I could eat 12 prunes and not have a laxative effect. ( I have good bowels already) Everyone is different. Spreading the prunes through the day will be best. Maybe check the sugar levels in all the things your eating ( inc carb load in pasta, rice, potatoes) and substitute those that do you no good anyway for prunes. Or maybe 3 prunes . Everybody is different. Balance of foods is key.

The glycemic index for one serving of prunes (60 grams, or about six prunes) is 29. Keep in mind that this glycemic index is for unprocessed, unsweetened, dried prunes.
Many commercially sold prunes and prune products are artificially sweetened, flavored and processed, substantially increasing the glycemic index

Edit to just FYI; My Dr wanted me to get all my dental work done before he put me on a osteoporosis drug.
I was at my dentist yesterday and updated him on my Dr appt Monday. I got a severe lecture from him (dentist) to NOT go on the osteoporosis drugs if I could possibly avoid it. He said if I started and he needed to pull a tooth it was possible I wouldn't heal from the extraction. He pointed out all the side effects that could include losing my jaw from an extraction. He did say the drugs are good at what they do but not if I need certain dental work. I encourage anyone reading this to include your dentist in your decision to take these drugs or not.

Prunes will help your bowels moving, which assists in the lymphatic system flowing. Chronic constipation means everything is backed up, including your body's ability to build bone. I'm 55 and nobody ever told me pooping twice a month wasn't normal. I have severe bone loss in my skull from a molar's roots being in my sinus cavity, resulting in a life long infection, which caused chronic & severe constipation. Found out about the bone loss when I found out about the tooth. The day after the tooth was out the constipation ended.

When I was 14 I was getting into a car when the driver of the car stepped on the gas and pulled out of the parking space. My foot was wedged against the wheel as it moved forward, folding my foot in half. My mom refused to take me to the doctor for two weeks.

In our Indian culture, we soak either a teaspoonful of black raisins or about 5 to 6 almonds overnight, drain the water out and have either one of them. For the almonds, take out the skin first before consuming them. Or in the morning, take about 2 tablespoons of milk, add about just a bit of curd, add some raisins, stir thoroughly about, say 35x and let it set and have it either before or after lunch.

I eat three prunes every morning. I love them, and it’s a way to start my fruit/veggie intake for the day. Guess I’ll be doubling!!

You made me want to eat prunes! Few doctors have said the same too. But I am still hesitant. Doesn't it feel like 6 is too sugar in a day for anyone, young or old? I am hesitant because I don't want to eat myself into being insulin resistance, having 6 prunes per day. That's 180 prunes a month, 2160 prunes a year! That is a lot of sugar. What is your view on this? Thank you.

What a lovely compilation - perfect for me with the exercises I need. I used to swim 3 x daily for 1.5 hrs per day while working in E. TN (in the lakes) I like privacy. Not interested in being seen by anyone. 45 intense hrs of work weekly and being a Velcro attachment to my office chair is making it tricky! I have to find a way to fit it in. Great to know about prunes. Love them.
