🚨Here’s a surprise, bonus upload for you all before Christmas! 💚
I hope you all have a great Christmas and a happy new year! Here is to 2024! 🎉
You too, Merry Christmas and thanks for a brilliant year in Middle-Earth. Have a good one.💯🍻
Aliens
First baptist.
Ahh a nice long video to fall asleep to. And i can always pick up where i "so call" remember and repeat the process.
Glad I'm not the only one who does this lol
I do the same thing 😅
Same...perfect voice and pacing...
I also do EXACTLY the same thing.
Same
I fell asleep while listening to some other LOTR lore and woke up 3/4ths through this video and I had many dreams about it and it was beautiful. Thank you
I now find it hard to fall sleep without listening to some LOTR lore or some space exploration videos 😂 I should probably stop since if it gets really interesting I stay awake to hear more
The Gollum theory doesn't hold water (see what I did there?), he had no idea where the Shire was, all he had was the names Shire and Baggins. He never even Crossed the Misty Mountains. Frodo's parents died because they were goofing off on a boat and they couldn't swim.
When Sam got caught spying, he had already been recruited by Merry, Pippin, and Fatty Bolger for that very purpose. They knew something was up and were keeping an eye on Frodo so he couldn't pull a fast one in them and run off on his own. However, until Sam got caught, they figured he was just going to go after Bilbo. They had no idea how serious things were.
Thank you for putting this together. My dad was a huge LOTR fan and I grew up watching the trilogy countless times and listening to my dad talk about all of the lore. Your content really takes me back
"In Eressea, in Elvenhome..."
Oh god, my dad made me get up once at an ungodly hour watch the trilogy back to back, to dads
@@fedimusmaximus2454 to Tolkien for creating a world we can all escape to when reality goes to crap
The Broken Sword: I want you to know that I’ve been really sick for the last few days, and this video really helped me get through those restless hours and trying to sleep. I’m new to the channel, but I can already tell that I’ve got a lot of content of yours to get through now. Thank you for this content, my friend.
We hope you are doing better, friend! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, we absolutely love being able to do these videos for you all and personally I hope you are doing better. Thank you for your kind words!
I love long lore videos, they're my favorite ❤
Mi n e too❤😊
Me to
Agreed
I second the motion ❤
I’m a long lore video. Do you love me????
I love living in the age of youtube, how many nerds in the 1960s wouldve dreamed of this
I’ve watched this video more times than I can count. This is my all-time favorite LOTR video ever. You guys are brilliant. Thank you so much!!! 🙏🏻✌🏻❤️
Hello,
Greatings from Northern Germany, I hope you can ignore my very bad English skills 😅
You made a very brilliant and fantastic work, go one for it.
As you seid in the video I want to ask you, if you can make a full video of the story of the Dwarfts, their mythologic background around Aule and how their story goes on in the three ages and perhaps also their future in the firth age.
Amazing work, I literally listen to this almost every night to drift off. Your lore videos are fantastic, thank you for the great content.
What is lesser known is that Merry and Pippen made a mint out of selling water from the entwash, ( the location of they kept secret ) they even made beer and wine with it and "heightening" became a craze among all the Shire folk. In just a few generations, as the hobbits grew taller, their feet became less hairy and their ears more men like. And just like that, hobbits passed out of existence and memory. 😮
Head cannon for sure
@@Bdenisincompotent Thanks for your reply and have a great day!
I want that to be true.
@@RA10H56 Thanks for your reply, it made my day! Have a great day!
I always found it amusing that the Valor didn't directly intervene because it was "middle earth's problem." But Sauran was literally from the undying lands and their refusal to bring him to justice after his master was thrown down. Literally allowed all of this to happen.
They wanted to give the inhabitants of middle earth the chance to gain the honor of dying hideously in glorious battles.
Listening to the story from a certain character's perspective and when the story comes to it's end he just starts over, this time telling the story from another character's perspective. This is awesome!
Thanks for this, beautifully done.
