David F. Sandberg (“Annabelle: Creation”) directs New Line Cinema’s “Shazam!,” the origin story that stars Zachary Levi (TV’s “Chuck”) as the titular DC Super Hero, along with Asher Angel (TV’s “Andi Mack”) as Billy Batson, and Mark Strong (the “Kingsman” movies) in the role of Super-Villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana. Peter Safran (“Aquaman,” “The Conjuring” and “Annabelle” films) serves as the film’s producer.
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word-SHAZAM!-this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart-inside a ripped, godlike body-Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
“Shazam!” also stars Jack Dylan Grazer (“IT”) as Billy’s best friend and ultimate superhero enthusiast, Freddy, part of the foster family that includes Mary, played by Grace Fulton (“Annabelle: Creation”); Darla, played by Faithe Herman (TV’s “This is Us”); Eugene, played by Ian Chen (TV’s “Fresh Off the Boat”); and Pedro, played by Jovan Armand (TV’s “Hawaii Five-O”). Cooper Andrews (TV’s “The Walking Dead”) and Marta Milans (TV’s “Killer Women”) play foster parents Victor and Rosa Vasquez, with Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou (“Blood Diamond”) as the Wizard.
Firmly set in the DC universe but with his own distinctly fun, family-centric tone, the screenplay is by Henry Gayden, story by Gayden and Darren Lemke. Shazam was created by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck. Christopher Godsick, Jeffrey Chernov, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia serve as executive producers.
Sandberg’s creative team includes his “Annabelle: Creation” director of photography Maxime Alexandre, production designer Jennifer Spence, editor Michel Aller and costume designer Leah Butler.
A New Line Cinema production, “Shazam!” is set for release on April 5, 2019. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

I'm a hardcore MCU fan and I'm a girl, but I have to say... I'm endlessly more excited for Shazam than Captain Marvel, because Shazam actually looks like a great film in every promo. You can *feel* the spark and soul of it just from the trailers! That's really important, and it's a feeling I'd usually attribute to the best MCU films.
Oddly enough for the MCU, I get the absolute opposite vibe from every Captain Marvel promo, imho. Something about it just feels...void and hollow, with a touch of "try hard". This is to the extent that each trailer diminished my previously enormous excitement for the film! I think it could be stemming from the direction, as if they over thought everything (in the midst of all the "first female solo" hype) and failed to allow Carol to naturally translate to people? I truly hope that the trailers are just comprised of all the worst moments/lines of the film, because if the trailers are any actual indicator of the full film, it'd be pretty disheartening.
So, I'm sad at Marvel because of how CM currently looks, but I'm happy for DC because Shazam looks like another step forward. Hopefully both can be great, though... 🤞

