Beaufort London: Terror & Magnificence Review | Not So Scary

- I got a sample of the newly released fragrance from beaufort London, Terror & Magnificence, which is an awesome name for a frag, but it sounds much more domineering than the scent actually is...

Being Beaufort my favorite house and Vi Et armis /Rake and Ruin/Coeur de Noir my all time favorite perfumes, i agree with you in both perfomance, and not having enough karisma for a Beaufort. The crowd pleaser- waterdown issue really had me disappointed, not so much for this particular case but more concerned for the future outcomes from the house. This been said, and in regards to the fragrance itself... when you blind buy, you force youself to understand the scent deeper, Rake and Ruin for example ,appart for the homemade gin vibe from the juniper , it smells like a stuffed animal, there is a herbal thing to it, but also something decadent about it ...like a rotten animal after months. In the same manner Terror, when been tested maybe tricks you into think ...there is many things out there that smell more or less the same...wrong ! Labdanum, papyrus, honey, raisins and dates, incense, myrrh ...vetiveeeer , back of a museum ...down to the cellar and face the wall.
Just from the notes, it reminds me of Black from CdG. Surprised that the performance was lacking. But I really liked that museum room description. When I was younger, I had a summer job in a shipping warehouse and we actually had one of those forgotten rooms. Almost had this acrid plastic touch to it apart from the must and wood.

I've got Terror and Magnificence, Iron Duke and Vi et Armis and think they're all great in different ways. They don't all have to be beast mode and the same to be good. I like Beaufort. Not because they are challenging but because they are interesting and tell a story. It's like people that are into a band, but go off then because they release a single that isn't as ground breaking as they once were. Do you like the music, or do you like that it makes you seem edgy. I like Beauforts music. Not everything they release, but I like the premise.
I need to get back into the line, vi et armis is a beautiful beast but I've not tried anything else from them.