That's one audiobook length 😂
I was thinking that when I was putting it together 😂
Lies! The length of this video is what Tolkien would call a "paragraph."
Or one Tolkien chapter
Definitely for listening while working
I love listening to TBS stories again and again and again. Ace!
Great content!! Thanks for this and for feeding my Tolkien obsession
Hi there! I usually listen to your videos but don't watch them - it is just that I'm always busy and have something to do, I barely have time to sit down and watch. However you are my favourite LOTR channel on youtube, and now I can see your face for the first time. It was a great surprise! I'd like to thank you for the awesome videos you uploaded this year and wish you a merry christmas and a new year full with fun! Cheers from Germany!
Holy troll $hit! Merry Christmas indeed! Thanks Mellon. You's guys make my day. Stay happy, safe, and healthy. My favorite thing about the fellowship, Gimli and Legolas sailed into the west and Merry and Pippin were buried next to( Estel, Ellessar, Thorongill, Stryder,) Aragorn
I sat here for almost 5 hours watching your videos. I am such a LOTR fanatic that I couldn't resist. I appreciate all the great video content and hard work you poured into these magnificent videos. Thanks Melon! Subbed(Should have found you along time ago). Thanks once again. Samwise is my favorite in all the LOTR. Why not sure but he reminds me of myself.
Now this is the content I'm looking for! Great job!
Outstanding video ! really super high level quality overall !
I can barely survive reading it in the book, let alone watching the scene - even a hundred times later - and Your recount of Boromir’s death absolutely slays me. Every. Single. Time. 😭🥺😫🥺😭😢😫
Wow! What a labour of love. Thank you!
Great video. Thanks for all the effort
Thanks for þhis great video.
Just stumbled upon this. Excellent job, very well done Sir. Thank you for your hard work in preparing this for us. I have just subscribed of course. A dozen orcs wouldn’t be able to stop me.
This is really some amazing work you have done here. Love all the art work shown.
Thanks!
Thank you!!
Yes Sir ! Full attention ⚔️
Fellowship for me is best part of the Trilogy..book and film. Well done for the video.
This was excellent. Well done m8
I got three hours of work left. Perfect
This is amazing. Thank you! ✨✨
Completely left out is how Merry and Pippen made a mint of selling water from the Entwash, the location of which they kept secret. They sold it straight up as water and made beer and wine with it. Soon, "heightening" ( as it came to be known ) became all the rage in the Shire and among all hobbits. And as they grew taller and taller, their feet became less hairy and their ears more men like, and hobbits passed from all memory and existence.
I’m currently watching this video in a hotel room on the TV but commenting from my phone 😂
This should be on Audible 🤙🏽
Samwise Gamgee son of Hamfast is hands down the best of all the hobbits.
Why does he calls Frodo Mr.Frodo?
2:58:00, "It comes in Pints?"
LMAO!
Man is amazed when we discovered Black Holes
Pipin is amazed when he discovers "it comes in pints"
:)
Think about it,a Hobbit wouldn't know beer came in pints unless one left the Shire often. Man discovered black holes, but still can be idiots.

I understood, but it's still very funny 😂
this is awesome
This was awesome to make Christmas cookies to!
Thnx for this great Christmas gift 🎁😊

Great narrador, I couldnt stop listening...
OMGoodness! 3 hours...I'll be back tomorrow. With friends. Wes hal
Thank you Sir. 🤘SKOL!
I love it ❤️
Merry Christmas to me!! 3hr Story of Middle Earth, yes please. Funny its from the Broken Sword as I'm getting Narsil for my Christmas present this year. 👑💍👑
I LOVEfull length audio stories😊❤😊
Well done! The sad truth about Sam, and all of the bearers, is immortal lands are not kind to mortal beings. By the time Samwise the Brave arived, his friend was long gone. He would have only known Gandalf and the Lady Galadriel, and swiftly passed.
It's worth noting the Ainur Valar and Maiar in the story were just the ones who were interested in Arda. It was implied they were not the entire host.
