I'm not really into the clone Waves but this looks extremely cool. This is something I would buy for myself. I've been carrying my second- generation Leatherman Wave as my main carry since last month. I like my Leatherman Arc but the Wave I would still prefer over the two models. The GOAT and Roxon Flex are my favorite modular tools. I've been tinkering with them at home.
Just got one today! IMPRESSED!!! I already like it better than my 30 yr old "Leatherman"! At this price get 2 ! I'm "Older" at 74 and rertired! I've always tried to be as close to a Renaissance man as possible. You know, a "MacGyver" of today! Independent, expert in at least "Something" and a Journeyman in MANY! Having a Tool-kit with me at all times is just "ME"! I now have One on my Work-around the house pants and another afixed to my Going to the Doctor's pants! LOL
I've ordered one. If you order online, 10% off for Memorial Day discount, and lifetime warranty. If you go in store, 20% off, but only a 5 year warranty. I'm sure that's an oversight.
@EvilOtto580 therefore I bought me the Titan 1/4 hex swivel Head ratchet. It‘s about 4 Inches in length an has 90 teeth. Just the swivel head is almost to big….
So I confused yes. But yeah if manufacturers do this for either nextool or even 1/4" to 1/4" and the adapter part with ball detent there can be something great for many of those multitools with ball detent bits. Mostly if the ratchet module have some retaining system of any kind.

I tried one of these, and was disappointed. My problem is the little philips screwdriver bit, which is barely held in by a tiny magnet in the socket. If you use, it it WILL come out and get lost fairly quickly. Would have been a good knife otherwise (apart from a few other quibbles).
I bought one. Its definitely not as good as a Wave. Definitely made from the same crappy 5cr Chinese steel as the rest of HF knives and is pretty soft. The only thing that might compare is the bits since Leatherman bits are crap to begin with.... I use Wiha with the Leatherman. This clone looks good though. Bottom line: if you don't care about the steel, if you are just a Walmart gun section knife kind of guy, this will probably be fine but don't beat on it because it will break and deform. You'll be sharpening the blades A LOT if you use them. If you are a former Leatherman guy, premium knife guy or just looking for a second Wave/Wave+ without the cost, pass on it. You'll be disappointed. Icon knife people tried to hype the knife up to being comparable to a Benchmade which its Chinese D2 tool steel is nothing compared to Benchmade USA SV40/SV90. Same thing is happening here. Just be aware. Its a good clone of the Wave, if you put it in the Amazon clone category.
Pretty much an exact clone of the original (non plus) wave. I am blown away at how this was such a silent release. Especially the build quality compared to the other Gordon knives (they are pretty junk)
@@stacc036 I do take care of my tools, I have tools that are over 50 years old still in good working shape but I also use my tools and all my leatherman tools have held up great for many years even when abused, the problem here is the quality of the metal
It may be beating a dead horse, but how much would an 8CR13MoV blade add to the cost? I mean, 8Cr isn't particularly good, but 5Cr? Why do multitool companies insist on using the junkiest steel they can find? Feh!
@@clydedoris5002 Mine marred itself right away 🤷♂🤷♂ Flat pry tool isn't flat anymore, knurling in the pliers are flat now. Not a big deal with blades, bigger deal with tools.
Don't really see anything about this that makes it worth getting. I have a bibury they are 7cr which is actually better then 420hc. 5cr is about the same as 420hc. The biggest no go is the bit driver. Leatherman bits are way to soft for my use. I actually use Wiha bits. They are the best ive found.
im very interested in this, is there a version on aliexpress? I am in canada so im not sure the logistics on getting one from harbor freight. Really, i only want the bit driver, if anyone is looking to salvage one off of this, maybe we can figure something out.
The Nextool Capitan and E1 have a similar but slightly different bit driver. The Ark mp01 I recently reviewed has a very similar bit driver to the Gordon's bit driver and it is on Aliexpress.
The only "better" tool than the Gordon is the Bibury (also Chinese). I'll never buy a new Leatherman again after returning my overpriced Arc. Not even magnacut steel could save the arc.
The interesting part is you can pick it up immediately vs waiting a few days to ship. (assuming it’s in stock at the store) Imagine you are traveling and need one quickly.
Yeah.... So.... I bought this on Friday, before Memorial Day, and today, 29MAY2024, I snapped the pliers performing light work around the farm. 10 out of 10, do NOT buy. I am returning mine tomorrow, and I am not looking back. I am severely disappointed.
Look man, I've bought some of the Chinese junk you've reviewed. Before you sing it's praises I need to see you clamp down on something and not break the plier heads, tighten the pivot screw to get slop out of the tools without snapping the junk screw heads off, and run a screw into a 2x4 without snapping the driver. I've broken ALL these things on cheap Chinese junk but my Gerber Diesel and my Rebar and Supertool 300 don't blink.
Wait, hol'up- this tool you're holding is "an inspiration to the Leatherman Wave"?? You're trying to tell us Leatherman made the Wave after seeing this tool in your hand? Or you're telling us you need to go back to school and beg your English teachers for more classes?
make the hammer test. don't just talk about the problems with the Wave. Prove that the different system is better. Somehow I doubt it. More interesting is how well the magnet is when having a screw on it. And...the generel testing. Test it. Use it. You can't compare some 40 bucks garbage with Leatherman when not testing if the plier can handle the same strength. And why do you think cutting some cord is a good test for scissors? I know it's done by many. But that just proves there are many idiots out there on RUclips. Everyone whould cut a robe or cord with the knife. Well...probably it's just me thinking scissors are useless on pocket knifes. You'll never have a scissor that can do what a scissors are needed for. Like cutting straight. These tiny shitty scissors will never cut a paper straight through. It will always have edges. For every task you could use the scissor for...just use the damn knife.
And it's 20% off this Memorial Day weekend 2024! Tough to beat $32 for this multitool.
It is only a 10% off coupon regular customers who do belong to the inside track club.
Great overview. I'm glad to see your stamp of approval!
Thanks for the great review. I just now picked one up. Man this is so close to the Wave!
It is!
And the built in lanyard ring, just another cool feature. Great video
Had a a Leatherman for thirty years then lost it. This knife is great and glad I acquired it . 🌴😎
Got one today and put it right to work. So far has not disappointed!
Great!
Just grabbed 2 this weekend after watching a different review. Excellent product for the price!
Nice review!
Very cool!
I learned abiut Leatherman last month but wasn't gonna buy because of price... but this I did buy
Love the video and Gordon is the best multi tool right now on the market.
Thanks!

