How can the world's largest corporations benefit from investing in sustainable design practices? While many architecture and design firms are quick to claim their involvement in carbon zero challenges or various ‘green’ certifications - very few have reflected what a future sustainable practice entails. In this session, the speakers deliver a brief synopsis on the role of architects and their importance in fighting climate challenges across varying scales of corporate social responsibility. Case studies are shared in how firms are repositioning interdisciplinary roles such as strategists, consultants, and analysts within A+E office structures and how these positions are ushering in a new era of architectural practice. While trained as professional architects and holding joint backgrounds in sustainability analysis and strategy, both speakers share their thoughts on how their studies at Harvard GSD Master of Design Studies in Ecology allowed them to refocus their skills and apply to assist larger companies in fighting climate change.
