The cost of 3/5 of those bikes was prohibitive. Please - more reviews of bike models that us mere mortals might buy as opposed to the ones that manufacturers shower on you to review (which must be nice).
You can literally get the Canyon Grail for 2.700€ in Carbon so what's more to want... Canyon has the same model in all price classes, you'll find something
We all consider these channels to see what is recommended but remember they are their recommendations but not necessarily right for you. I tried Canyon but had a horrendous experience with their customer services so I handed back my Grail to them, switched to an Orro carbon fibre and have never looked back. Fantastic bike and much cheaper than Canyon.
You know if they picked 5 brands no one knew about that were off amazon people would be complaining that they're just recommending terrible bikes with terrible parts. There are videos you can watch for that stuff.
On the Grail…Do your homework guys. Tire clearance is at 700x 42 mm, but Canyon points out that’s with fenders, so the effective maximum tire size is closer to 700×45 mm. The Canyon site says 46 front. 42 rear
@JustBrowsing777 I'm using a jones h 2.5 bar on my surly and also have aerobars on it...this gives me plenty of hand positions on the bike compared to drop bars.
Hello, good video, I wanted your opinion on which one of these bikes you think is better, Canyon Grizl CF SLX 8 Di2, FOCUS ATLAS 8.8 23, Salsa CUTTHROAT C GRX 810 2X
To say that tire clearance up to 45c is really for recreational riders and not racing doesn’t apply in the States. The last gravel event I ran 47mm tires on a 2x Supersix SE and I see people riding up to 50mm tires. I don’t think i would even consider a new gravel bike with at least 47-48+ tire clearance.
Annoyingly Rose pulled out of the UK market following Brexit, making it very difficult to get our hands on Rose bikes for testing. We would if we could. Rose were always great bikes to review. In fact my first serious race bike was the Xeon RS. Liam
I'm a pure racer and I cannot imagine riding a bike with 45 mm clearance Max. What happens when you hit the first mud? Tire clearance is so important. Shocked you didn't put the giant revolt in there. Tire clearance for days, in a racy package
About to lick up my 1992 Muddy Fox from the workshop: New Schwalbe tyres. This bike has been with me since 1992. STRONG, COMFY & RELIABLE. Tired of bike snobbery and extortionate prices.
I’ve got it in the Supersix EVO SE Meteor Grey version and upgraded with Force AXS 2x crank and derailleur , Reserve wheels. Fantastic bike which of course won Unbound 200 this year with Lachlan Morton. European reviewers seem to always miss talking about it, I assume Cannondale doesn’t toss enough advertising dollars at them because it’s certainly not the bike. I don’t see any mention of although great brands like Salsa or Santa Cruz. Also, any review list that doesn’t included the amazing Crux is a bit suspicious, especially when a Canyon makes the list.
Everybody hating on the video for what? "those must be the brands that sponsor the video".. how many brands do you think you can fit into a normal length video? "Those bikes are too expensive for normal people" we can't help your budgeting problems. A normal adult working a normal job can afford anyone of these bikes if they wanted to. As a young man living on my own working a $15.50 per hour job I bought my first $7,000 BMC team machine and the collection is just exploded since then obviously I'm not making 15.50 an hour anymore but if I could budget that at that rate there should be nobody complaining about I'm an adult but can't afford that. You either want to figure out a way to afford it or you don't. The getting on here and bitching about prices and asking him to dumb down the videos is just redundant. Cycling is an elite sport, riding a bicycle is something anybody and everybody can do. There is a difference.
So no mention of Sonder Camino, Ribble CGR or Ribble Gravel, Planet X Tempest, Rujo or Free Ranger, none of the Orro bikes, or steel frame offerings from Brother Cycles, Temple Cycles - realise these are all made in Taiwan/China etc as are probably 90 % of bikes and those you mention however woukd be good to support UK based firms - with the cheapest being the Marin Headlands, apart from being sponsored or otherwise induced to feature these bikes I can't see why they've made this list, you haven't even got any from the big three Trek, Specialized or Giant - I realise they are probably cutting back on some of their marketing budget so maybe that explains it? Anyway weird list
Hell yeah! I absolutely f'inf love my Canyon Grail CFR... amazingly stable, comfortable, fast, fun and gorgeous bike. Also very practical with the mudguards and storage options. I fell in love with the LTD version the moment I saw it and had to get it... and it's still one of the best looking bikes out there, I think👌😍
Less than 50 mm is not a gravel bike. That's "all road". You don't need the clearance just for the tires. You need it for if your 42s get caked in mud. Gravel races usually have some sections where 48 to 50 mm tires would be way better than narrower tires, so nobody should buy a gravel bike that has less than 50 mm.
I do not know how you choose bikes to advertise, but will I see only once a Look or Time bike in your videos? These are absolutely great machines to ride.
From what I see, the bike industry continues with overpriced bikes that do not deliver anything but an illusion of luxury. Sadly, after a twitch of experimentation, it appears that a vast majority within the gravel category have settled for a corpse of more or less boring endurance road bike geometries with a bit of meatier tyres stuck on. Calling something an “adventure rig” should be banned unless the geometry is relaxed enough to practically equal a modern day MTB and the tyres are at least 50mm. Whatever happened to the bikes made of metal and being simple, trusty machines? Carbon with holes in it for stuffing things…how about a good old bombproof steel or alloy rig with a trusted mechanical drivetrain and gears to actually climb somewhere? And a bunch of mounting points for bags. That should suffice. This list is a joke for anyone but rich snobby dentists who want to show off on weekends.
You wanted a bike lighter and less complicated than an MTB to be faster and more nimble on tarmac and lighter terrain, so you made its tyres narrower, less knobby and you skipped suspension. So adding +4 cm tyres and front suspension back on negates the whole idea of gravel bikes.
80s and 90s mountain bikes being reinvented and called gravel bikes, esp with the front shocks. I've got nice stump jumper pro w/front rock shocks that I will happily part with for $5k USD 🤣.
So what happened to the 'only bike you need' Specialized Crux in a recent video - doesn't even make the top five? 🤔Pretty poor bike journalism and no consistency.
The cost of 3/5 of those bikes was prohibitive. Please - more reviews of bike models that us mere mortals might buy as opposed to the ones that manufacturers shower on you to review (which must be nice).

