@CEDtalks85 I thought the same thing ...2022 was also a strong year for horror movies..you had Barberian , X , Pearl , V/h/s and so many horror movies ...the 2020 decade has been a strong that hopefully 2025 continues on that momentum .
This was indeed a great year. And I still have a few movies left that I haven't watched yet (Heretic and The Substance). Oh and thanks for recommending Lowlives earlier this year too, I would probably never have watched it if it wasn't for you. Cheers and I hope you have a smashing 2025 my man.

2024 was a surprisingly awesome year for horror! I thought last year was kind of a disappointing year for horror. We got some great but also a lot that felt way short of my expectations. Amazing for horror. It started off a little shaky, but it maintained momentum in March with Late Night with the Devil. Almost every month afterwards had a great horror film. I'm hoping Leigh Whannel starts 2025 off with a strong film like he did in 2020. The shift in release dates from October has me slightly worried. It seemed more strategic in hindsight. There were plenty of potential hits in October.
I was watching Carrie yesterday (De Palma's of course.) and couldn't help but think about Late Night...during ending. Ps.Carrie's ending is so superb I've forgoten, it's been a while since the last time.

This has been one of the greatest years in horror for a long time. Even better than 2022 somehow! It started very weak, but I think the bangers started to hit from The first omen onwards! I’ve seen 70 exactly, finally seeing Stream tonight! Great ranking Lee, though mine is fairly different to yours but still have some of the same. (Also nosferatu isn’t out till New Year’s Day in the UK so that will be a 2025 movie for me) I had to do a top 20 I couldn’t keep to 10. Ive included my score out of 5, and there is so many 4 and 5’s for this ranking. It’s been incredible. (I hated the substance so it won’t be here and I found alien Romulus disappointing overall. Agree. We had so many great horror films this year. I loved Immaculate, Oddity and Abigail. Late Night with the Devil is a classic. Would love to see it get some Oscar attention. Nosferatu looked fantastic. It wasn’t scary but I liked it. The First Omen was very well made. It really surprised me. I agree the lead actress rocked it. I did not care for Longleggs. I’m a big Mika Monroe fan too but the movie was so overrated. Alien Romulus was excellent and Kaylee Spaney was great. The Substance is the movie of the year. Perfection.
I’m thinking that there must be something wrong with me; Abigail is my number one and it didn’t even make your list. I am still waiting to receive Terrifier as I did a blind buy but haven’t received it.
Longlegs was so good I had to see it twice in the theater to wrap my mind around what it all meant, but both it and The Substance were both phenomenal. I liked Late night with the devil, but I'm not going to lie: I did lose interest whenever the commercial breaks occurred with the behind the scenes stuff happened. It wasn't bad, I was just more interested in the televised show. David D was fantastic though. I even liked movies that weren't popular with a lot of people like Winnie the pooh 2 and Night Swim.

Me too, that's why I can't understand how it made it to the top 5. As you said, it's the greatest hits of the franchise, but for me in a bad way. A pity as I was expecting more from F.A after the pretty good E D remake. Still love your channel.
Maybe I’m just a negative Nancy but this has been such a weak year for me. Smile 2 is the only horror movie that cracks a 4/5 for me. T3 and longlegs were there but after rewatches I liked them a little less. Everything else has either been an ok 3/5 or a forgettable 2/5. Not much trash this year but so much mid tier non memorable stuff. Same for non horror too tbh. My favorite movie of the year was the beekeeper and that came out in January.
My Orlock is of the Nosferatu clan like Barlow, not a goth girl fantasy. Both Salem's Lot and new Nosferatu ai didn't like. Glad you did, I always respect your opinion and will continue to watch your videos

Oddity was one of the biggest surprises of the year!
The beauty and the glitz lasted for an hour in The Substance. By the time the crazy shit finally kicked in, I was nearly checked out.

Agree. We had so many great horror films this year. I loved Immaculate, Oddity and Abigail. Late Night with the Devil is a classic. Would love to see it get some Oscar attention. Nosferatu looked fantastic. It wasn’t scary but I liked it. The First Omen was very well made. It really surprised me. I agree the lead actress rocked it. I did not care for Longleggs. I’m a big Mika Monroe fan too but the movie was so overrated. Alien Romulus was excellent and Kaylee Spaney was great. The Substance is the movie of the year. Perfection.
I’m thinking that there must be something wrong with me; Abigail is my number one and it didn’t even make your list. I am still waiting to receive Terrifier as I did a blind buy but haven’t received it.

Longlegs was so good I had to see it twice in the theater to wrap my mind around what it all meant, but both it and The Substance were both phenomenal. I liked Late night with the devil, but I'm not going to lie: I did lose interest whenever the commercial breaks occurred with the behind the scenes stuff happened. It wasn't bad, I was just more interested in the televised show. David D was fantastic though.
I even liked movies that weren't popular with a lot of people like Winnie the pooh 2 and Night Swim.
I just gave it a second watch recently!
Lowlifes is pretty good, nice subversion at the end.

Nice review although I still didn't like Romulus and Terrifier (all entries) is garbage pure and simple. Substance was wildly overrated but got to give kudos to the F/X team for some truly wild body horror (my niece was less impressed by summing it up as The Fly with tits) 🤣 Happy New Year to you and yours!

I didnt care for Late Night with the Devil. I just cant bring myself to watch any of the terrifiers. Longlegs Nosferatu & The Substance were phenomonal. Nosferatu made my #1 on my 2024 films

I think terrifier 3 was overrated IMO.
Not overrated, just a certain formula.
You fo have to go back 20 years for so many great ones that being said my fave 2024 isnt t as good as the best of year as any other year whole lot of 9s no 10s

Me too, that's why I can't understand how it made it to the top 5. As you said, it's the greatest hits of the franchise, but for me in a bad way. A pity as I was expecting more from F.A after the pretty good E D remake. Still love your channel.
Maybe I’m just a negative Nancy but this has been such a weak year for me. Smile 2 is the only horror movie that cracks a 4/5 for me. T3 and longlegs were there but after rewatches I liked them a little less. Everything else has either been an ok 3/5 or a forgettable 2/5. Not much trash this year but so much mid tier non memorable stuff.
Same for non horror too tbh. My favorite movie of the year was the beekeeper and that came out in January.
It's all subjective. I loved so many movies this year.
