  • This will be a descriptive video series detailing how you can strip and rework your own LS harness! I go through each step showing how I do it
    This harness will be used for a gen 3 (99-02) LS engine, with a 4L60E and will be using the stock truck under hood fuse block.
    This is part three.
    I’ve had some people ask for my address to send along something, so I thought I’d leave my address here incase you’d like to! I appreciate you guys.

    What exactly does the purple wire you installed on c1 c10 do? Wouldn't the c1 a9 wire do the same thing? Idk, I'm lost.
    This is my 1st swap and your video has helped a lot so far. Thanks for the easy to follow instructions!

    • @StationroadRatrods
      @StationroadRatrods  2 года назад +1

      C1-A9 is the power from ignition switch, in run and start position, this is what powers up the fuse.
      I may have had it in the wrong position in the video, I’ll double check and write an update in the description.
      Thanks for pointing that out!
      If you need any help at all just ask, I’ll do what I can!

      @@StationroadRatrods I was about to put the purple wire in how you did on the c1 plug. If yours started and ran how you had it it should've been good. Just watched your 4th video and you actually tested the harness on the bench with the purple wire. Think I can just go ahead and hook it up?

    • @StationroadRatrods
      @StationroadRatrods  2 года назад +1

      Try it and see. The only thing that would happen if it’s in the wrong pin position is it just wouldn’t have power or crank

    I think I've watched this 3 or 4 times and the more I watch the more confused I get. I think I'll get an engine and harness and look at it on my workbench and see if I can make any sense of it. Do you do vats removal? What else should I delete? I'm just going for basically stock engine,auto trans, possibly a/c,no turbos for my first swap.

    ok im running a th350 stock tranny and as far as i remember there only one 4 pin plug on it with 1 wire coming out to stock 84 cutlass wiring.
    so simplest way to get my car running would be 4 wires;
    1. hook the car starter crank wire to C1-C10 on Ls fuseblock
    2. C3-F1 to power up fuel pump.
    3. C1-A9 hooks to 12v key on power?
    4. my cars interior wiring is intact and should feed igntiion switch power as long as car fuseblock is hooked to constant power?

    • @kravmaga7070
      @kravmaga7070 3 года назад

      but this means it will start in any gear position? is that the only drawback?

    I guess the question I have is, after going thru the harness, can you start an engine on a stand without the ecu?

    • @StationroadRatrods
      @StationroadRatrods  Год назад

      You’ll always need the ecu to start the engine because it’s what controls the fuel injection and spark, but you can start it on the stand without needing the ignition switch, fuse block, body control module and all that junk

    • @blue32nu
      @blue32nu Год назад

      @@StationroadRatrods ok, so the theft system will need to be coded out of the ecu to start it? To clarify, there's another step outside of wiring to get the engine running?

    • @StationroadRatrods
      @StationroadRatrods  Год назад +1

      Absolutely. You’ll need to have the ecu programmed to remove VATS (anti theft) in order to start the engine after the harness is done

    ive got 2 wiring harnesses and only 1 fuseblock and neither came with a C1 or C3 connector, just a C2.
    am i screwed or can i still make this work somehow?

    • @kravmaga7070
      @kravmaga7070 3 года назад

      since theres only fuel pump wire on C3 i assume i can just solder or clip a wire on that fuseblock pin and forget about connector entirely

    • @kravmaga7070
      @kravmaga7070 3 года назад

      similar story for C1, only 2 wires so i might as well just solder wires directly onto those pins?
      if i understand this connector, one wire sends CONSTANT 12V power into steeering column to ignition switch and the other wire coming out is IGNITION switched power?

    • @StationroadRatrods
      @StationroadRatrods  3 года назад

      If you could get the C1 and C3 you would be better off, if not you can grab a female 1/8” blade connector and just clip it on to the appropriate pin in the C1 and C3 blocks

    • @StationroadRatrods
      @StationroadRatrods  3 года назад

      That’s exactly what I mean yup! You could solder it to the pin, then slide a piece of heat shrink over it