Whatever your opinions about DCEU, there's no denying that their unexpected castings are great. Henry Cavill was not much known when casted, now he's beloved by fans as Superman. Ben Affleck got lots of hate when he got cast, became probably most comic book accurate Batman ever. Most people didn't believe Gal Gadot is a good choice, she brought great beauty, grace and charm to Wonder Woman. Aquaman was a joke for non comic book readers for years, Jason Momoa took over the role and turned him a badass. Nobody could think Zachary Levi as a superhero lead several years ago, now he looks fantastic as Shazam. I really hope WB will renew the contract with Cavill & Affleck and not recast them.
White Walker the casting all around are perfection (same with Marvel) it shows that they want the best even if the movies are not (JL, BvS, SS). And the problem with Henry is that he wants to renew with a bigger pay (deservingly so after how beloved he has become and a box office draw after Mission), but Warner are playing hard ball, that’s why instead of MoS 2, we’re getting a Supergirl movie. And with Ben, he has one picture left on his contract (every actor that’s part of the JL has a 3 picture deal, not counting cameos), but the problem is that he’s disappointed in how BvS and JL weren’t well received and Matt Reeves doesn’t want Ben in is Batman movie (he’s the only director that has a problem with a casting choice made by Zack), so Warner is in a cross road with him, because fans want to still see him as Batman and Warner want him too. Aquaman may has sabe Ben stay in the DCEU, because it showed that Warned wants to correct what happened in the past, but Shazam is the real test of the “new” DCEU that started with Wonder Woman.
Ben affleck is great, BUT.. The script ruin his batman. I hate his batman in justice league. Seriously batman make joke? Batman smile? Batman nervous and stutter when superman said did u miss me? Wtf. Fuck whedon.
I'm gonna have to disagree. While Gal Gadot is fine, I'm not so sure about Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck. Up until Justice League (if you ignore the part where he tries to murder the Justice League) he's always been more of a brooding Superman, which I'm not saying Superman never broods, but in the DCEU he just constantly has a serious demeanor about everything. Never got that uplifting, hopeful, and optimistic feeling out of him, which is why he never sold me on his character. Ben Affleck's Batman is definitely not Batman. In his very first movie appearance, he's already killing criminals. One of the biggest parts of Batman's character that is constantly being challenged in almost every portrayal, is automatically thrown out the window in the very first movie we see him in. He even attempts to kill Superman without even negotiating with him. That's definitely something Batman would never do, especially if he sees Superman trying to save lives. I know some people will bring up the point that this an old Batman who's just sick of this shit, but the comic that Zach based him off of (The Dark Knight Returns) shows the same worn out old Batman still maintain that no killing rule. And he could've at least shown the audience Batman's progression of getting tired of sparing the criminals, but we never see it, we have to either hear it from him or just make assumptions. Now I'll admit, the scene of him fighting the goons in the warehouse is the most Batman accurate portrayal of his fighting style (even though I'm sure he murdered most of them). But to me, the most accurate portrayal of Batman in live action is from the Dark Knight trilogy. As for Aquaman and Shazam, I'm not entirely sold on this Aquaman, but I do like him better than most incarnations. And personally I'm not a fan of Shazam's look at all, hopefully it'll grow on me though. Anyways, this is just my opinion, so I respect if yours or anyone else's is different
Michael White the way this Superman is, up until being fully back in JL, is not the Superman we know and love. Zack wanted a progression of his Superman, from a brooding hero (MoS and BvS) to the hopeful one (JL), and I think it got to it, because by the end of JL he IS Superman, hopeful and charismatic. And Henry did a killer job with what he was given script wise (and let’s not forget how he almost look like Christopher Reeves, wich is the ultimate and best portrayal of Superman), so I’m hopeful with the changes that are being made in the DCEU, if he is given a MoS sequel, he would become the perfect Superman all around, maybe even better than Christopher.
With Ben’s Batman, I think Zack wanted to separate the Dark Knight trilogy from this one. Not only he’s older but Jason or one of Robins die, and I tink Zack mixed plots from the comics for this Batman, so he could have the story Arc he wanted (wich we didn’t get because how Warner executives fucked up BvS and JL), so I give him a pass on how he directed Ben’s Batman in BvS (JL is Joss fault). And for me at least, Ben’s Batman is the best after Michael Keaton not only because how his fighting style and all round Batmaness was shown, but because his balance between Batman and Bruce was perfect for me (something Michael Keaton got but not Bale, wich is an awesome Batman but not the best Bruce Wayne). In the end, it comes to personal choices of what we like or not, but a case can be given from this round of actors as the best DC Heroes portrayal.
Aquaman, as a character, Jason killed and change a lot of people minds (not comic book fans) on how awesome Aquaman is. Same with Amber’s Mera. Movie wise, it has issues story wise, but for a first entry, it did the job, so I’m hopeful that the coming sequel/trilogy is gonna fix the mistakes they made (same with Wonder Woman, wich was far better than Aquaman, but ruined by that third act). Shazam at first got me “wtf?” So out of left field he was chosen to have a solo first instead of Flash, Cyborg and Green Lantern, but after the first trailer and this one, I’m on board 100%, so let’s hope it doesn’t disappoint on SS level, wich to this point are one of the best trailer in the DCEU.
Richmond Espinosa this is so right, but watch JL again and by the time they’re fighting Steppenwolf, he’s already Boy Scout Superman. An Injustice movie would be a wet dream, the same goes to a Flashpoint done right like the animated movie. But if they chose to go the Injustice route, that have to be kind of a “phase two or three” for them. Flashpoint have more chances because according to rumors, that’s the route they want for the Flash solo, but is up in the air if they’re gonna have all the JL for it, or go Flash tv show route of doing a version of Flashpoint that doesn’t include the JL

