    Mike, I really enjoyed this. It just popped up in my feed so I gave it a whirl. What I got was a straight forward, unbiased, logically and calmly presented discussion. I agree with much of what you said and have been using a few bags, vests, etc to conceal carry for years. I cannot drive comfortably for any distance with Appendix carry. So I improvised. Good solid information. I'm a subscriber. 👍

    As a paramedic all this medical equipment is focused on treating trauma. A myocardial infarction kills an American every 60 seconds (Heart disease and stroke statistics-2017 update: A report from the American Heart Association. Circulation). Carrying one tablet of 300mg of dispersible aspirin which can be chewed, by the patient has been shown to decrease mortality by 23% [ISIS-2 (Second International Study of Infarct Survival), Lancet]. Just a thought.

    I constantly have to argue this point with individuals as to why I carry every single day even to take the trash out. I have to thoroughly break down and analyze for these people the reasons as to why. it seems to be some disconnect between mindsets of different types of people. and I can almost tell to the point of just looking at someone whether or not they would even comprehend the point that I would be making as to why I carry every day. it is like it is a different language.

    On disability now but was a correctional peace officer (jail guard) Something I carry as well is a light duty truck tie down strap.
    Just in case I have to drag someone wounded out of an active scene, as well it could be used in a pinch as an extra tourniquet.
    My own personal thought I prefer flash lights and other gear that use AAA or AA batteries instead of USB chargeable. My thinking is again in a pinch the batteries go flat it is easier to quickly swap the batteries then to have to wait and charge it. Im probably over thinking that but thats normal for me lol
    Oh and since I am licensed and well what the heck i always carry a vhf/uhf hand held radio with me as well.

      Virginia resident here. (Va Beach- coastal, hot, humid) I have 2 different carry pistols, one for winter, one for summer with shorts and a tee shirt. Both with red dots and WML. I also carry that smaller rig (cz p10s, but any compact/subcompact will do) with a Crossbreed Liberty Band (belly band w/reinforced webbing to receive holster clips) utilizing my current AIWB holster (no need for special shell) when I go walking in the neighborhood with my wife wearing jogging shorts or sweatpants. As for medical, I took a Stop the Bleed course, and consolidated my medical down to twin pack of chest seals, hemostatic compression gauze, and SWAT-T tourniquet- all laid flat and electrical taped together with a tab of tape at the end doubled over so I can stop it apart quickly in an emergency and get to any of them. They’re all sealed in their original packaging, and I’ve been carrying that medical so far for about 6 months without issue. Still looks to be in good condition without any other necessary pouch. My other carry gear is a Tale of Knives leather pouch on my left hip with a Boker metal pen w/ glass breaker, a second flashlight and a multi-tool, and on my right hip, a fixed blade knife.
      The only edc that changes year round is which pistol /spare mag I’m carrying in an appendix rig. Otherwise, it’s always the same. Hope this helps fellow Southerner!

    • @stevesummerford3690
      @stevesummerford3690 2 года назад +1

      Oh, one more thing- I carry additional medical in each of our vehicles. Additional CAT-7 tourniquets from NAR, compression bandages, splints, first aid kits, etc., but the medical I mentioned above is just what I carry on myself. Being that I wear shorts 6-8 months if the year I passed on other medical carry options, and I’m not carrying a bag or backpack on me everywhere I go. I keep those in my vehicles.

    Why not a light on your firearm and a separate utility light. Don’t like holding a light separate from my firearm . If you deploy your firearm in a self defense scenario , I wouldn’t want to have to look for my light as well. I do want to positively identify my target so I somewhat disagree with Mike on this point.

    • @LivingGrey
      @LivingGrey 2 года назад +10

      Most operators don't like lights on pistols because of the propensity to give away your own position. They carry a separate light and train to use that light in conjunction with their pistol at night. Same reason GBRS runs lights on their AR's without a pressure pad. One accidental press of the light and they die.

    • @internal_dialogue9290
      @internal_dialogue9290 2 года назад +2

      @@LivingGrey That all makes perfect sense but he was just discussing EDC. I’m not saying a light on your firearm is the right thing, I just disagreed with his reasoning behind it. No disrespect meant. It’s ok to have differing opinions. Totally understand the thought process of no pressure pads for lights in a mission type scenario or even a self defense situation.

    • @LivingGrey
      @LivingGrey 2 года назад +3

      @@internal_dialogue9290 of course that makes sense. Even among people with Mile's experience there are different opinions on things like that. Nice hearing from all of them and their reasoning behind those choices. Helps me make my own informed decisions based on what works for me

    • @jasonbo4887
      @jasonbo4887 2 года назад +4

      @@internal_dialogue9290 I agree with you completely, why not have both. Most pistol lights can be activated while keeping both hands on the gun. I personally think you can’t beat having a pistol light especially if you’re out at night or your edc is also your home defense.

    • @michaels5210
      @michaels5210 2 года назад +2

      I tend to agree here. Especially with the onset of reliable/rugged “micro” pistol lights, I.e the TLR7 which I have on ALL my EDC guns purely because it’s more comfortable to carry. and a weapon mounted light is NECESSARY in my opinion for a defensive firearm. Like I said it’s just my OPINION lol obviously I ain’t gonna tell Mike Glover he’s wrong hahah.

    I can see the point in having all that stuff but for me I’m not going to carry all that stuff daily I’ll throw on a small 380acp with the stream light attached wallet phone keys and go about my day now if your a cop or cia operative definitely but I’m just a regular guy and unless I’m cornered in a bad situation I’m not sticking around to render aid or defend others from threats lol

    A belt for a tourniquet? It’s been proven that belts do more harm than good and you’re better off packing the wound with some cloth

      Packing is for junctional wounds. Good luck trying to pack a brachial or femoral bleed…
