- This pocket sized gemologists gemmological tool simultaneously shows a pleochroic gem's pleochroic colours side by side in sharp contrast. It is used in gemology to quickly separate similar looking stones like rubies from garnets, red spinels and glass by detecting if they are non pleochroic, dichroic or trichroic. It can also be used in a series of tests to aid in the identification of gems.

I'm so glad I read comments, because I have the one on the left, and I thought have been looking though the wrong end, but thanks to a few of the people watching, I know that I had it right. Thats a pretty big mistake to make for someone working with gem tools.
Very nice demonstration. Well done!
The only problem is you are using the calcite dichroscope UPSIDE DOWN as the bolt or knob side should be down toward the stone
!
mstreasureseeker Ja Ja!
Yes! you are right.
@@beatrizboccheciampe4941 thank you that was getting on my nerves
Great video except one thing the dichroscope on the left you use in the reverse the knob/bolt side down...
I am curious as to what light you are using. I can't seem to find anything like this anywhere.
I would like to buy that light source he's using. can anybody tell me what's the name of that instrument and where can i buy it.? plz help me..
Does anyone know what light source he is using? I can't find it anywhere.
Dam dude that was great!! Thank you!!
its really good but, there not properly shows in camera, hos to show two colour in dicroscope.
Dichroscope upside down and reflected light from side giving false pleochrosim ( look at the light source through the scope change colour a it is turned)
adjusting the aperture of the camera accordingly would've allowed you to use the light source.
Where can I buy this lamp? Or how find it in Google?
use phone screen with white backgroud
!
You need to rotate the stone not the instrument
