Man. I wish I could smell anything in this except the birch tar. On my skin it's pure birch tar. My wife said it smelled like I was burning wood. After 4 hours I faintly smelled vanilla and ink and books but my nostrils were burned out by that point.
Fascinating cuz I find the Iron duke to be very challenging and this to be much easier to digest... I, personally really love this one. The way you described this leather i was both a little scared and incredible intrigued. But I really don't think it's that animalic. I also just love the smell of leather.
I find with this one the colder the weather is the better it works. I wore it a few months back when it was below zero walking through town and it projects this big clear version of it where there's a bit more separation kind of like this big old wooden drinks cabinet smell around you with the vanillic and vegetal smells reminding me something that's had a liqueur or spirit spilled on it and the darker ink and old paper deeper beneath . The middle bit wasn't so bad compared to when I was sat at home trying it in the warm where it did get a little funky as you've described with the sweaty leather middle.
Hi man! You like Beaufort, don't you?;) I find them very challenging and gothic but since they are so unusual I really appreciate this line. To me most wearable is tha one that won Art&Olfaction Awards-Fanthom V it is green watery and freshly floral. Smells like a flowershop
Great review. Just got a sample and tried it out. Very nice and actually easy to wear. Got lots of vanilla from the start to the end. Perhaps I am not that trained yet, nevertheless the scent is great. Very similar to Vi Et Armis, just smoother? Something like this :) Perhaps at my top-3 from the house.
Musty paper, rank animals and stale sweat. Reminds me of the high school gym after the basketball game is over... I love hearing about these "difficult" fragrances, but I don't think I'm chic enough to pull this off. I'd love to smell the dry down - on someone else. Fascinating! :)
Coeur De Noir is my favourite to dat even though I have only sampled it but I have a FB. I found it takes you on a twisty journey. Hated the first 10 mins though.
Only ones off my head would be Beaufort Couer de Noir, Creed Silver Mountain Water and Comme Des Garcons 2. I don't think the ink is prominent at all in silver mountain water though. Couer de Noir is quite inky, but it has a lot more going on too, quite dusty, old leather and soft vanilla, a bit strange. CDG2 is great, but again there is a lot more going on with the ink. I reckon there must be a lot more but maybe someone else can chime in, I'd like to know too!
Wow great suggestions and coincidentally I have been wanting to try both of them (unbeknownst of inky notes). Keep going, I love the way you describe these indescribable scents.

I liked Iron Duke as well. “Thunderstench”🤣🤣🤣I love it! This one was my favorite of the ones I’ve tried from the house, I really enjoyed the ink note.
Lovely isn't it? I was quite pleasantly surprised how prominent the ink was! Definitely up there with my favourite from them too 😊
perfect review of a special and great scent :-)

I do really like them! I love their creativity, can't wear them every day but always love it when I get the chance :)

lol when you put it like that I wonder why I like it, because you're not wrong, that's the long and short of it 😂

I must try this! Thanks and do you know other inky scents?
