I thought the twist at the end made the most sense given the context of these characters and their relationships. Even though the first death was an accident, their underlying hatred and distrust for one another ended up taking them all down. Once Greg and Alice were killed by the group I sorta figured out it wouldn’t be a traditional slasher reveal.
I personally loved the movie. Ironically, you call the movie forgettable, but I feel like if it had been what you wanted it to be (a straightforward slasher), then THAT would have been forgettable. The final reveal to me was hilarious and particularly UNforgettable. I’ve seen the movie you wanted this to be a million times, but I’ve never seen another movie quite like what this ended up being.
There are so many GREAT slashers that pretty much follow the exact same formula, and yet they are extremely memorable. Different doesn't always mean great. But I'm so happy you enjoyed it Bryan.
@@KyleFilms69 no one in this movie is a “tik tok actor”. Just because you didn’t enjoy the film doesn’t mean the cast has no talent. Go watch Rachel Sennott in “Shiva Baby,” she’s incredible
His fate fell in line with his personality. He was hollow. He talked game and was an ass but stepped down when Greg stood up to him. His fate was him trying to show off at something he didn't actually know how to do
I absolutely loved this movie! Me and my dad just got out of this theater after seeing it and we loved it! The cast was terrific, I enjoyed the humor, and I loved the reveal ! Pete Davidson is my favorite comedian and I very much enjoyed his performance in this movie, again he’s a hit or miss with people, which is fine, that’s what opinions are for.
Pete Davidson is terrible, to me, personally and this movie was a letdown. Glad you enjoyed it though. Like they say, different strokes for different folks 👍
The marketing for this film was strange, in that there were two distinct trailers. The first one (with all the Twitter-speak) was framed as a horror-comedy, and the second trailer, eliminated most of the Gen-Z speak and looked like a straight up slasher. Interested to know if you saw both trailers. Personally, I thought that the first trailer sold this film perfectly! I thought it was (mostly) hilarious, the writers hit their targets and the satire definitely landed for me. I was thoroughly entertained and appreciated that the actors REALLY committed to their characters. Great review Lee!
I thought it was a very well done movie. The characters are meant to be unlikeable and over the top and react way too dramatically. It’s a horror COMEDY making fun of today’s liberal young adults. I feel like you missed the point. While the reveal was a little sudden, it was clever. Reminded me of April Fool’s Day. It sounds like you wanted a slasher where somebody was secretly killing everybody. I’m glad it was something different, as the other option has literally been done 1000 times.
I personally loved the reveal and the movie. It was so different and not the typical cliched ending or movie. The satire of modern TikTok and Gen-Z culture was great.
I feel like in this current world of horror remakes that are constantly just trying to do the same things their franchises have already done to please people from those time periods, this is a serious breath of fresh air. The climate of cinema today is constantly revolving around pleasing Gen-X, which makes sense because most the people working in the industry are of that time period, but the fact that we actually have a horror movie that understands Gen-Z is really special right now. I think this movie accomplishes a level of horror people are overlooking: the fact that it allegorizes the way our internet age society has become, acting so hostile all the time of each others' beliefs, indulging in drugs and withholding our true opinions so that we don't have to confront tough situations or rationalize our thoughts, and simply playing the blame game to cover our asses in a generation that only becomes more competitive everyday giving power to cancel culture. It almost feels like a plausible version of "The Thing" without having to advertise it as such! I think the fact that you found the movie to be annoying and overwhelming is really more of a compliment than a drawback because the chaotic nature the movie puts you through is frightening considering many people do operate like this today when it comes to how they deal with surviving in today's social culture and finding ways to be on top. Obviously murder and what have you is an exaggerated way to express it, but this a horror movie after all so it feels completely warrented. I know we may disagree, but this kind of material is exactly what I find to be lacking in requels or reboots like "Scream 5" that are a little too obsessed with the past to really, and I mean REALLY which Scream 5 does not do, focus on what they're exploring about these modern times. So far, X, Nope, and this to me are progressing the horror genre with some serious effort that we haven't seen in quite some time.
