@@sierraactual2620 making the map can't be hard, sure fallout 1 had a "huge map" but really it's a bunch of small or medium cells placed onto a image of california. @@unoriginalperson72 it's mainly adapting the 2.5D rendered locations to 3D. You can walk into Megaton in Fallout 3 and get a sense of scale for when you're modeling it later, but you can't really do that as well with the isometric titles. Although the scope is smaller, the Fallout 1 remake team's gonna have to work around the limitations of the source material and take a few creative liberties here and there.
Edit: I forgot to mention that the F4NV and F4CW teams collaborate and share assets, so that cuts down on dev considerably time.

7:30 I can't speak to F4NV, but I did some work for Beyond Skyrim: Cyrodiil. Basically, cancelling that project would be even more unrealistic than finishing it, just because people are constantly coming and going from the mod team, and sometimes even returning after long absences. Hell, they don't even have the project lead they started with, and progress is still going notably faster than they anticipate. I'd estimate between 100 and 200 different people have contributed over the years.

Seeing what they are working on its an amazing project. I just wish instead of a remake they should focus on allowing us to return to those places as the same character as the fallout 4. For example a transporter or like that of the institute to travel between those two places. new story line to help it along. since they are having to build everything from scratch they may as well go with a different story for the main character of fallout 4.

      Yep same.
But on the other hand i've made the same experience with a happy ending with the Stalker triology and the mods for each game - going to the misery overhaul mod - then the first attempt to combine all 3 games into one standalone sandbox mod - to the next attempt (Stalker Anomaly) which worked out - the huge amount of mods which were made for Anomaly and now the big modpack overhauls for Anomaly - and here it also took more than a decade and the result (which isnt done yet) can show itself nowadays along modern AAA games in many aspects (and also before the next official stalker game was released)
      Good things need time.

Thank you for making a fairly accurate video on these projects. I’d like to highlight the reason these modders aren’t hired is because it would be a logistical and legal nightmare unfortunately. Many of the team members for both these projects contribute varying amounts of material inconsistently in their free time in different countries.
I’d also like to address that the reason these mods are able to exist is because of the grace of Bethesda as long as they follow copyright. TTW could reuse audio files because they did not need to alter them. In order to port either 3 or NV audio files to the fallout 4 engine it would require audio conversions and would constitute as piracy as far as the law is concerned. Digital content is pay to access not to own after all. If anyone is curious about joining the remake teams or picking up modding there are a lot of friendly people willing to help learn all over!

    • @tiredpoison5784
      @tiredpoison5784 Год назад +2

also another thing, the Bethesda VA’s do not own the copyrighted work. It is Bethesda or Zenimax’ property. The reason they can’t just give permission for the projects to use said copyright is because that would mean a redraft and signature from every single voice actor for these games. Obviously something that can’t be done and something Bethesda would rather just leave alone. It’s technically already a miracle we are allowed to remake the game’s unofficially by checking for the original licensed copy upon installation.

I think the problem with official remakes is a higher likely hood of bringing with it "modern mechanics" Like I don't know how everyone else feels but I really hate the FO4 change in specials and perks and removing skills. I feel like official remakes will bring that along the way. Even if they changed the perks to make every one of them far better than fo4 version it still wouldn't be fun for me and it seems like the modders are ensuring a more familiar experience with skills coming back so I rather wait for passionate fans even if it takes a couple more years or even a decade.

I used to play a lot of 76 and was an advocator for the game but stopped once today kept making bad decision after bad decision. Two biggest times where they drop the ball in my mind was when they shut down nuclear winter and got rid of legacies. At the time when nuclear winter came out the market was oversaturated with battle royale's which made the general public not want to try it but nuclear winter was completely different in the fact that since fallout's an RPG you can create your own unique build/playstyle specifically tailored to you and to my knowledge no other Battle Royale has done that. The second biggest flop was when they remove the legacies. Fallout 76 has a whole dedicated documentary online and 1/3 of the length of documentary is spent talking about the in-game trading economy based on legacies and even though it's been in the game for multiple years they decide to take them out.

Not a copyright lawyer, but based on everything I read and heard about the legality of modding in general...
It would be a complete nightmare to hire on the development teams of the remake projects considering how frequently people come and go on the teams because of the weird legality of modding in general. Publicly distributing mods is *technically* copyright infringement. It's genuinely ignored, since it benefits the life of a game, but there absolutely have been cases with developers/publishers used their legal rights to shut down a mod such as Capcom with a nude mode for the Resident Evil 4 Remake.
At the same time, any original coding is owned by whoever made it. Some random person who quit the team three years ago? Any code they made is theirs and they'd have legal rights to go after Bethesda for using it without compensation. So... yeah, even if Bethesda's developers - even if Todd Howard himself wanted people do it - Bethesda's lawyers would likely recommend against it or suggest the project just be restarted... But if you're doing that, just make a new game.
I'm also pretty sure Fallout 76 is popular on consoles, even if it's not on PC. And the fact people are still developing for it suggests that it's profitable as a live service game. If it wasn't, it wouldn't be around for five years. It's likely not the most popular game on the face of the planet... But like, Everquest and Final Fantasy XI are still profitable... And they are MMOs that are over 20 years old. (FFXI still requires a subscription.)

With a remake there are some considerations.
    Weapons.
-Combat rifle could be an AR-10A4/ G3
-10mm pistol could be G20 or G40 Longslide
    -Deliverer could be G29
-Bolt action rifle could be Winchester Model 70
-Varmint rifle could be Ruger 10-22 ( and maybe link it to your luck and critical damage. It's .22lr after all)
    -.44 Magnum could be just a S&W 29 Classic 4"
    - Hopefully they redo the weight to be real life weights.
    - Ammunition should have realistic weight and always weigh something by default.
    - Drastically limit your carry weight unless in power armor. Let's say 100lbs maximum out of power armor.
-Scopes , suppressors, FH and brakes should be modeled after real ones.
    - Make VATS like the fo 76 VATS. Makes it harder.
    - Adjust bullet damage to be more realistic. All bullets can kill you. A .22 to the face is effective. You won't need 10rds yo do it either. Maybe link luck to your lethality chance.
    - Maybe instead of a Stimpack try a Combat Life Saver kit with tourniquet.
    - Add effects like starvation, thirst, tiredness, broken limbs, bleeding, not enough water, dysentery from drinking non purified water.
    - Add Bullet Drop like in Battlefield
