Our internet provided required an upgrade last year after there were a series of internet outages... anyway,, just wondered if it was some new surveillance device, but it didn't look like it was??

That was great! My husband found an ad for something similar with a certain billionaire’s name added to it and wanted to buy it. Did a few minutes of research to find it’s a scam, and led us here for a laugh. Thank you.
That's what I call a comprehensive review based upon the finest scientific and engineering practices known to mankind, though, as Matthias would probably admit, neglecting the sledgehammer test was probably ill-advised. Nonetheless, the experiment proves the device can, with a little user innovation, actually save power. Excellent in all respects!
I finally learned that when I see a great ad and I want to buy one immediately go try to figure out what’s wrong with it. Thank you for doing your due diligence. Maybe I’ll turn some electricity off and save some money.
At last...the first honest appraisal of these devices that I have seen - or, perhaps I am just jealous that I didn't think of it first... Actually, what a rip-off, it's that simple. And the amazing thing is that Amazon is full of this stuff, and some of it is really dangerous too... Jeff must sort out his act/platform... he bears some responsibility for ensuring that people aren't being injured either physically or economically through his shop...
I was guessing they had a huge capacitor for power factor improvement. But you showed me that they don't even have nothing, other than a couple LEDs. Good educational video.
Some of those devices do contain a large capacitor (instead of a fake one). I modified one to be in series with a LED bulb, limiting its power usage from 13 to 5 Watts or so (all suggested by BigClive). Drawback: light output fluctuates quite a lot with line voltage. When the water kettle is switched on, it gets a little bit darker...
So it's saving power AND an indicator of too much power draw in other devices. To the original makers of the device, that's like a bonus feature! Don't tell them or they're going to demand you pay them extra for more features!
I know why they do these adds but my question is why are they allowed. It isn’t rocket science for even a modest intelligence to spot them as scams and should be taken down. If a shopping mall only hired guards to protect only the store infrastructure yet allowed customers to be mugged and attacked then the would soon lose trade.
The unfortunate part is that many people buy these items and believe they work. There was a much earlier version that actually made an attempt to correct the power factor, but it would only work on appliances with motors.
What puts a BURR UNDER MY SADDLE, is the extent of this total SCAM coming out of Communist China, UNRESTRAINED in any way, and showing up in the most innocuous places on the internet - with a lot of scam “spokespeople” pushing it as well… The Lying, POS, manufacturers of this SCAM gadget have spent A LOT on internet advertising. They actually BUILT a real-looking gizmo, somewhere in mainland China, possibly Taiwan, they’re paying for production, shipping, advertising-- The Government in which these ____les produce these items HAS to know about them and this 100% Bogus item. NOT that rip-off artists & Snake-Oil salesmen haven’t been around since Cain & Able…. But…. That speaks VOLUMES about the GOVERNMENT, that allows these rip-off manufacturers. Also VOLUMES as to the morals, or lack of, of these Communist Capitalists.
"It lights up, it must be saving energy!" According to Clive, that probably means some part of it is live now, since they actually bothered to attach something to the plug 😅 Oh nice that's a premium snake oil box, where they at least make sure the oil isn't actively on fire when they sell it to you XD Technically correct, the best kind of correct
I did this in school back in the day together with a friend of mine, ran around the school and broke fuses... I wasn't a trouble maker in general though. We also fried sausages by sending electricity through them...very dangerous!

Best video description of a Chinese product ever. Well done sir! 👏🏽
Happy April Fool's day Matthias!
This has nothing to do with April fools
Bravo they need more inside traders like you, that educate us and save our money😂
Awesome humor at the end shorting out the breakers ... I laughed for real!
Loved your video!! Liked the dissection of the "energy saver" box as well as the humorous end.
Thanks for taking the time to show what is in the device and why it doesn't work. The ending is Very funny.
OMG, Pixie dust! LOL. Great review, I wonder if the others that are sold have similar scammy solutions inside.
I enjoy your sense of humor! I have a huge snile on ny face!! 🤣 I wish I had your knowledge!
I love Matthias's April fools content!
That's why I use gas to boil water
I know why they do these adds but my question is why are they allowed. It isn’t rocket science for even a modest intelligence to spot them as scams and should be taken down.
If a shopping mall only hired guards to protect only the store infrastructure yet allowed customers to be mugged and attacked then the would soon lose trade.
ElectroBoom also has a tear down of one with a few tests as well. ruclips.net/video/J86QK0Njfv4/видео.html
So you are suggesting these POS rip offs actually work??
Great Review Matthias ! I really like the way you modded the device for the ultimate in power saving.
The unfortunate part is that many people buy these items and believe they work. There was a much earlier version that actually made an attempt to correct the power factor, but it would only work on appliances with motors.
What puts a BURR UNDER MY SADDLE, is the extent of this total SCAM coming out of Communist China, UNRESTRAINED in any way, and showing up in the most innocuous places on the internet - with a lot of scam “spokespeople” pushing it as well…
The Lying, POS, manufacturers of this SCAM gadget have spent A LOT on internet advertising.
