  • Luke the lion was roaring at the Washington DC Zoo. Usually when I come to see the lions they are just laying around sleeping.

      @Fardin Ahsan It's very cruel. I've been there and the enclosure isn't very large for the amount of lions. Also, they close any area that allows them to get away from the people. How would you like to have your privacy taken away just to become a sideshow to a bunch of noisy people??

    • @armoredgaming2352
      @armoredgaming2352 5 лет назад +6

      Mellissa Eddinger it’s for conservation efforts. There are only 20,000 wild lions left out there. We can’t risk these majestic beasts, along with tigers, to go extinct.

      @ Zoos are protected by the government tho. I'm not saying all zoos are good, plenty of them are in need of vast improvement, but its unfair to case them all together because of some rotten apples. I personally want my nieces and nephews to be able to see these animals alive and well in the future and if that means that some of them have to be bred in captivity, its a low price to pay. The descendants of these lions will eventually repopulate the wild and then it will all have been worth it.

    •  4 года назад

      @@geministrial950 low price to pay when you are not the one who's paying it. Overall I'm against locking up animals, that's all. I'm not gonna lock animals up, take away their life's, just so I can go see them a few times in zoos.

    • @ThePanther97
      @ThePanther97 9 лет назад +4

      Or they might be Ethiopian lions, they have both exceptionally dark manes and belly folds. Oh and typically Indian lions have shorter manes on their heads than most African subspecies. Do you know that there are some African lion subspecies that share genetic similarities with Asian lions, for example west African lions, central African lions and north African lions.

      When Indian lions live in India they have short manes but when they export to European countries they have very big manes bcoz of weather.In 1990’s many cubs were export to European countries like Germany,france,england etc

      This comment was from 5 years ago, I know better now. This lion is likely from somewhere in East Africa or Southern Africa, because lions in those regions are very common and most captive lions are from those regions. This is definitely not an Asiatic lion, but it's most definitely an African lion from either East or Southern Africa. So I've learnt quite a lot about lions in the past 5 years, and to be honest I completely forgot I even made that comment.
