Angela Bassett only showed up briefly in this season for just a few minutes and she made the entire season. Why she wasn’t given more I’ll never understand. They need to make her the lead in a season. Utilize that talent, come on filmmakers!

I think Ryan and the creators and producers know Angela's iconic but there could be a few factors I think one is they can't pay her. Angela is the highest paid African-American actres out there.

D-jay Shawn Cordelias softer yes, but she isn’t “too weak”, I don’t doubt her magical ability at all when she needs to use it. She was weaker in apocalypse because in that timeline Mallory was rising as the next supreme and Cordelias powers were waning. In the new timeline, depending on how long it takes for Mallory to rise this time Cordelia could still grow to become a stupidly powerful witch. I’m guessing Mallory sped up the process of becoming the supreme because she knew she’d need the power to perform the time travel spell (maybe her wanting/needing to become supreme increased the rate at which it happened even though her memories were replaced, she still subconsciously knew). Now that Mallory has killed Michael, Cordelia could potentially carry on being supreme for a longer time.

This scene made me jump for joy. “Coven” was the first season I watched & the reason I watched it is because of Angela Bassett. That woman is incredible & her playing Marie Laveau was perfect casting. Too bad they don’t give her a whole season of her own. They always have her playing a side character.

Its also worth a mention that Marie would help Cordelia considering Marie reacted negatively every time Fiona abused Cordelia in front of her despite not saying anything verbally. This is most notable when Fiona slaps that shit outta Delia calling her Willfully blind after Hank's attack on Marie LaVeau's hair salon.

Some days I watch this just to feel her power. And laugh at her last line! There are very few actresses who can animate their face as much as she does and still make it play as totally truthful.
Angela Bassett was absolutely incredible in Coven, Hotel and Apocalypse. She has such a strong, beautiful presence and I always find myself glued to the screen when she’s on!

I always think of ahs as a somewhat poorly written show but incredibly acted Sara Paulson, Angela Basset, Kathy Bates, Frances Conroy and Jessica Lange are just explosions of talent every time they are on the screen and really show that actors can give showmaking performances

@Lawrence Fernandez in coven it states that Marie os over 200 years old, she definitely knows way more voodoo rituals and has more knowledge on it than dinha. Dinha deadass thinks that just because she negated cordelia's protection spell that she's powerful.

I remember her actor saying on twitter that she was sad she wasn't in this season. Was that intentional? When she appeared in this episode it made it even more potent.

She was working (and is still working) on 911. So due to that commitment she couldn't be present a whole season
it was accurate, after she complained this cameo was written in.
They were writing the story while shooting the season, so maybe she got free time from 911 or finished her sets on 911 and just show up and had fun :)
@@wytheli theres super fast turn around on AHS. so they were prob a few episodes before the finale being shot when she made her comments. I imagine Murphy just wrote her into the finale and contacted to make arrangements and boom voila.

I would've loved her as Storm. But the material back then was lacking back then when it came to her character. Storm basically got her ass kicked most of the time and didn't show her full powers. And had very little dialogue.

I HAVE BEEN REPLAYING THIS SCENE OVER AND OVER AGAIN... AND THE GOOSEBUMPS NEVER LEFT! Her 10 minutes on screen during this season is what makes television 📺 great. Best moment? No. IT'S THE ONLY MOMENT!!!!
People seem to forget that technically speaking Marie Laveau started out as just the normal voodoo witch. Displaced from her homeland as well. She was almost as powerful as a waning supreme and even had immortality over her. It just makes you wonder what a voodoo supreme/queen or high voodoo priestess would be like if Marie is this powerful
God...this scene still feels great watching. And with the legendary Angela Bassett getting an honorary Oscar next year, it's so exquisite!