Can confirm. Gerber Dime tweezers fit perfectly into the slot that the pocket clip used.
Very cool!
Just did a short video on your idea giving you credit! Fantastic idea!
The manager of my local HF was unaware of this product when I stopped in yesterday (June 18). Now he is hoping for a delivery.
Wow! I think they are going fast.
The Temu version of this is also very nice.
Pocket clip does fit the wave. Can confirm

Great review... Could you compare the metal saw?
The leatherman bits style is not something that i like, but everything else, seems great...
I hope you bought another one so you can experiment with some customization and to see if Wave parts fit.
I might have to do that.
i hope they come out with a bit kit for it
Agreed!
If there would be a clone of the Leatherman ratcheting Bit driver, thats something I would probably buy. 😬🤘🏻

Another RUclips video discussing this tool said he liked it until the pliers broke.
Did you even use this thing? The plier broke in half the first time I used it.
I used it for about a month with no issues. I would definitely return it as it may be a defective item.
It’s really a Charge Clone.

The combination bottle and can opener doesn't work with actual bottles.
Did you find the hidden lanyard loop yet ?
I did.
Does it solve the Wave hand pinch problem? Do the NexTool E1 flat bits work in the Gordon?
Good question. I'll have to look into those questions.Maybe I'll do a couple short videos addressing it.
Is the can opener supposed to be sharp?
Look at a old charge tti has the same tools as my charge tti other than blade quality
Have you tested the pliers and the grip on the tool when using them
Not really. I plan to use these for a month at work and do a further review.
Part of me really wants ones, but part of me can’t bring myself to pay $40 for anything at Harbor freight 😅
Especially when you can get a Rebar used on ebay for almost the same price.
Do the bits with larger heads fit as well? I found out that on my Nextool E1 only some work. Larger tip bits do not.
I will have to try it out. My Nextool E1 had the same result as you found on yours.
I hate that Gordon is printed so big it’s pretty tacky, other than that I love it
