I just returned from two weeks alone in Paris. Although I have been there many times over the years, I am looking at things from a different perspective these days. In the back of my mind, I was wondering how many more times I could make this trip without being mobility challenged. Being in my 70s, I am lucky to have no problem getting around; but for the first time, I did find the Metro to be somewhat challenging. From time to time, you find yourself facing overwhelming numbers of steep stairs while being surrounded large crowds of people. The cars themselves can be wall to wall people, depending on the time of day. And, the system is simply not always friendly for those who are disabled. Yes, there are more escalators (randomly placed and some not working!) than in the past, but there are always stairs at some point. I think sticking with buses would be an excellent idea for us older folks. Just my two centimes!

James, I highly recommend one of those guided tours (or semi-guided) that do the hotel reservations, transportation, tipping and other things for you. You can always opt out of some activity and go your own way too. Come to think of it, I don't recall even seeing people in their 70s on the metro. So maybe it's just too much of a mobility challenge with steep steps, crowded trains and LOTS of walking to boot. I hope you can make it back there and enjoy yourself. Take a little day trip outside of Paris too.

Precisely. I was 54 when I went to UK a few years back and have had knee injury. I went around London using the ORIGINAL London Hop-On, Hop-Off Sightseeing Tours and my ticket was valid for 2 days so as not to rush. And before I arrive there, I brought my printed researched materials of maps of all bus routes and with respective Bus No. So I was able to go around (thanks to my several days' use Oyster card) not going down or climbing very steep stairs of train stations. At that time, refurbishments were being done to put elevators/escalators. And another option, I stay where transportation is near, in front of my hotel in Kensington area is a bus stop where routes go to most of the places I would see. I'll just choose an accommodation in Paris beside a train station so no further walking on street level, find out where are the elevator locations (if any, or if working), and last recourse use the bus. Hoping with gazillions of tourists going to Paris, may the Government install more escalators to train stations that have none, maintain these, ensure to refurbish the elevators (especially their train platforms are so deep under) for physically-constrained people to use.

I have seen a wheelchair user navigating an escalator. A stairway going up and down only moving. I don't feel comfortable using this with my son's wheelchair. I'm only comfortable using an elevator/lift , wheelchair lift or a ramp.

The Eiffel Tower and Disneyland Paris are on my bucket list. I grew up in los angeles and worked at the original Disneyland. I heard that Paris Disneyland is the best and I can't wait to visit. Thank you for the mobility information and being so kind, I will continue to watch your site. Our trip starts October 28. We like to travel in the off-season to avoid all the crowds. What great answers Antoine & Colleen! For the person asking about Moulin Rouge, we went this summer, it was the 3rd best meal in a 2 month France trip, including high end Michelin starred restaurants, so it was very worth the price. We did get the upgraded "Belle Époque" menu for 235€. The people who came in after dinner, about 20 or so, all got stuck up in the nose bleed section.

We started watching your videos to prepare for 2 weeks in Paris. We just got back. And your videos were very helpful. We went to Cul de Cuchon, got a sandwich combo and walked to Anne Frank park to have lunch. When our beverage ran out we noticed people getting water from a water spigot/fountain. French tap water is delicious and safe. Thank you Paris for this! Chez Savy lunch was perfect for us who’s first timers in Paris/France. The same restaurant personnel in your video were also there. And we ordered the same exact things you guys ordered in your video. We basically followed all your tips and hints while out and about which really added lots of enjoyment to our visit. And yes, Paris can be a challenge if you can’t walk it. But The Metro was so cheap, clean and efficient- thank you Paris. I can’t come up with any questions because you guys are very clear and very good at explaining things in your videos. And your children are beautiful. Thanks for all the good tips.

Mike, a very interesting RUclips thing to watch is the "Paris guided walking tour" series -- there's a new one every day I believe. They have minimal sound and no real narration, just a body cam on somebody walking around different neighborhoods. You can really, really get a good feel for the place with those videos. Also if you don't speak french, well, study it on-line, learn some phrases etc or take a beginner class. I got by with very little French and almost all the waiters/waitresses spoke English. They're very good about assisting you with English and many menus are in English too. I highly recommend a guided tour.