Crux has an aluminum version now for $2600. If you can’t afford that - well, there’s no excuse.
@@petersouthernboy6327 Nonsense about that not being an excuse. 2,600 is a large amount, too large for many people to pay for a bike.
So those the 5 brands that support the channel. Got it.
Top 5 bikes that paid us the most. Lol
@@andrewmandich5906 Yep! Gotta have a Canyon in every video

@Berserker26 Canyon gravel bikes are cheap and often on sale. Nothing to complain about here imho.
@@MillicenteLol if they recommend that Walmart gravel bike people will be complaining too
Orbea Terra should be on the list!
GT cables up front are a mess. They don’t need to be internal but these look terrible
This years Unbound winner bikes from Rose? (Backroad FF). Affordable bikes of very good quality!
LOL you really don't know why prices are coming down?
I love my Surly Straggler. Affordable work horse.

Man, I forgot how much of a mess the exposed brake and shift hoses/cables look.
Santa Crux Stigmata, which was not exactly one of the five, but in there. Could you review it please?
Don't worry, it's not very good 👍
What bikes are best for gravel but use alt or flat bars...I can't ride with drop bars due to hand/wrist issues.
Drop bars provide more alternate hand positions? I find my flat bar not so nice on my wrists/hands.
@JustBrowsing777 I'm using a jones h 2.5 bar on my surly and also have aerobars on it...this gives me plenty of hand positions on the bike compared to drop bars.
Seems like I just saw a video you all said the Crux was amazing.

0/5 metal bikes. so we shouldn't buy metal bikes anymore?
He said top 5. What's so bad about not having a metal frame in the top 5?
Hasn’t it been like this for years?
Carbon bikes are cheaper to produce.
Do you want that heavy 4 kg hi-ten steel frame?
i wouldn't have any of these in my top 5 list.

Then there's a lot of gravel races that are actually "all road" I suppose. Not every gravel race is like Unbound Gravel.
Not every bike is made for US mud and that's ok. In Europe, gravel looks totally different and there's little to no cake-mud here. So yeah...
