I have the C3 and it does a great job. I did want a Comandante but decided to save the money towards other things (filters, scales, dripper and lots of coffee). I was really impressed by the quality of the C3 for the price and have even adjusted my brews to be 20g because of it. However I still have the want on a Comandante.
I don't have a C3 but I have a C2 and I upgraded to a Kingrinder K6 and it is an upgrade. The K6 has much nicer threads in the catch cup, is way easier to dial in an espresso with (the C2 requires dialing in by dose for me much of the time), it is easier overall to jump back and forth between brew methods and it is faster. But there are down sides. First, I like the texture of the C2 better as it is easier to grip. And it has a smaller diameter which also makes it easier to grip and hold on to. Plus, it simply isn't as hard to grind with even if it is slower. It takes less force, that is to say, to grind dense beans. On a more neutral note, I prefer the flavor I get from the C2 for medium and dark roasted coffees (in modern terms 50-60 on the scale). But the K6 does better with light roasts and especially on pour over. Again, for me. Honestly, if my C2 had half clicks and better threads in the catch cup I don't think I would have ever tried another hand grinder. I read about a 3d print pattern to mod the c2 to have half clicks. I might try that out of curiosity. That said, hand grinding for 6-8 shots a day is getting old. I think it's time to start looking into something electric. I could hand grind for pour over all day without an issue, but I really drink mostly espresso-based drinks (cortado and americano). Light roasts and my wrists just don't see eye to eye.
Thank you for sharing. I had C2 before, but couldn’t get anything decent for espresso ( see some of my first videos). For pour overs it was always spot on. C3 seems to address the espresso issue. I never had Kingrinder so can’t comment but Kinu is also something I would recommend. Otherwise, just get an electric grinder. DF64 V seems nice.
@@mycoffeeshow111 I got the C2 with a Flair Neo that I upgrade to a flair signature with the bottomless portafilter and gauge kit. I would guess that I can pull shots because it only has a 40mm portafilter. Though I have seen some chatter that people get the C2 to work with 51mm baskets too. Not that I would recommend it anyway. It takes like 2 minutes to grind for the flair as it is. Much of the reason why I upgraded. But, my theory on why I prefer the flavor of the espresso, is because the C2 seems to make way more fines than the K6. I seem to get a thicker body with a more traditional flavor. The K6 makes shots brighter. As for the K6 itself, I like it fine. I've seen more than a few compare it to the K-Max. But no more hand grinders for me. Two is enough. As for an electric I was honestly thinking a Niche. I just like the way it looks and how the workflow seems. I've not decided though and I know I don't "need" it. But I bought a Bambino Plus during the Breville sale and I have a feeling that my wife is going to be having me make more shots/lattes so a better workflow would be nice! @@kitcraft9516 I sold my Niche already and waiting for Niche Duo. As for Timemore, I decided to get 064s as I already have few different 64mm burrs already.
@@mycoffeeshow111 Yeah, I've been watching your grinder videos. I'll probably only end up with one grinder and call it good--Lol. More money to spend on coffee.

Thanks! I have a K-plus and something inside me (that is very stupid) wants to buy comandante. I think it's only because of the vibe and marketing, right?
I used my Timemore Grunderwerbsteuer Witz an AccuDriver with a 5,5 mm Nutdocket. It works very very good: 30 seconds for 14 g Beans by 8 clicks adjustment oder the grinder
I sold c40 long time ago but I don’t agree with that. They are so different, build and taste. K6 is more like K ultra so expect more fruity sourness than C40.
Hmmm, maybe I missed that detail. Well, C3 is faster thats for sure but I don’t remember exact numbers I am guessing 30sec vs 50sec on C40 (which I already sold btw).
2290 CZK vs 5490 CZK. I was thinking for my espresso Flair for Comandante C40 mk3/mk4. I went into J-Max instead for 4020 CZK, but ordered from different country, german amazon. And J-Max is is an overkill for my Classic basket of Flair espresso machine. What I have problem most is retention when grinding espresso, especially with dark roast. I wanted to season burrs, so I have bought a bag on 80% sale and prepared for a choir rehearsal coffee in flair. And I was suprised why each shot is much different ... so much left in mill. Resulted with weighting on the end too, or you will lose more than 2g on 13g shot. J-max is a pain to grind specialty coffee, due to agresive breaking depths on burrs. I always wanted Comandante, but at that time during december it was like 7000 CZK, vs 5900 CZK on czech shops. Now I do think, that both J-Max or Comandante, or even K-max would be overkill. For Flair Classic basket, as it has flaws in machining. Pro2 basket would be more precise, or Flair 58 would be a must. Why did not I paid a bit more for K-max and it would be for a filter coffee too … Why did I not bought that new C3! And it was on sale for 1900 too... on one shop. And both C3 and Comandante would be grinding much slowly, but more easily. I was thinking about electrical machine first, where the cheapest for espresso is hEureka Manuale for 7300 CZK. But than I realised my future child could not sleep when I would be preparing coffee. So I went into hand grinders category of espresso. And there I was infulenced by shops, as they do not list Timemore G1 4000 CZK, Timemore ESP 3500 CZK - it has ESP like espresso even in name, but in filter category in listings. Who would know that for Flair Classic basket I do not need this fancy stuff. And will I upgrade any time? And why tf are all grinders like 2000 CZK cheaper now? Baratza Encore & 1zpresso J-max owner. (Encore ESP not yet buyable here)
Thank you for sharing your experience. If you look carefully, you may find C3 for much less. Comandante price stays the same but sometimes you can find some colours for less. I never had any issues with retention on J Max but never tried to grind dark roast on it. With light roast, it is definitely fast but it can be tiresome to grind. Personally, I only use hand grinders when I travel and usually take K Ultra with me.
On the surface you are absolutely right. Having said that, we coffee geeks are chasing those incremental gains and that could be what makes great coffee exceptional.
After I bought original c3 version their was a lot versions of c3 released in market guess I need to wait more longer at that time very sadly for me although it is still the best
Fun editing lately Jack. I don’t have either of these but used my in-laws C-40 and got great cups. Waaaay better than my old $60 hario Skerton. So C4 is the bargain winner.
Thx for watching. I try to spice up the videos to reach my 10k subscribers goal by the end of the year. There are many great and cheaper options out there, Normcore V2 for example but for below £60 Timemore is awesome.
@ My Coffee Show Interesting results! I've been considering buying a Neo Flair Flex, but I know I will need an affordable and quality hand grinder for it. I've liked what I have seen out of the Commandente for some time, maybe that's the move to make for purchasing my first espresso machine. I don't know. We'll see! Nice video! :)
Get a 1ZPresso instead if you want espresso hand grinders as c40 would take a bit of time and an additional red clix upgrade is needed for extra steps.
C40 is very good but well too slow for espresso. Kinu is something I would recommend. Or wait for C60 but it won’t be cheap. Btw I was considering getting Neo Flex myself- seems like a great value for money.

How does commadante compare with a high end grinder for pour over? (Light roast specifically)
Not sure as I don’t have any high end pour over grinders. It is definitely better than electric grinders twice its price.
