But what is professionalism, exactly? I would argue that just because Gus Johnson shows emotion does not make him unprofessional. I don't look at him or Kevin Harlan any differently than, say, Jim Nantz or Al Michaels. They're all great at what they do.

I’d rather mute it.
He shows a lot of passion for his work and adds to the entertainment factor. Other announcers might provide more insight or context. There is room for both.

Gus Johnson loves sports so much, you don’t have to give a crap about the teams and you’ll still end up cheering during his calls. His calls are what I miss most about no sports

I have always found his voice to be annoying... but even I have to admit - I’d rather have him calling the plays than some of these announcers that just make a slight spike in emotion when a big play happens vs. Gus who actually tells you wants happening not just with words but with tone and emotion.
I don’t dare leave the room with some of these monotone announcers... but when Gus is announcing, rest assured you know when to run out of the kitchen back into the living room to see the play!
This man’s voice fits perfectly with hype moments. Joe buck abstains from moments and tries to let us soak the moment in while Gus is part of the moment, enhancing the moment

This guy just clearly loves sports. Its awesome.
He's as passionate as any fan watching in or listening in to the games. We know him mostly for his coverage of college football and basketball, but he's also done NFL, NBA, college hockey, MLS soccer, boxing, mixed martial arts, and the MSG network's Yankees ScoreCard show. And he is never boring!
Sometimes it feels like Gus Johnson wills games into become epics.