Generations ago, "Jawbreaker", "Heathers", etc. sowed the seeds of this type of story but had characters you cared and rooted for or you reveled in their villainy. BBB was like throwing a bunch of unlikeable "not like other girls" that think of themselves as being edgy (i.e. the type that loudly proclaims how much they looove serial killer docs) into what was thought of as an original, dark comedy. I definitely was not the demographic and only found this film moderately entertaining.
Positives for me: I actually like Pete Davidson and am glad he's quit SNL to do movies. I also like how they make fun of Gen zers. Some of it was really cringe but a lot of what gen zers say and do is cringy so it worked. Negatives: They lied and called it a horror slasher when its not. Just tell us its satire comedy. Then we won't be disappointed in it.
This movie was amazing. I had a really good time with it. I love how it was a satirical take on so called “woke” culture. The reveal was hilarious and their expression at the end once they realized it was perfect.
Honestly, after watching A24’s nihilistic’s “Men” I found this to be really refreshing. It’s satire, much like American Psycho they’re not meant to be likable. and yeah the ending had me laughing my ass off. Not that I like him but I’m betting Kayne did too 😂
Based on the trailer I thought this was either going to be a surprising good time or one of the most annoying movies ever and holy crap was it ever the ladder. I could not stand any of the characters besides the quiet girl. I did like the twist and it’s a good plot that I’d like to be seen done again but my god these characters make every scene insufferable. Saw Fall after this movie and enjoyed it 1000 times more.
I watched it last night with my coworker and we both enjoyed it. I never saw it as a slasher or a horror movie when the trailer came out, more of a whodunit dark comedy. I feel like that’s what it was and I went into it with really low expectations and came out having a fun time. I honestly don’t think it was trying to be edgy, I just think it’s a satire of Gen z “culture” and I found it funny because of that. The ending was ridiculous but I liked it because of that, goes to show what happens in a situation where people don’t think straight. I honestly think your experience will depend on what type movie you think you’re going into. I think it’s a good movie to have when friends are over and just laugh.
The problem with the movie is that it basically starts out by humorously presenting its wealthy Gen Z characters as shallow and self-absorbed and then keeps making that same point over and over while adding in a fairly unimaginative slasher movie plot. The only divergence from this is the character of Bee, who is an outsider to the group, but there's no real payoff or major development to her character at the end. The final reveal is mildly amusing, but it merely reiterates the same joke that the film has been making for the previous 90 minutes.
The movie didn’t grab me right away, the characters relationships to each other was very confusing. However, once It got rolling I had a really good time! Im a little older than the group in the movie but they nailed the dialogue! That’s exactly what Gen Z sounds like and exactly what would happen in this situation. Definitely not a masterpiece but l enjoyed it! And the lighting was great!

Agreed. I would put this at a 3 or 3.5 out of 5. I laughed and groaned at the same time of the reveal. The satire on Gen Z is amusing, but a bit over the top. However, found my new favorite song 🎵Bored in the house, in the house bored...🎵
Good review Lee I’m going to watch bodies bodies bodies tomorrow morning but just with all of the mix and divisive recation this one is definitely going to be polarizing like with most A24 films

I thought it was okay. I was digging the first half but then when I started seeing things unfold I knew what was gonna happen. I wish there was more but it was okay
I'm with you....I thought the reveal was kinda funny...but not satisfying at all. And all the characters were unlikable so I was kinda hoping they would all die.
Spoiler warning. Do not click "read more" if you haven't seen the film. I get what you're saying in this review, but to me this movie did feel natural, not forced at all. I've been around a lot of people that act like this in situations, so this felt very real to me. Sure this movie wasn't scary, but it had very original ideas. Not once had we had a movie that the characters are this smart enough to execute each other. Even one of the characters figures out what is going on while getting higher and higher. Of course they get dumber over time, because they are high, but at the beginning (first hour) they are the smartest characters we've got in any movie. Talking about the ending. Very original, and fresh. I'm am so tired of having a final girl kill the killer and have a happy ending. They leave us with a cliffhanger not knowing what ending these characters get. Like other A24 movies there is symbolism that there is actually a killer. And watching the movie about 5 times I saw that Sophie and David caused all if it on purpose. We never get another scene of them talking in the beginning. Why? Because they were watching the tiktok, and discussing it. Sophie was also looking for pills later in the film to give to Emma, and it's obivous David told her where they were. In a eye ball. If Sophie was just looking for drugs she wouldn't have gave it to Emma. There's way more to this ending that meets the eye. Like the cut on Max's head, to the service suddenly coming on when Max enters. That's all I have to say I give it a 95/100. Pretty much perfect movie, with some scenes that should have been replaced with others.
