Sadly for Gawain the only game of his I remember is playing Magnus in a dragon sicilian where Magnus blunders a piece and still ends up winning. Hopefully this video will change that!
My first inclination at 7:40 was Bxe5 -- it doesn't activate white's black bishop or rook for free, and accomplishes a similar thing to what Loek was trying. Why doesn't it work?
Odd question, if no one in ur country or a small amount of people in ur country plays chess and ur the best in ur country, Does that make u a Grandmaster or a Master from ur country? I mean ... Ya! I can't beat many others but I beat people here and I can teach a few things... so, Me Massa or Nassa?
I can't see the logic tbh being Master or GM is not related to your area, if you are the best player of your country it's the only title you can have (after a tournament ofc, not after some self proclaming claims) Edit: i checked on Fide website, there are actually some countries without titled players South Sudan, Saint Lucia, Solomon Island, Djibouti, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Antigua and Barbuda So if you are from one of those, yeah, you can be the best player in your country without being titled, but that doesn't make you a titled player
at 34:00 you say that Bh3 sacrificing the f4-bishop was too "creative" or difficult for you... I don't see why. Jones is younger so probably is the better calculator. Bh3 is just the move that stands out. it's what you want to play. develop, attack the king etc. retreating the f4 bishop like a french man is not what you want to play as a mad man who wants to be featured in one of your videos.
Bf4 was the move I didn't understand. I thought Bh3 was automatic hitting e6 a fabulous square. Bf4 however looks like a cheap 1 move threat against the black queen easily countered with e5. so with Bh3 in mind Bf4 was the "creative" (or "interessssting") move.
Someone needs to sponsor an episode on Ben finegold. An underrated grandmaster from the past, I don't think many people have heard of him.
I rarely care about the subjects of Ben's lectures, but I do care about Ben's lectures. Go Ben!

This is a comment to help the channel. Go engagement!
Gawain Jones's Chessable KID course is fantastic. Strongly recommend.
He's also an amazing defender; won the British Championship twice; certainly a great player of the present!
Gawain is a great guy
Fantastic lecture! I hadn't heard of Gawain Jones before today. Kudos yo Ben for selecting such interesting, instructive games 🤗
thank you
A bit of a crime that Gawain's crush of Gukesh wasn't included in this lecture 😞
Have the jets published a chessable course on desperado tactics?
Ben respects British players the most!
I think its funny i just saw this game in his book few days ago and suddenly there is a video on him
Golly... that last game was really nice

I liked, subscribed and left this comment. What do I do next?
Its easy to play exciting chess, but then sometimes your'e like, oh lost all my pieces. Finegold, the truth hurts.
There is a typo in the first game, it says 2017 instead of 2007
i thought it was odd he was talking about that was the time Gawain became a GM and it was only 8 years ago!
the truth hurts

Bxe5 fxe5 rxb7 qf3 is quite annoying as you lose your rook
@@jorik0907 thank you!
I never use an engine. My dog tells me what to play

Wondering how Ben feels about Trump's LANDSLIDE VICTORY.
I'd listen to an hour of such a political video.
Four years of fun to come for Latinos!! They are about to experience first hand the price of being gullible uninformed morons! 😂
It turns out that "They are eating the cats, they're eating the dogs, they're eating the pets!" was a winning campaign slogan-who knew? 🤣
this isn't political anymore but just madness. maybe it's political if Russia managed to manipulate elections again? Elon Musk sure did.

Fortunately we avoided that by firing the Democratic Party. Back to sanity.