7:10, I thought I read the 5 were told to NOT take up residence in any one area. That Saruman did was a "Red Flag" to Gandalf.
I've only read the series once, so I could be in error.
23:20, It sounds like Gandalf left Bree AFTER the Hobbits(and Aragorn) , the Movie and my memory of the book confirms this, but WHEN did Gandalf pass the Hobbits and Aragorn?
Dwarf history would be great
Gollum sought to find the Shire but was drawn unwittingly eastwards by the corruption he'd experienced under the ring's influence. He then confessed under torture at Barad Dur that he didn't know where the Shire was and Sauron would surely have been able to break his will. And surely if he had found the Shire, he wouldn't have abandoned his only lead after just two murders.
So I think the fan theory about Gollum killing Frodo's parents is fanciful.
I don't think Denethor suspected Aragorn's true identity when he knew him as Thorongil. At this time he was probably just motivated by jealousy since his father favoured Thorongil (familial favouritism is a theme transmitted down to his treatment of his own sons). Later on he learns that the Fellowship contained one of high station who led the company after Gandalf fell and refers to Aragorn witheringly as "this Ranger from the North" but there isn't anything to suggest he knew a genuine heir had appeared even then.
I don't think Aragorn's Numenorean heritage (and longevity) was known to Theoden, who therefore wouldn't have equated him with Thorongil, who he would have presumed would be an old man by the time of the War of Ring. There certainly isn't any acknowledgement the two knew each other after Gandalf freed Theoden from Saruman's influence.
Well I know what I'm doing tonight 👍🏻
💚💚💚
Funny note;
I always thought Sam screamed "and that's for my own temper!"
Instead of "my old gaffer!"
Cute! 😄💖
Jack black as Tom bombadill would be amazing
”After Frodo had healed from his wounds, the council of Elrond was summoned to decide their plan to destroy the one ring” - 1) Frodo healed from his _wound_, not wounds plural. It was the point of a Morgul blade that wounded him, not a bunch of injuries. 2) They didn't gather "to decide their plan to destroy the one ring", they gathered to decide what was to be done to the one ring and debated it at length. It wasn't a mere formality to be agreed upon, most people attending didn't know half the story even. This is a posteriori summary that trivializes the choices the free peoples of Middle-earth faced.
Great job 👍
Bro you got them spice eyes. Blue within blue. You crazy fremen.
23:42, Ow! Look at Legolas' legs!
Maybe that's where he got the name from :)
atm, this is literally the lotr we have at home
fireee
If you read all of the books of Tolkien. You will see that Legolas Greenleaf fought in the battle of the fall of Gondolin. This would make Legolas more than 3,500 years old. Read the fall of Gondolin and the early writings about the Elves.
Warned and pre-warned.. What's the difference?
Not being snippish, it's an honest question. My first thought, which I still think, is that "pre warned" could be taken straight from Tolkien. His prose was non standard and interesting. As a philologist, he obviously selected his words precisely. Which is why I find his non standard grammar and vocabulary of such interest.
I also wondered if "pre warned" might be idiomatic. English is such a peculiar language, full of weird and wonderful words and locutions..
Another really enjoyable video. I love the long ones. They must take so much work to create.
You are a gentleman and a schooler ❤❤❤❤
23:35 What are you talking about? It was Gandalf who suggested going to Moria in the first place. It was Aragorn who was against it.
Hi there! I noticed some confusion in your video regarding Aragorn's campaigns against the Easterlings and the specific age in which these events took place. These events actually occur at the beginning of the Fourth Age, under King Elessar's (Aragorn's) reign. After the War of the Ring, Aragorn, as King of the Reunited Kingdom of Gondor and Arnor, focused on rebuilding and securing his kingdom. The campaigns against the Easterlings were part of this effort, as they had been allies of Sauron. This period is briefly mentioned in the appendices of "The Lord of the Rings" and in "The Peoples of Middle-earth," part of "The History of Middle-earth" series edited by Christopher Tolkien. While Tolkien doesn't provide extensive details about these campaigns, they signify a time of transition from the turmoil of the Third Age to the relative peace of the Fourth Age. It's a fascinating period that blends the aftermath of the War of the Ring with the challenges of establishing a lasting peace. This part of Middle-earth's history offers a rich ground for exploration...
