Been running without a shroud and have had a mechanical fan clutch I installed for 2 years now. I use to run hot on coolant and transmission. Now I have no issues and run cooler than ever before!
Never put mine back on after changing waterpump in a parking lot. I left it off for motor aceess. I tow heavy almost daily and never needed it.
Man just had to do the pusher coolant riser reroute and it been an amazing for me, the factory coolant riser leaked almost left me stranded but made it home thankfully
Glad u were able to make it home and fix it! I'm fixing to remove mine soon
Try some Redline Water Wetter, (pink color). Reduced my temperature by 5 degrees. Has better conductive capability. Product clings to the radiator and makes it more efficient.

@@EVERYTHANGDIESEL it changed a lot. A very good up grade for sure. The price was well worth it. The only thing different was it’s just a machined nut and the new clutch.

What happens to the wire going to electric clutch? Is there a CEL?
You won't get a cel. You'll have a soft code on your ecm for the fan clutch signal. But it won't affect your truck and you won't get a cel

What temp does the mechanical clutch engage? I did the swap and was towing my 5th wheel, hit 216°, and didn't hear the fan engage. Part was from Amazon. This was just to test it, also no fan shroud attached.
You may not see this but new to Cummins but not diesels. The grid heater delete is my first mod. Where did you get yours from? And will it throw any CELS?
I've had heating issues in traffic on my 2018 I did a coolant bypass that dropped my Temps quite a bit but when I idle my truck warms up unless my ac is on because that obviously kicks on the fan clutch I think I'm gonna go the route you did I shouldn't have to have my ac on to keep my coolant temp down

Mine was the exact same way except when the ac was on it still wouldn't click in for the fan clutch
I think problems with fan clutch on 6.7’s depends on the year you have because if I’m not mistaking my 08 still has the same fan clutch from factory with over 230k miles. Still jealous cus you have my dream truck 😢
Thats how it was on my 3rd gen, it had the oem fan clutch and had 200k. Maybe it's a 4th gen thing idk

Yea man, every ram is hit and miss in regards to the fan clutch system. Considering this would've been the 2nd fan clutch I put on since having the truck I just pulled the trigger and did the swap. Cost a little more than buying another but you get the reliability and assurance that your truck won't be overheating
No wonder the stock clutch wasn't working. You had no shroud! 😂

Since your removing the electrical fan clutch do you need to code anything or would check engine lights come on?
Removing the fan will not cause a cel you will get a soft code for the clutch but you won't have a cel on and it won't affect the truck
Does the A/C still work?
I had a bad fan clutch and my A/c didn't work ones I fix fan clutch started working again

Makes sense and it's more than 30-40 bucks. Atleast if you want a good quality one haha
The OEM water pump from Genos Garage is $275. You can get $40 pumps but not worth the risk imho.
