Am loving this grinder for filter coffee. Personally, I went for 5-6 for V60/Kalita 102 depending on the beans I am using. Really liked the grind consistency of manual grinding compared to machine grinders. Agree that it doesn't work well with espresso and get quite fast shots.
The ZP6 was much lauded by coffee heads and after some consternation, I got one. The hype behind the hand mill was worth it, IMO. I got mine from aliexpress and it came just fine. If it is a dupe of a real one then I can't tell a different in fit and finish, so it is fine. I also have a first generation Kinu grinder which is also very good, but the ZP6 was at least two notches above it when compared in my triangle tests. The clarity was on point, so much so that some coffee's 'juiciness' was sig more noticeable. I don't make espresso drinks, so these grinders are all suited for me. I am looking in the S3 now, but I may just stick with my guns. Not seeing the anything that the S3 outperforms the other two grinders and may at the very least match them. Thanks for the review as I found it very informative for the topics I wanted to learn more about.
@@thePowerPlant thank you for taking the time to comment! I agree with you, I also think the ZP6 is probably step up in quality to the S3 but it’s also a bit more expensive too. All depends what you want out of it, but I know the ZP6 is the “clarity king”, I think you’d find the S3 is more body focused, but it too provides some clarity, to an overall more balanced cup!
Enjoyed the video, nice review, Timemore is certainly doing interesting things and I've been very happy with their Sculptor 078 grinder. By the way, not sure if you're aware of it, but I think you kept bumping the table or exhaling towards the microphone, but it caused pretty significant bass pops throughout the video that had me confused for a moment. 😅
Thanks for taking the time to comment. The sculptor 078 looks incredible, the amount of configurability is getting crazy now in electric grinder, I’ve not long picked up the fellow ode gen 2 this will see me through for a while now. Yes I am aware the audio isn’t the best, my apologies for that. I’ve invested in a better mic for the next video and will try my best to avoid the pops and bangs in the future 👍 to get better sound quality.
Has been considering this as my first "real" handgrinder after an old ceramic burr one. This review was really helpful and I think you touched upon many relevant topics! Have you by any chance tried the 1zpresso X ultra? (its in the same price range)?
Thank you for your comment, I’m glad to help! Unfortunately I haven’t had a chance to test out 1zpresso x ultra, but it’s a grinder I’d love to cover on the channel at some point!
would you mind elaborating how does the actual brew quality differ when being compared to other hand grinder? i gues ZP6 would be the first anchor point as the best for filter, and K6 as they're closes in price point.
@@hatikagura1325 thanks for taking the time to drop a comment! Unfortunately I haven’t been hands on with either of these grinders, but I know they’re within the same category and were the two I was considering when upgrading, the main reason I went for the S3 was due to the price, if you’re willing to shop around (aliexpress) you can get it for cheaper then the K6 which is far cheaper then the ZP6. It all boils down to the brand you prefer, but there is a lot of love online for all of these grinders albeit not as much for the S3 mainly because it’s the newest. Hope that helps!
I would say the K6 or S3 are both very similar in design, function and price, if you’re looking to grind for espresso I’d go for the K6, if your budget is limited and you’re early on in your coffee journey the C3 ESP will also give great results also. Good luck 👍
That’s a tough call, I haven’t had any hands on experience with the K6 but overall I’ve heard lots of good things, really boils down to what you’re planning to brew. If you’re planning to do more then filter I’d go for the K6
The upcoming sale prices of the Timemore S3 and Kingrinder K4 on AliExpress are more or less the same, both around the £70 mark. Which of these two grinders would you go for? (exclusively grinding for espresso) Thanks.
@@tim36332 if you’re grinding for espresso I would definitely recommend K6 over the S3, the S3 just will not grind fine enough for espresso 👍 I saw that £70 price on the K6 on AE, by far the best price I’ve ever seen on the K6 probably the best time to pull the trigger.
hi i will answer for him, in the video he mentions the fact that the s3 can not grind fine enough for espresso, and in another review of the s3 they also could not grind espresso. So i think the only viable option for you is the k6 which is proven many times to make good espreso! good luck!
@Benny_Espresso Hi thanks for your reply. I'm no longer looking at buying a new grinder as I found someone selling the nut along with a 3D printed adjustment part on eBay for my existing Timemore C3 for just a few pounds. This works well and it has effectively converted my Timemore C3 to a stepless grinder 😀
@@tim36332 sounds great !! I actually didn’t see that he already answered you 😅 anyways god job finding something that worked for you and that saved you money !
You mentioned the weight. The TIMEMORE Chestnut S3 hand coffee grinder is made of steel and the other hand grinders are made of aluminum. Aluminum is not good. I prefer steel.

Hello. Which ones are better for grinding everything? K6, C3 Esp Pro or S3? Thanks
