    Woodturning is a hobby of mine that I thoroughly enjoy! I often design the piece that I am working on as I am shaping it on the lathe, making the final project design different from the last.

      @Neverforget133 Год назад

      The very centre of the wood 9s not moving so it's more difficult to remove I see a lot of people get rid of the centre first unless they using the tailstock to hold the piece I also start from the outside it works for me 😮

      Can you normally not turn the whole thing in one go? Like you have to do bottom half first then the top?

    • @jmacca6906
      @jmacca6906 Год назад

      @@darienhoffmann3989 If a bowl is 'green' (unseasoned) then you typically will get it to a rough bowl shape and then leave it to fully dry for however long (a few months typically, or it can be microwaved/ovened to go faster) before doing the final shaping and passing due to the amount of warping that can happen during that time and its tendency to crack due to this
      If it's already seasoned then you can just do it all in a day like this one

    • @commiedog425
      @commiedog425 3 месяца назад

      there could be well over 20 reasons thats happening. its best to google or post to a woodworking subreddit for advice that may actually work as its really hard to narrow down the reason without pictures and more details
      good luck with the desk!

    How does it stay on when turned around

    • @starhawke380
      @starhawke380 8 месяцев назад +1

      When turning the bottom of the bowl, you leave a short 'tenon' or disc on the bottom section so when you turn it around there is a different clamp for the lathe that holds the bowl by that tenon. You start with a plate screwed into the top face because that will be carved away removing the screw holes.

    • @booperthebest1501
      @booperthebest1501 9 месяцев назад

      nope! the reason he makes that little circular thing on the first side is to that his chuck on the lathe can hold the bowl without screws, allowing him to have a whole piece

      @user-ve6su3nu1e Год назад +2

      Старинный прием столяров- полировка материалом той же жесткости, что и само изделие. Полирует отлично- сбивает мелкий торчащий ворс, но не съедает основной материал. А вот абразивами типа наждачки не принято обрабатывать посуду, дескать песчинки абразива забиваются в дерево

      woodworking is a fine and difficult craft that is valuable and always has been valuable. It wasnt untill mass production and outsourcing labor became the norm was the pricing ever an issue. that piece of wood alone could cost well over 30 usd and that doesnt factor it needing up to years of care to even be usable. you cant just pick up any old piece of wood and use it to make a sellable product
