- After the disappointing Squid review, here's a more uplifting review for easily the most wearable and crowd pleasing Beaufort's, Lignum Vitae. Definitely one of the most bizarre openings I've ever smelt and a truly enjoyable fragrance to wear!
I got 8 samples as i’m beginning my fragrance journey and immediately identified lignum vitae based on this video…it’s immediately dried baked sweet thing which is washed away in a light puff of wood smoke…it settles into something salty which i can’t place but reminds me of someone i dated in the distant past…i really like it but i have more samples coming so holding off on a full bottle

I own a full bottle of rake and ruin and ordered a some samples and this was one of them. I never connected it to take at first, but watching this it’s unmistakable cake. It reminds me of the smell of the plate after eating lemon drizzle cake with a sort of metallic saltiness

Now we're talking sense!!! Glad to hear it's not too crummy. 🤦♂️ But I know exactly what you mean by that cake smell Ben. I've failed enough times making them to have it burned into my memory. Very well reviewed.

Always love your portrayals, thanks for the great work! Is that cake photorealism in the same ballpark as the flour in Bois Farine from l'Artisan Pafumeur?
Thanks a lot! Bois Farine is a bit more powdery and smooth I think but there are some similarities in the way they both have a dryness that hits the back of your nose, yeah! Bois Farine definitely smells more raw I feel, whereas here the cake vibe definitely smells "baked". I dunno if that sounds a bit mental, but it's really very photorealistic of a baked lemon drizzle cake or something along those lines.
After vi et armis , I need to get back into the line and this sounds just like a bit of me.

Ahh that's the name of the last Beaufort for me to try! I think it sounds great, so I have pretty high expectations, what do you make of it? This one is a corker, probably if I was to be hyper critical it's quite basic compared to a lot of Beaufort and other Niche stuff, but it's uniqueness makes up for that imo!
@@TalkingScents it's one I still barely understand and I've worn it alot.
The best I can come up with is it reminds me of pirate sitting on a ship drinking a citrus tea while high on a deep not sweet resinous opium.
Then boom , the ship gets attacked and that beaufort smoke envelopes the whole thing.

I dont get that metallic smell. I get a lot of ginger and pepper. To me is a salty lemon cake with ginger and pepper…Very unique indeed. FBW in my opinion…