Maybe it’s generational but I never found Pete Davidson particularly funny. I have nieces who say “He’s on SNL” and I immediately think of Farley and Spade in Tommy Boy and Sandler in Happy Gilmore. Funny guys from SNL who went on to do funny movies. I’ve yet to see a review that says this film is worth the chore and $ going to the movies is nowadays. I will however give Tommy Boy another watch now. “It’s a clip on” “Are you sure!?”“HOUSEKEEPING!”
What you're saying about this movie is what I thought about X. Had high expectations because it was an A24 film and left thinking "meh". If I don't like this more than X, it would be disappointing
The reveal was neccessary for the movie to work. Of course if you´re going in expecting a normal off-the-shelf slasher from Trailers (which I try to avoid always) then you could be dissapointed. It was the one of the few times where I actually saw the twist coming. Normally I´m not good at that. That´s why I love murder/mysteries. I did found it refreshing as a different entry to the genre. But the movie actually doesn´t want to be labeled. Good AC on the disc. It had style and some atmosphere. Good looking and great sounding disc. Purchase worthy. 7/10 😜
Good review Lee... I'm not sure about this movie either... It seemed its going for a horror movie mixed in with a spring breakers style.. With all the colours and the style... Maybe I'll give it a go... Good points though... You're very detailed Lee 👍👍
I love this movie so much I am 13 I watched it with my mom it was a clue like whodunnit. But the reveal was ok. But I really liked. Pretty be your vids Lee. Have a great day
Considering I'm still recovering as an outpatient after spending the night in the ER, I wouldn't be up to going to see it anyways. Glad to hear I'm not missing much. Thank you, Lee.
@@DrumdumsOfficial Thank you, UTI among several other things, my release papers about book size, but Urology should be calling me any day now for an appointment.
Edgy is not what I got with the way the movie and characters are executed. It’s supposed to be satire and comedy, which have been a party of story telling for a very long time. But anyways different strokes for different folks right, when I saw this at the sxsw premiere I had a great time and will admit I hated the ending at first, but then thought about it and loved it, because it’s not a cookie cutter ending. Just my thoughts.
There as literally NO elements of horror in this movie. It's wasn't a bad movie, it just wasn't horror, AT ALL!!!! I hate that it was marketed as a horror movie.. I mean, drama/comedy maybe, but NO horror!!!!!
Everything that seemed like a con was actually done purposefully. I a tualy really appreciated and enjoyed the annoying and insufferable characters in this film. It just HAD to come down to that ending IMHO 9/10 for me
I just watched this movie a week ago it’s October first 2024. I swore it just came out didn’t know this movie existed until my movie app was like new releases bodies bodies bodies. I was like this is about to be like truth or dare so I skipped it at first then went back and watch, but I didn’t like it much. it seemed as if they were judging for, someone getting help with problems and judging the foreign student instead of asking. I also didn’t like how Pete liked himself it looked fake. There was no scare factor:( I wanted it to be good. I agree with him not the worst movie EVER. it could’ve been better I give this movie 3.5/10
Spoiler :: Although the ending was unique I completely agree and found it frustrating. I just wanted there to be a killer… I felt like I was so invested for nothing it just felt like the whole thing was a waste but at the same time I do think it was clever and because it’s a dark comedy and making fun of TikTok I get it but I still was kinda disappointed. I definitely agree that this movie is forgettable. I kind of wish I wouldn’t of seen it in theaters and just waited for it to come out on demand.
I agree with your review completely and I didn't like the movie but I'm not a horror fan, anyway. I also predicted the ending about David. I wanted to love this movie because I appreciate A24, and I love Amandla Stenberg and Pete Davidson so I thought that great actors would save the movie but it didn't do it for me. I thought that some of the jokes were funny though as the movie is supposed to be a satire about Gen Z and I felt that it did a great job of that.