I just returned from Paris on Tuesday (Oct. 4, 2022), I did a solo tour, and I absolutely LOVED it! My Airbnb Super host showed me that I could get to all the main attractions by using Line 1 which was less than 8 minutes walk away from where I was staying. The first day trying to figure my way around on my own was scary, but by the end of the day I figured it out, and it was smooth sailing from there! I went to Montmartre, Le Marais, I made a one day stint to Lourdes, France, I went to Epernay for a Champagne tour, I went to the cemetery where Edit Piaf, Jim Morrison, and Oscar Wilde have been laid to rest. I went to Musee d'Orsay on a Tuesday, then The Louvre the next day, I went to so many places, and saw so many things 7 days were not enough for me to fully enjoy, so I plan to go back! 😍 I went to one of the French restaurants you guys recommended, Chez SAVY, and let me tell you the staff there were so warm, and amazing! Sebastien is a wonderful man, and I am grateful that helped us ( I made a friend in Paris) choose tasty dishes to try. I would not have done my trip if it weren't for you channel, because all your tips, and recommendations were extremely helpful! One thing that I will emphasize is to take COMFORTABLE SHOES! Regardless of how much you use the Metro, or the bus YOU WILL WALK A LOT! I made friends out in Paris on my own and for the most part met some wonderful people, so yes I intend to go back! 💓

If you have luggage and are older or have mobility issus..take a taxi. The government has a ceiling on what taxis can charge from the airport…think 35 to city from Orly and 55 from cdg. A train for two would cost approx 25 euros. Not easy to navigate unless you have carryon only. A lot of walking in the transport system depending on where you are going. If you go to the proper taxi stand no risk of being ripped off.

I have COPD and I was in Paris for two weeks in 2017 and we used the metro all the time. I did OK on the stairs, had SOME difficulty in the stops where there were stairs for days. Lets just say I was VERY grateful when I got to the top. LOL COPD is a progressive disease and mine is well managed but I think practically speaking IF I return I'll be using the buses. I got so good at using the metro I dread the leaning curve of learning the bus lines.
People need to not be afraid of the metro, after a few rides you will be old hands, it is SOOOO easy so I will hold that thought regarding the busses. .

We just arrived in Paris this morning at 5am. Flew form Atlanta and we are.going to Mont Saint-Michel on Monday and the car is a Yes yes!!! We would love to meet you in person. One importante thing about transportation in Paris. There are no trains from 2F if I am not mistaken. So it was a lot of going here and there and a lot of confusion. We had breakfast at Carton this morning and going to Le Procope for dinner. Thank you for all your tips. They were very helpful.

What a great video. I really enjoy all your videos. I’m so excited for my upcoming trip to Paris in December. I’ve been planning my entire lifetime to make this visit. I recently bought your guide. Between the guide and your videos, I feel ready to see the City of Lights! I really enjoyed this forum and learning more about you both. You’re both so warm and wonderful. I hope to run into you while I’m in Paris and thank you in person. Thanks again for this fabulous video!!

I absolutely love all your videos. I visited Paris every summer until the pandemic. I’m planning to come back in September 2023. I always come in July and have decided to switch to another time. I hope you will do videos on best times to visit . I barely missed a heatwave in 2019 by a week and after this year, I don’t want to take a chance . I was there in 2002 during a heatwave from hell. It was miserable. 🤣
Thank you for all of your wonderful videos.

I came across your videos when searching for things to do/places to eat in Paris. Our family(there's five of us total) has an upcoming trip first to visit my sister in law & nephews in Marseille and then we will be concluding our last 3 days in Paris at the end of June. My husband and I had been to Paris before for a day and a 1/2 in 2016. How I wish Id known of the many places to eat and see then! So thank you for sharing your experience as it's been essential in helping us as we plan this time around with our kids.
