbit, it was still the best option that existed at the time and was strong enough to help propel the deck to being best deck of 1 format, and part of the trio of best decks in the next format (Despite the fact that format is one of the worst formats in the history of the game, it was still a tier 1 deck)
      I would argue Aeolo has a worse track record than Guaiba does, even though it was used in True King Dinos, True King Dinos wasn't even the best deck of it's relevant format.
      Jurrac cards are all cards that were ALMOST excellent when they were printed. Stauriko is ALMOST insane like Dandy, Meteor is almost a better Black Rose, Herra is ALMOST a good battle trap like Gorz or Trag.
      Compared to a deck like Ice Barrier, Vylon, Genex, Steelswarm, Ally of Justice it's far superior. Granted it's nowhere near the best of the Duel Terminal; it can't even begin to be compared to something like Dragunity which as a complete deck was meta across multiple formats, Gem Knight which was one of the most consistent FTK strategies of all time, Sabres which were quite good after Edison format, Laval or Constellar which are both good choices in HAT format but to say the dinosaurs are all terrible is disingenuous in my opinion.

    The amount of misinfo on crystron his chat even incorrectly quoted Hardleg (For the record Hardleg said the support was insane for the deck but that Yubel and Snake eye azamina are both such ridiculous decks that it probably wouldn't matter anyway).
    The guy who said the deck bricks still clearly hasn't tested the deck as they aren't even out on Edopro and I'd bet 100 bucks they don't use anything other than EDOpro for testing. The pure version has over a dozen new 1 card starters thanks to the new support (Smiger himself, the spell, scrap recycler, any 1 card rank 3 not named beetrooper buggy) and then there's Runick Crystron which is a ridiculous variant of runick, for the first time since Naturia Runick we have a runick variant that puts serious board pressure on the opponent outside of the runick quick-plays.

I think the only one that does something substantial that isn't blocked by summoning limitations is...infernoid evil, which is once per turn so you can't dump 3 copies for 3 "void" spell/traps. The next best options are an ocg fusion and a shiranui card that...level mod a light/dark dragon or reduce an opponent's monster's atk by a whopping 500 respectively. Makes you wonder if they have something in store to absolutely break it or if it was just overbalanced.

      Hi, I’m the chatter that MBT read regarding it at 18:56. The cards are crazy good don’t get me wrong. The issue is that the card that enable these combos off of 1 card is Exactly Inclusion. Sulfudhole needs another Crystron Card on field and Sulfenir needs a Crystron in hand. And these are all VERY easy choke points for negates. They can pop off into a lot of cards but since their main deck tuners can only synchro into machines your only options into cards outside of that restriction are in the form of Quandax and Accel Synchron. Which are good, but the further you go into it the tighter the Extra deck. I personally run a Superheavy Samurai package for Easy Crimson Dragon access before you lock into machines for the turn. You could also elect to run handtraps or board breakers. Like I said in the chat. Easy to interrupt and prone to bricking.