The Second son is Jason Todd AKA the 2nd Robin, Jason was captured by the Joker, and then the Joker tortured Jason just for fun, then the Joker told Jason that Batman never came to save him, but actually Batman was going to save him but it was too late, Jason died in a warehouse where the Joker tortured him. But Talia al Ghul (Ra's al Ghul's daughter) resurrected him and then he was trained by the league of assassin and Become Red Hood. The third son is Tim Drake...but uhh... I don't know about him, but rumours said he was just an orphan kid who want to be Hero or he was just an ex-Police officer who quit his job and Become The 3rd Robin. The Fourth son is Damian Wayne, Bruce's real son and the others was adopted. Bruce was Making out with Talia and accidentally make her pregnant. when Damian was born, Talia train him how to fight and become the 4th Robin. But Bruce still don't think that Damian was his son, but they still have a good or bad connection. And the girl from the dark knight returns I never heard about her, sorry... and that's all I know...
@Just A Gamer no Nightwing, the 3rd Robin and the 4th Robin was a good guys and Red Hood was a bad guy because he kill many thugs and Villain's goons. So Batman and Nightwing have to stop him. When they finally stop him Red Hood left them for 3 or 4 months. 3 or 4 months later Red Hood came back to them and rejoin with Batman and he promise never kill anyone.

On behalf of the DC community, I agree. I enjoy both but I'm not too hyped about captain marvel. The trailers felt dull and Brie Larson's character comes off as extremely robotic and dull (Vision had more emotion than her) even her powers look a little cringy. I will save further judgement until the movie is out. Welp here's to the success of our heroes in 2019!!!

Spideybops They’re not part of the OG MCU Avengers. Regardless, Strange and Scarlet Witch are great opponents for the JL as a whole. This scenario has been done as well. If Strange has the time stone they’ll have infinite do overs until the avengers win. If Strange doesn’t have the time stone, he gets speedblitzed by either Superman, Wonder Woman of The Flash.
Scarlet Witch’s powers are not passive meaning that they don’t activate on their own, so she still has to put active thought into her actions, The Flash runs faster than the speed of thought. The Hulk and Thor are always the characters that people say could defeat the JL, the problem being is that both The Hulk and Thor are much slower than Superman and Wonder Woman. Superman is also generally considered stronger than both Thor and Hulk, their only chance of taking him would be to fight Superman together. Even then Superman outclasses them in speed.
iRecipherus dude you know a lot about supes and flash but I think you forgot that Thor has got stormbreaker which can cut through anything that the jl has coz it penetrated a full gauntlet blast and if dr strange can go into the astral form there is nothing that supes and flash can do even if they are fast. I don’t think that scarlet witch would mind to explode supes into millions of pieces and vision can lower his density and solo kill supes coz supes won’t be able to hit him.

I'm a fan for both, with DC being my first preference, however what got me sick of Marvel was that they haven't been able to develop anything that looks different from GOTG back in 2014, basically everything of their since then has been a rehash of the Guardians, even Infinity War felt like a Guardians movie most of the time.
Only Black Panther was different and I guess that may also explain it's success, I won't even be spending any cent of mine on a Marvel movie this year, Unfortunately 😥😥😥.
