The model tested here is the XLT with the SuperCrew Cab which has a base price of $39,815. Taking 700 lbs. out of this truck by going to an aluminum body has done wonders for both the ride quality and handling. Under the hood is a 3.5 liter EcoBoost V-6 engine that makes 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft. of torque. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic.

I have this same model with the sport package (mine is blue). It is a beautiful truck and is really nice to drive. It does take a little extra effort to close the door. There really is an amazing amount of space in the back of the cab. Starting from a dead stop is a bit sluggish with the AC running, but the amount of acceleration when passing is fantastic. The key is a fold-away style which is nice and more handy than one would expect. I don't have the step. The step really needs to be standard equipment imo. At Ford truck prices, that doesn't seem an unreasonable expectation.
The price is the only thing that bugs me

Im leaning towards getting this package except mine will be with the 6.5 box and in ignot silver as silver shows the least dirt. And Im putting a cap over the bed.
Why hop on the diesel bandwagon just because Ram has one? This is Fords answer to the EcoDiesel. You don't need a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Have you read the ridiculous tow rating for this truck? If you can't tow and get good fuel economy in this you sure as hell won't be able to do it in a diesel version.Too many journalists are asking for diesel versions just because they have nothing to complain about.
i just bought my 2015 ford 150 fx4 and it drives great, i also took my friends dodge 1500 hemi on a run and i whipped his ass
Best Truck all around and I should say It is the #1 Selling Truck in the world for the last 32 years. The Reason GM is still around is because we tax Payers Gave GM$ 2 Billion back in 08. because they went bankrupt and about to close the doors..
Dodge was right behind them 2 but all in all I think I'll give up 09 f250 and move down to the f150 but with a v8 I feel there more reliable
would u say that they been number 1 for so long because the military buys so much? when i was at fort bliss all the military vics where f150s or fords vans. staff duty vics so idk if there really the best selling

Yes military purchased , Purchase is done through a tender, the lowest bidder and the manufacturer with the most reliability gets the order, Just like the local Govt,,GM is JUNK!
Lots of companies buy Ford as their fleet trucks doesn't mean other suck but I believe it's just what ever looks better and priced better for you because they all or about the same really I just like the fords

I have a 2015 xlt 5.0 and I got it used exactly 1 week before the pandemic shut the country down!!! Lol.. I was hesitant because of that but it is my favorite front end style and has the 5.0.
I thought the same thing about the tailgate step till I helped a buddy unload his ford with it. It's well worth it when trying to step in and out of the bed carrying stuff
very nice truck.. id go with a 5.0 personally tho.
Every Ford I've had seems comfortable at first then over time I notice the seats are not as comfortable as other cars. I wonder if these are improved.
I wish we could get these in the UK! We can only get left-hand drive imports.
I have a wife, a 17 year old kid and a 90lbs dog. I am looking to get a pickup truck sometime next year 2020. I have watched your videos to try to see which would fit our needs best. The trouble is most all reviews focus on towing. My situation is a little different. My primary purpose is to haul the family and commute to work daily ( about 60/40 city/freeway) nothing extreme, and only about 50 miles a day round trip). The truck aspect is for the occasional trash haul, or helping someone move, or getting plywood at Home Depot for some project.
With all that being said, I want the most comfortable room, best fuel economy, reliability, safety and price. What is your recommendation?

With diesel fuel prices what they are I see no need for a diesel engine.
Good review of the truck. Surprised though on the con you came up with on the F-150 with no small diesel engine option??? I can tell you from my experiences that the small diesel for Chrysler was/is a gigantic bust. If you do not believe me check their sales numbers. I have sold new and used Ford F-150's for over 10 years, and I personally own this truck you are reviewing (2016 302a crew Sport/FX4 with the 5.0). A few years back I broke away from Ford temporarily and sold Ram trucks for a while at a CDJR dealer, and I only sold a couple of those Rams with the 3.0L eco diesel... They are junk. Now overall the Ram pickup truck is a pretty good truck with the hemi, but the 1/2 ton diesel truck was the worst selling inventory piece on the lot next to the new Jeep Renegade. Check the towing ratings on these 1/2 tons with the small diesel engines... it's pitiful, not to mention they are severely lacking in power. F-150 has been the number one selling truck for 39 going on 40 years straight. The new 10 speed automatic transmission (designed and built by Ford and GM) coupled with the ecoboost engines and military grade aluminum body achieve great MPG's and best in class towing capability, with no need for a wimpy small diesel option.
Um, you do know the F150 is getting a diesel next year, right?
ford is the innovator when it comes to trucks. the ecoboost engine is far better then the ram ecodiesel. I don't think ford needs to step anything up, they are head of the game

Decent review, but I think you could've talked about the interior, touchscreen, etc. while parked (and done a better job of it) instead of while driving and continuously taking your eyes off the road to poke fidget with the controls. I could actually see your eyes look down and how much time you weren't even watching the road - it was making me nervous! Glad there wasn't any cyclists or pedestrians out on the side of the road...
+Zuke I didn't notice that in the video, but that's my issue with touch screens at all. Here we are having issues with distracted driving, and we put touch screens in our cars. Not a good idea. I like the buttons on the wheel if you can feel the one you want, if they are intuitive enough to use w/o looking. Touch screens if installed at all should be disabled while moving. imho

I re-drove it and Cesar Abraham you were right. It is much smoother. There must have been something different about the set-up of the first one that I drove. Picked up a F-150 Platinum yesterday