Matter fact glad u brought up the ending with David death cause they even messed that up HERES WHY When they were watching the video on the phone: David was fucking with the sword and he killed himself and was day time and not raining.......YET WHEN they discovered David's body it was night time and hurricane force weather. SO ITS LIKE UMMMMM WHAT if he killed himself in the day time...why did it take night time for them to discover his body and die cause it was deff day time when he filmed himself Messing with that sword 🗡️🤦🏼♀️🤣
That makes no sense he was still alive when it was dark and they found him still alive he would have bleed out so he literally just killed himself ??????
I love Bodies Bodies Bodies. It was something new, fresh, unique, inventive, stylish, cool, edgy, hip, and updated such as the concept and themes due to it's satirical and black comedy humor. It was decent. 😍👍😎💯
Went to the cinema today to watch this movie, and with about 10 or 15 minutes left the film cut off. The staff couldn't fix the problem, so i didn't see the ending.. Sounds like i didn't miss much.. Oh well at least i got free food out of it 🤣🤣🤣
Is this movie bad. Yes. The characters are insufferable. But I did enjoy it for the unintentional hilarious trainwreck. And that what I got out of it. If you enjoy unintentional trainwrecks. Than people might enjoy it. I give this movie a rent it on my rating system.
i mean looking at the characters and listening to what you have to say..I have no doubt it would not be worth a watch. Most of these movies are just plain garbage and i guess even A24 is guilty of putting them out. truthfully im finding so many low budget "B" 70s 80s horror movies on TUBI PeaCock ROKU etc that are so much more fun and what horror should be..simple..Most movies today just cant seem to get much right. With a few exceptions..
I hated all the characters but thought the ending was refreshing. This movie may get more love in the future when future generations look back at how ridiculous this modern lingo is. But its still hard to like because every character was horrible and they had to be horrible for the end twist. The characters were always splitting up and talking about pointless drama. I am glad the film recognized these chicks were dumb af.
It was honestly a breath of fresh air for me. I love the “who’s done it” nature of the film. It reminded me of Scream (the original) and the twist ended made the film work better because you think you are watching one thing, but you get something else in return.
Every single Gen Z reviewer loved this movie lol it was so terrible the dialog sounded like it was ripped str8 out of a Twitter thread and the ending wasn't finished so they just cut to black 😆 3/10

Agree with you about X. It was watchable yet extremely underwhelming. Strange and not in a satisfactory way... still deciding if I'll watch Pearl..
Hahah funny an ad for bodies bodies bodies just played before this review hahaha
I really really enjoyed it. Brutal dialogs!
Rachel Sennott needs an Oscar nomination soon
I love this movie so much I am 13 I watched it with my mom it was a clue like whodunnit. But the reveal was ok. But I really liked. Pretty be your vids Lee. Have a great day
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it Daniel.
The spoiler made me way more interested in the movie
but the ending suits the purpose of the movie which is satire
Considering I'm still recovering as an outpatient after spending the night in the ER, I wouldn't be up to going to see it anyways. Glad to hear I'm not missing much. Thank you, Lee.
So sorry Jen. Hope you have a speedy recovery.
@@DrumdumsOfficial Thank you, UTI among several other things, my release papers about book size, but Urology should be calling me any day now for an appointment.
After watching the spoiler section, it kind of has me interested. A 3 Stooges situation of sorts.
I mean, drama/comedy maybe, but NO horror!!!!!
im glad i will go in with low expectations, maybe i'll like it.
This movie was very try-hard.
Meanwhile, I hated everything about the movie EXCEPT the reveal LOL
Everything that seemed like a con was actually done purposefully. I a tualy really appreciated and enjoyed the annoying and insufferable characters in this film. It just HAD to come down to that ending IMHO
9/10 for me
Ending made me like it more
I just watched this movie a week ago it’s October first 2024.
Yeah I wanted to like this one so bad. Broke my heart.
Spoiler ::
Although the ending was unique I completely agree and found it frustrating. I kind of wish I wouldn’t of seen it in theaters and just waited for it to come out on demand.
it looked like they were trying too hard just from the trailer
I agree with your review completely and I didn't like the movie but I'm not a horror fan, anyway. I also predicted the ending about David. I wanted to love this movie because I appreciate A24, and I love Amandla Stenberg and Pete Davidson so I thought that great actors would save the movie but it didn't do it for me. I thought that some of the jokes were funny though as the movie is supposed to be a satire about Gen Z and I felt that it did a great job of that.
