I saw him in Dallas at Poor David’s Pub when he was part of John Lee Hookers band. Roy opened the show with a blistering slide solo. Mind blowing.
One of the finest slide guitar players I’ve ever heard 👍
RR is the best slide guitar player I have ever seen or heard. I will always treasure the opportunity I had to watch him play live once in a Blues Festival in Rio de Janeiro.
Have seen your performances dozens of times and marvel at your translations and attack! Amazing events, at the Boogaloo in Hermosa and various venues in California! THANKS RR!
You are the first guitarist that I have listened to that used the 0-16NY Martin, on stage. I got mine in 1959 and still have it. I added a L.R.Baggs pickup a few years ago. Point is: Always wanted to play Blues on her, and you are the one. Thanks. 12/30/20015
Just found Roy - incredible guitarist and enjoyed this very much.
First part is fantastic! Fluent and artistic.Loved it.
This was way more fascinating then expected
An unknown legend at the guitar! He just might be my new favorite guitarist
I love Roy, true virtuoso. Shame he doesn’t come to the UK, I will probably never see him live 😭😭😭
What a player, What a nice guy...
Damn brother Love everything about you we need more Dobro guitar playing I love the Dobre since I was 9 or 10 years old not too many play them as good as you do keep up the good work
I've learnt a great deal from watching Roy Rogers videos, thanks Roy :-)
Don't know much about Roy but totally identify with his perspective. Great stuff. Thank you man . . .
A twelve string dobroe is on my bucket list now. Even if I have to build it myself.
Very good! Awesome player with great feeling and sound.
Really great playing, and insightful comments here.
I first seen Roy in Missoula Mt. warming up Stevie Ray Vaughn at the Henry Adams Field House and man that first ten notes just floored us especially five feet away from the front of the stage.........We loved him ever since and every time he comes back to the Flathead Valley we go see him.....Killer stuff!
My favorite slide guitarist!
Great vid. Hadn't heard of Roy Rogers before, unfortunately. Was curious about his 12 string resonator... Nice low key description he gives of his equipment. Very cool.
hi roy just so you now i listen to your playing so thank you
Wow. just wow... this is amazing...
that's great love your sound.
Thank you
Loved it!
man roy rogers kicks ass at slide, i want a dobro now
Go Roy go
That was fun, thanks!
nice. always a pleasure
Great video video. Do know what make/model slide he is using? I use glass as well but feel the one I have is a little chunky - I don't mind the weight but it's a little long for my pinky.
what a master
I love your sound and style and in particular I love the Dobro 12.
What tuning do you use with the Dobro?
Thanks for posting your clip.
Ken
I was digging this
I bet Leo Kottke would dig that 12-string Dobro!
that 12 string was made for singing to the people on the other side of the street, outrageous stuff
Awesome!
Very good!!!!
Tuning ?