😂😂Thanks! I needed a good laugh....my boss actually bought 4 of these AFTER I told him it was a scam. Some people just won't listen.
"It lights up, it must be saving energy!" According to Clive, that probably means some part of it is live now, since they actually bothered to attach something to the plug 😅
Oh nice that's a premium snake oil box, where they at least make sure the oil isn't actively on fire when they sell it to you XD
Technically correct, the best kind of correct
If you watch the video, you'll see that it's clearly snake _powder,_ not oil.
I love the way you were able to modify it to save money! I am going to try that! Thank you so much!
Honestly the Magic Pixie dust is scaring me. Is it toxic? should you be breathing that or even touch it?
It's probably just asbestos
I agree it could be absolutely anything crushed up into a powder. Bad medicine? Asbestos? Who knows.
@@markm0000 Even scarier, it's Chinese baby formula
Love it. You really are saving power. And here I thought these things were completely useless.
I did this in school back in the day together with a friend of mine, ran around the school and broke fuses... I wasn't a trouble maker in general though. We also fried sausages by sending electricity through them...very dangerous!
You would be surprise to see that... sausage cooker that work by running current into the sausage exists !
Ha!
I was just about to order this. I'm glad I checked your review. You just saved me 💰 by not buying this scam. Thank$
The white 'pixie dust' is actually a new lab-made compound called -chinesium- It's widely known for its energy saving capabilities.
Powdered melamine
Chinesium...love it
🤣😂😁😆😂😅
I think it’s proper chemical name is
communistchineseium. Which gives it its full power.
You really got me. Your videos have always been very informative and creative but this was the first time I saw you as a comic. Good job and thanks for all your hard work.
I'm surprised that the wires inside the device didn't act as a fuse
Circuit brakers are designed to act faster than fuses (even "involuntary DIY fuses"), in order to prevent anything from burning.
Brilliant! You made it save up to 100 % energy 👍
Your logic is brighter than the lightbulb. I loved your video. I honestly and truthfully enjoy watching every single bit of what you said . It all so true!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world. It was very very helpful 👍.
PS. Funny funny funny love your method for saving electricity hilarious😂
That was your best April 1 video in a LOOOONG time! Fantastic!!
Ya... I thought so.. I seen that called BS and RUclips it found you and now thanks thanks to you and your new setup Im saving about 90% of my electric bill...
Brilliant! 👏I went out and bought one for every room in my apartment and made the recommended modifications! I'm saving $92 per month! (the only downside is I contracted a nasty case of botulism)🤣
I’m here today because my older father fell for this scam. He asked me to research the product and I found your video. I’m going to have to brake the news to him that he was duped. Funny video btw 😂
I love this video...Wife just saw this crap on her tablet and asked me to look it up....LMAO...EPIC. I just saved $50, knowing how it works did save me MONEY....Great video. Subbed and liked...lol.
I was about to buy one but wanted to know how it works, thank you bro
i usually dont reply to videos but i have to tell you that was great. beyond funny when you started shorting your cirquits out. very entertaining lol
I found your channel because I wanted to buy one. Thanks for the review
that was actually FUNNNNYY and filled with subtle sarcasm 😂😂
Best review I have ever seen. So much misinformation on the internet concerning this product. I was looking for a graph showing how much people saved on electricity and of course I couldn't find one.
WOW after slightly modifying it like you did , it really does save electricity !! Now where's my flashlight ? Great Video
OUTSTANDING!! And a sense of humor to boot.
When I saw him putting them 2 wires together and said "And this is the magic circuit that will save energy" I died of laughter🤣🤣🤣
"It's working already, we are saving power"🤣🤣
"MAGIC PIXIE DUST" 🧚♀️😂☠ Had me lmfao. Now I'm pretty curious as to what the "magic pixie dust" was exactly 🤔 lol. Thanks for the laugh and the insight as well 👍
Im so curious too! I was hoping someone in the comments knew what it was
You had me a Magic Pixy Dust😂 My 1st thought was if it seems to be to good to be true, it's not! Your video proved me right, thanks.
Excellent, thanks.: So much of today's world is running on pixi dust. The esaver device reminds me of a big selling "magic tv antenna" that sold big time some years ago. Inside the antenna wire was just tied around a common washer. Retired radio engineer and ham
Thanks for the tip. I am a single man, and I can see it saving me a small fortune in the future! It will certainly get me closer to retirement.
found this exact one plugged in at my great grandma's house behind a dresser. immediately unplugged and was almost sure it was just a green LED. i actually thought it was a forgotten night light at first lol
As soon as you tied the wires together and plugged it in, I laughed way too hard. Subscribing because of this awesome video LOL
Great video!! Educated me on why it doesn't work. Also saved me some money because I was going to buy some of these.
Leave it to Matthias to make the best, wittiest april fools joke video I managed to see on youtube this year!