Yeah I feel like you completely missed the point
I did. We have the same last name.
Matter fact glad u brought up the ending with David death cause they even messed that up HERES WHY
When they were watching the video on the phone: David was fucking with the sword and he killed himself and was day time and not raining.......YET WHEN they discovered David's body it was night time and hurricane force weather.
That ending you described sounds so bad... thanks for the heads up Lee.
You're welcome Ricky!
I love Bodies Bodies Bodies. It was something new, fresh, unique, inventive, stylish, cool, edgy, hip, and updated such as the concept and themes due to it's satirical and black comedy humor. It was decent. 😍👍😎💯
Glad you enjoyed it.
@@DrumdumsOfficial Thanks ☺️
Sounds like Clue with Gen Z.
Went to the cinema today to watch this movie, and with about 10 or 15 minutes left the film cut off. The staff couldn't fix the problem, so i didn't see the ending.. Sounds like i didn't miss much.. Oh well at least i got free food out of it 🤣🤣🤣
Damn man I’m so sorry to hear that. I hate when that happens. I’ve had it happen one time, but I can’t remember the movie.
Is this movie bad. Yes. The characters are insufferable. But I did enjoy it for the unintentional hilarious trainwreck. And that what I got out of it. If you enjoy unintentional trainwrecks. Than people might enjoy it. I give this movie a rent it on my rating system.
I just couldn't get into it Chris haha.
@Drumdums I guess after reading some of the comments I see the issue..its geared towards GenZ..that says it all..lol
From the look of it A24 is now trying to be edgy the same same Blumhouse has been doing it for the past decade.
Didn't like this one either
Thought it was a great satire.. I’m glad this wasn’t a slasher.. and the ending was something else haha.
I wasn't looking forward too this it looked annoying if anything 🎃🎃🎃
Sounds like this movie has the same problems that X had!
i mean looking at the characters and listening to what you have to say..I have no doubt it would not be worth a watch.
I'm first!
i loved bodies bodies bodies
i loveddddd Emma so much the movie twist was funny af
It sucked completely
It was honestly a breath of fresh air for me. I love the “who’s done it” nature of the film. It reminded me of Scream (the original) and the twist ended made the film work better because you think you are watching one thing, but you get something else in return.
A24 has had few duds lately. I'm sure they will get back on track with PEARL, though...
X was ok but not that great. It was more akin to House of 1,000 Corpses fun than The Texas Chainsaw Massacre…
They have my favorite (Everything Everywhere All At Once) and least favorite (Men) movies of the year
@Lorenzo Smit It's not complete trash, just very weird and kinda boring. The ending is cool though
OHHH WOW THAT ENDING SUCKS PLSSS
Think you missed the point of the movie, boss
😘
Respect your opinion, but I think your way off. Bodies Bodies Bodies was great
Oh I know I’m way off.
WORST MOVIE I EVER SAW AND THAT INCLUDES JAWS 4
Every single Gen Z reviewer loved this movie lol it was so terrible the dialog sounded like it was ripped str8 out of a Twitter thread and the ending wasn't finished so they just cut to black 😆
3/10
Preach. it was annoying af.
I hated this movie everyone was annoying all there problems were first world nation
A movie w Pete Davidson in it is your first clue that it’s gonna suck!
Oh my did this movie suck . If you hate politics or anything that is going on in this world like myself this movie WOW what a PC of crap . I just got home from seeing it it's Horrible. False advertising at its best ✌🏼
Not liking a movie because it didnt end up being the movie you wanted it to be is insanely dumb
Love ur review Lee, Only A24 film i like and think isn’t stupid or overrated is “men” from earlier this year. Pete Davidson is overrated to and just not a good actor, he just comes off as obnoxious
I’ve been really curious about men. I’ll definitely check it out soon. Thanks brother!
This movie was a steaming pile of feces. A24 is beginning to stand for over pretentious bores of films.
So far, I've heard divided opinions and based on those, plus this just looks loud and obnoxious by the trailer, I'll wait for streaming.