YEA!!!
Why does`nt glamdring glow blue when sting does?.
A-Hem. The Witch King could have been re-embodied by Sauron as happened when the River destroyed their forms and in sprit form the Nazgul returned to Morder.
Soooo, when is the father of the dwarves video going to be released? Cuz I need source materials :D
Read a place that Legolas said he felt young again bc of the three’s. And certain threes can live for centuries. And several places ive read that he may be 500-1000 yrs old
I've read LOTR, the Hobbit and Silmarillion, but not the other writings. Was it ever explained by Tolkien why the Wizards were depicted as old men, when they are, in fact, immortal Maiar? Instead of eternally young, like the elves, the Wizards seem to be eternally old.
Boromir did NOT know of the one ring as “Isildur’s Bane”. He had no idea what had happened to the “great ring of him we do not name.” That news only came to the north and in the north it is called that by the wise.
King Thingol would not have known Aragon, reread your Tolkien! the young heir grew up in Gondor with his Mother's people. Aragon used a different name and when he hung out in Rohan. about the time The young king was called home, Aragon would have left Rohan and began serving in Gondor, again a kings man under a different name.. when Aragon served in Gondor, again, even if the young heir was still in Gondor he would one have been one of the knights, an adult not know to the heir. i like the lore, just make sure you think it through. Aragon even said to the kings nephew, 'you would not have known me for you are young and I am old [i paraphrase here] HOPE
Would be interesting to put the average life-span or wizards (if they were known?) so that we could see that…. If like to know how much he was putting at risk by standing against the balrog. IDK? Maybe not? I know his spirit is immortal right?
For Mirkwood!❤
Audio skips at 44:43 or so just fyi
Q: would smeagol be allowed to travel to valinor if he had withstood the ring in the end? gandalf and gwaihir came with an eagle for him also, and not just for Sam and frodo.
Father's ofthe Dwarfs video, please.
What info was in that file Frodo got from the elf queen !?

1:05:25 You say "some restless and doubt". It should be, "restlessness and doubt".
Wow
Using Helm's Deep is kind of a stupid way to defend Rohan.
The invaders could just set up a defensive barrier around Helm's Deep and take over Rohan while you're surrounded at Helm's Deep.
The invasion wasn't to take Rohan,it was to kill everyone in Rohan. That's what was at stake.
1:00:44 a WHAT of wood?!?!?!
This was more a tolkien podcast video
Hate to be a party pooper but you say the fellowship went to the ruins of Moria “against Gandalf’s judgment”. Pretty sure it was his idea and Aragorn was against it.
If you could have any of Tolkeins lore to be made into a tv show or film what would people like to see?
I would love a story of Morgoth but i know it's unlikely
I sometimes feel it's probably better to keep the lore to the bookshelves
Who saved them from trolls? I missed that part.
They can’t figure out how
The pyramids were built and you can’t prove tolkien didn’t read ancient history of earth
😍😍😍😍😍😍👌
I think arragorn was 27 at the time of the hobbit
I love this channel.
That's all I got...ok back to the story. Bye
The broken.......
Record.
I always liked that Boromir's death was...completely useless.
He dies trying to defend Merry and Pippin from the orcs. But the orcs get them anyway.
So, practically speaking, a total waste of his life.
Worse still...it's only BECAUSE they get taken by the orcs, that they end up rousing the Ents, who take out Isengard while the main host of orc is off at Helm's Deep and then being chewed up by Huorns.
So, not only did he get himself killed while failing to protect them. It's a GOOD thing he failed to.
Totally pointless in every way.
I liked that. Good for Tolkien, not making Everything Be Meaningful. Lots of death is pointless especially all the Heroic death of WW1, which was ALL pointless.
