Hey Joe! Brilliant view! My Nan has been telling me for the past 20 years that Madeira is the best place she’s been to and now I understand why…such a beautiful spot🌷🪻🌼🌸 another place for my bucket list😅
Joe what are your favourite Portugese dishes if you had to pick a 4 course menu, so appetizers, first course, main course and dessert? I’m discovering Portugese food slowly, I absolutely love Pasteis De Nata, often make it myself at home, also I made a lovely lamb stew with potatoes and red wine/tomato sauce (forgot the name it was delicious!!) but I would love to get to know more…
that is a difficult question. but I will go with: Appetiser: Sopa de tomate Madeira or alheira and eggs First: Carne de porco à Alentejana or fillet of espada Main: Polvo à Lagareiro or Espetada with milho frito and salad Dessert: Malasadas There you go, you have two menu options haha
That was indeed sugar cane..... you will find it growing around the island and used to be very popular with many fields growing it. Bananas became more profitable and sadly most these fields have now given away to it. You simply peel the hard skin and chew on it just to extract the sweet juice. Glad you're enjoying it there :)
@@hungrytoexplore They do but not on the street and you probably already drank embedded in some poncha lol.... they use it mainly for cachaca (cachassa) :)
@@hungrytoexplore Wouldn't be me.... had my fair share of the farmer chasing me when we used to go "hunting" for it lol .... a bit of moonshine on the other hand....
I made the mistake of trying to do the palace gardens and the tropical gardens in the same day. Each are so amazing they really need a day each. Can't wait to get back to Funchal and give Monte Palace more time than I did last time, before running out of steam.

Looks like a wonderful place! My bf has been clamoring for years to go to Madeira. BTW, as a quasi native, do you say 'Ma-die-ra' or 'Ma-day-ra'?😁
haha most British would say Ma-Dear-Ra but it should be Ma-Day-Ra
Nice! You shoud try Sarajevo cable car, it's a different vibe.

mmm I should try that! I am surprised they do not sell sugar cane juice here on the street like in Asia.

that is true! I am sure someone could make a business from a street cart selling it though hha @@jsouto77
