If they only provide around 200mAh at 9v I think I might try the NIMH 9v batteries, I still prefer the slightly improved safety of the old chemistries over lithium.

I agree, NiMh is still a great choice for any critical application where safety is paramount. But Lithium based are energy density winners, I think over time stringent industry standards and established leadership will emerge. For now it's a little unsettled - with new names making wild claims. 400-450mAh at 9V is there today with rechargeable Lithium.
