I agree, NiMh is still a great choice for any critical application where safety is paramount. But Lithium based are energy density winners, I think over time stringent industry standards and established leadership will emerge. For now it's a little unsettled - with new names making wild claims. 400-450mAh at 9V is there today with rechargeable Lithium.

Jackery is undeniably the pioneer in this space. They still have very consumer friendly portable power solutions. But increasingly consumers have very competitive alternatives to choose from.

Hello Clint, yeah it turned out to be a rather interesting problem to solve. For now I have a wind up handle to rewind the spring in the morning. To replace this function with a motor would require a separate energy source. Definitely possible but the intention here was to build a very robust and durable all-mechanical tracker.

We have dual axis prototypes as well. However, the cost/benefit make it a bit iffy for the portable market. We plan to bring this single axis to production first - ideally suited for camping/outdoor enthusiasts. We may follow-up with a dual axis portable (larger wattage) for a different segment.
