in the book, the scene goes like this:
Fogg and the faculty give Quentin a pack of cards and a stack of nickels and tell him to do some magic. he does some card tricks and nickel passes and they chuckle and are bored and say c'mon, do some ~real magic~. he doesn't know what they mean. Fogg gets up and starts actually moving Quentin's hands himself, forcing them into different positions, Quentin getting angrier and angrier until he jerks his hands back and yells at Fogg to stop.
during the preliminary examination before, one of the test questions asked Quentin to create a made-up language, and now Quentin starts speaking in it, a fluid incantation he makes up as he goes. he picks up the pack of cards and throws it into the air, and the cards fall into a house of cards that looks like a model of Brakebills. he then blows on the house of cards and it collapses into a perfect stack. he fans the cards out on the table blackjack style, and every card is a Queen - Queen of Horns, Queen of Clocks, Queen of Books, Queen of Bees, and so on. He restacks the cards and then rips the deck in half, then rips the halves in half, then throws the torn up pieces at the faculty. he grabs the stack of nickels and it becomes the handle of a sword, that he pulls out of the desk like the sword from the stone. he points the sword at Fogg's throat and says tell me where the hell i am. he stabs the sword into the desk.
Fogg says, i think we can all agree that was a Pass. everyone claps.
The most impressive magic Quentin ever did in 5 seasons.
He did turn into a fox 😭
funny - in the books (at least by the end of book one) quentin is a total badass. a total douchebag, but also a total badass.
Except for the time he created a singularity to win a Welters match…
That's how you set the tone for a Epic story arc.

@@alexanderartaza2173Yep you are right he transformers coins into a sword at first but it is like the sword of gryffindor and through out the books Q pulls it out of nowhere and one ofe them should be in The Magician King and probably out of lava floor I must have mistaken it with that
At first you wonder how this muggle born know nothing person who doesnt even really get yet that magic exists yet is able to suddenly do this magic with such control...But then understand that powerful magic is born from pain, which is why the principal actively tried to upset him

So in this world magic is fueled by negative emotions. Its ironic that everyone thinks magic will make their life better, but it doesnt which just fuels them and makes them better magicians. Those the cycle begins and continues, and in the books the only happy people are those thad gave up magic

If you want the show to last more season. Don't frigging kill off your main lead Quentin. I don't know what the show runners were smoking when they did this. The show was cancelled a season after with a cliffhanger.
